PowerA Fusion Pro 3 Xbox Controller Review-HUGE Improvement
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 5 авг 2024
- The original Fusion was a wired Xbox pro controller with a terrible rear paddle design and useless trigger stops, the successor jacked the price $10, added USB-C, and a share button. The Nintendo Switch version had the same pitfalls but is still one of the best pro controllers on the Switch platform. Changing 1 component makes this feel like a better controller than ever.

Just found your channel not even a week ago and have binged more than half your controller reviews. Great work man, seriously! Love your humor and attention to detail. It's the little things that keep the review honest and trustworthy. I respect that. Keep up the awesome work! 👍
I really appreciate that you’re enjoying the hell out of the videos. I’ll keep them coming
I did the same when I found the channel !! Best out there
Dudes hilarious
Really appreciate the thorough review. Dude goes above and beyond with the information.
Thank you
Just ordered mine, glad to see you have good reviews on it 🎉
With the power 2, I got it because a target employee said i should because i was going to buy an elite and thought its so much cheaper might as well try… it lasted me a little over 2 years. The paddles never worn out and the only thing that did was my left stick having an edge break because of too much use which I thought was crazy. The wire connection soon gave out and I’ve been using the base controller for a couple months. I wanted to get another paddle controller and saw this one on amazon and I can get it same day so I bought it. Will come in a couple hours but thank you so much for the reassurance on this controller!
Your videos are absolutely legit I appreciate everything you do on these controllers brotha.
ive been watching the reviews on this controller series and let me just say man I subscribed SO fast because not only do you speak so many facts, you're freaking HILARIOUS bro I swear. PLEASE keep up the good content. I'm LMAO RN!!! XDDDDD
Thank you my friend .
Thank you for such a thorough and informative video. I'm in the market for a new pro controller for my PC and I think I just found it.
BRB going to Amazon to purchase lol! I was waiting on until you specifically reviewed this controller to purchase with confidence 🙌🏾
I appreciate your vote of confidence. 🙂
Good to see improvements
The one caveat
To reviews like this is long term longevity. I understand it’s most convenient/effective for content creators to review right out of the box, and maybe play on it for a couple days after to get a feel for the controller, but after reviewing 100 controllers like you said it’s probably not realistic to regularly use every controller for months so def understandable, but after 4 years with a power a fusion pro (1), I never once had issues with the paddles. I even used the paddles from the first iteration on the fusion pro 2, and luckily the paddle modules are compatible between generations! They are more comfortable to me than the fusion pro 2 paddle pack.
Plus it seems power a adopts a “no questions asked” warranty policy (besides providing original receipt and shipping info) and will send you a brand new game pad for free if you have any issues. So the points on the paddles “wearing out” across my experience with several power a controllers (4) is relatively invalid in my experience.
However, what was missed was that the joysticks do wear out relatively quickly against the “anti-friction” rings. 3 months and they already look like a log that has been hit with an axe several times. Good thing this is a really cheap part and really easy to swap (likely a design feature to cover up/fix the wear issue) but power a won’t sell me those on their own. Won’t even let me buy them, so had to go the replacement route. 2 year warranty is pretty much an industry best. Overall though you really do get what you pay for and so much more honestly. Idk if this was “a huge improvement” that justifies a whole new iteration of controller but the reduction in complexity by removing the paddles is a nice feature, as is the price reduction.
Overall a super good review! Really in depth and super happy to see someone who is applying almost 0 bias, and all numbers to their videos such as the input lag, the dead zones etc and testing them through science and really putting the work in to put the knowledge in our hands. Super shocked about the weights! Excited to see if this one lives up to the hype 🤞
More than a perfect review. The best youtuber on controller, thanks a lot !
man keep it up dude, we love what you do!
Thank you Somto
Another awesome & helpful review, cheers dude, 😎👍👍
I had the 1st and I am currently using the 2nd one. I love both of em. I just seen the 3rd one at Walmart last night n came here to see if it’s an improvement. Looks like I’ll have the wife use my money to get me it for Christmas. Lol
Have a fusion 2 and will be getting the fusion 3. Also worth noting Power A has great customer service too 👍
Wow, what a turn around by powera! Cant wait for the wired comparisons. I have a victrix gambit and elite 2. And have a fusion pro 2 as a backup, since I hate the paddles. I think the gambit is my favorite. But the paddles are a bit janky. It just doesnt feel good to actuate them compared to the elite 2 paddles. But outside of that, its functionally a better controller than my elite 2. Would love to see how the new fusion pro 3 stacks up against the gambit. Ill be waiting :)
Love my gambit too. Had the og fusion can’t wait to get this one
My favorite controller ever was a PowerA. I think it was the original fusion on the 360
Was looking for a new controller for PC and after watching a ton of your videos I went with the 8bitdo Ultimate Bluetooth controller ✌✌✌
Excellent video! I have the original controller, and those back paddles were definitely not doing it any favors.
Thank you, and I agree
Not gonna lie i love your channel and your consistency is amazing❤ keep up so i can stay stimulated
I’ll do my best to keep stimulating you
With content
Dang! I was waiting on this and missed it.
I love the review a couple of points, the middle actuation for the trigger pull works great for racing games. Since it shortens the throw ,instead of moving the sensor closer, it always you to push 100% but get 75% pressure. Which is enough for maximum braking with triggering ABS or locking up your brakes. So in that regard, it’s very useful
*Without triggering ABS
Congrats on the silver play button!
thank you, not quite there yet. I was just making a joke in the video, but we should be there for real some time this year hopefully
@@GamerHeavenOfficial I figured that out after I hit submit... however, let's just call it "premature". You will get there my man. Keep up the fantastic entertaining videos!
Power A is an awesome company! They’ve been putting the buttons for rear controls for a while now, starting with the enhanced! I actually just had an enhanced controller that was 10 months old have some issues with the thumb stick making a funny noise and they sent me a replacement. The whole process was easy and I didn’t even have to send back the defective controller! Within 7 days of first contacting them I had the brand new replacement! I just really really wished they made PS5 controllers!
I like back buttons so I can have all my fingers on the buttons, resting my pointers on R1 middle on R2. Please consider this perspective because I'd love to see it held that way. Ur videos are so good btw keep ur the good work
I will show that grip style in all future controller reviews 🙂
Hey gamer heaven love the vids and your attitude lol. I use the razer Wolverine v2 chroma, absolutely love it, but next time I buy a controller I may switch to something else. I really like the extra bumper buttons that razer offers on their Wolverine controllers. Any other controllers that have extra bumper buttons ? Or not really?
Also when is the rewasd tutorial coming?
I've been using this brand since pro 1. I have had all versions up to 3. I have 0 problems with them. Back paddles are perfect for me.
Best wired controller with back buttons imo. The only slight issue is that the back button placement is slightly off from where your fingers rest. But I solved this issue by resting my left middle finger on the top left button and my right middle on the bottom right. For some reason it feels completely natural that way. Probably because the right and left side gets held slightly differently because of the Xbox thumbstick placement
Just found this channel its very informative, thanks for the effort. Actually i am looking for a light weight wireless controllor for xbox do you have any suggestion? because the official controller is kinda heavy for few hours gaming.
Bro my controller out the blue stop working I have the same exact one…not the cord because when I put it in calibrate mode or hold the map button my light blinks…but it just won’t come on for some reason any fix?
I've used every pro controller there is. I have all versions of the PowerA, all versions of the MS Elite, and many others. The back paddles on the PowerA's have never been as bad for me as reviews like this claim. Those paddles are perfect for my bigger hands. No wear and tear. The button's on a new V3 are ok, but they don't fit my hand as well as the v2 paddles. I can see how smaller handed guys might prefer the V3.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the V2, and the new V3
what would you say are the best controllers you’ve used
@@fake-hix im in the same boat as donald ive tried literally everything all powera, dualsense edge, countless other third party controllers and the elite 2 is just the most comfortable/ussable controller ive ever tried.
The power fusion 2 is my favorite controller. I choose that over the Elite 2. I’m going to go try the 3rd fusion now to see if it’s better. N I loved the back paddles on the fusion 2. So I’m going to have to see if the back buttons are doable for me.
How’s the dead zone in the analog sticks ?. I’m so used to pdp controllers so I’m looking forward to a controller where the buttons don’t fall apart and don’t drift . & is the dead one changeable ?
Its our Controller Captain
This is awesome news I been using the 2 for a long time and it's just started getting stuck drift I wanted to buy a more expensive controller but just can't justify it but I will be going to get a 3 in a few hours!!!!
Hey man can you map the D pad buttons to the back buttons on this or no? It doesn’t show it in the instruction manual of what I saw you showing of it, but this is a L for me if you can’t.
I know you can recalibrate the thumbsticks on the controller it self, but does it change anything with the circulatory?
How do I use the buttons on the back? I’ve Hooke sit up with a cord to my pc but my paddles don’t work on Apex Legends.
Lol i love the paddle style for all the power a fusions but they're the only paddles I've ever used so I'm very used to them
Thanks for the review. Was a fan of the initial powerA fusion pro but the 2nd was a big letdown for me. Pleased to see they moved to back buttons. Really enjoying my forza eswap x right now maybe I’ll check this one out sometime.
You’re very welcome
Gaming COD/Destiny on a One S with my 9yr old on his SSD upgraded PS4 Pro, and went with the budget ($25 on Amazon) Power A Enhanced Wired, and while not anything fancy by any respect? I was somewhat genuinely surprised TBH. I put some Control Freak rings on it to potentially prolong the life of the thumb sticks and so far so good!
I found my son a Sony PS4 paddle attachment on Ebay for a whopping $16 shipped! So we both are now sliding and bunny hopping gleefully like the dweebs we are!
Haha!
Great reviews BTW. I think eventually I'm going to opt for the Fusion Pro SE and it's magnetic thumb stick non-drift tastiness, but for now?
Pew-Pew-Pew!!
🤓🖖
How easy are the back buttons to press? I have limited hand strength and have trouble pressing the back paddles on the Elite series 2
Do you have a recommendation any specific controller I mainly game fps games and I'm on pc but have used xbox controllers and the 2 older version of powera controller
Thumb sticks on Power A Fusions are great. I disagree with the review on the positioning of the paddle buttons though. They look good to me. I'm glad they replaced the fragile paddles from previous models. I had to replace 3 of these already because of the pro pack paddles breaking. Can't wait to pick this new version up.
I'll keep it simple, great video.
Hey Gamer Heaven
I really like your videos and they helped me alot but i still have a question (maybe some of you guys can help me out aswell),
so i had an elite series 2 which i liked so much but the bumpers stopped actually working after 6 months, i tried some fixes but it just got worse so i bought a new one. 1 month into my second elite series 2 the same thing started happening on my right bumper and its so annoying. So which controller should i get? All i really need is 4 rear paddles, triggerstops ( not necessary ) and it should be compatible with series s, do you have a recommendation?
This one or dual sense edge for pc gaming? Great review. New follower here
sorry if this is mentioned in the video. does this one still work with the switch?
I use the halfway trigger for any game that has a gun or firing mode where you could hold down to build up energy. For instance, in Halo the energy pistol or whatever will not charge up on the shortest trigger setting but it will charge on the middle setting.
Fantastic review, needing a new controller as my elite V2 has decided to get stick drift on the left stick 😭(had it since 2019) not bad, would you suggest the PowerA fusion Pro 3 as a replacement? Or since i have all the extra parts for my V2 would it be better to replace the controller with the Core V2?
Fusion Pro 3 is nice, if you need adjustable stick tension then stick with the Elite though.
Dude, you should make a controller tiers list. I really think you should
I use the fusion pro and for me its a very good control, but thanks for you opinion Im thinking sereausly buy it
okay so coming from ps5 dual sense edge and victrix pro bfg. this power a pro 3 is my best controller right now! awesome back buttons and comfort while playing games
Is it possible to use the share button as a mute toggle on discord like with the PS4 controller? Thank
Where did you buy this controller and where can I get it for cheaper if possible?
Any plans for a PowerA enhanced review? Trying to decide between that, MSI GC20 V2 and Nacon compact and can't make up my mind. Thanks
Yes, I have one in the closet in line to be reviewed my friend, but to save you time . It is a good budget wired Xbox /pc controller
Im stuck between this or the victrix gambit? What do you guys think?
What would you sugest in uk either buying this controller for £70+ or the spectra for £30?
Just ordered this and the g7 game sir awesome
2 great gamepads in my opinion.
Great videos! Found your videos when trying to find a review for the Pro 3. I then went down a rabbit hole watching several of your videos on controllers lol. Question for you, would you recommend Pro3 or Victix Gambit?
The gambit
@@GamerHeavenOfficial thanks for the info!
I need help, I just got this but the when I move the trigger stops the trigger doesn’t even activate.. send it back?
As someone who had the Fusion pro 1-2 i liked the weight of the controller, even if it was weighted down. I mean, they are removable ontop of that
Just got mine today and it feels great. Much better than the fusion 1
I just bought and when I put the charger in , no lights come on? Is there something I am missing. I really need some help on this one
For anyone asking about this or the elite series 2, id recommend this even if they did cost the same. BUT i like the victrix gambit the best its my go to
What controller do you recommend for PC gaming? Mainly playing COD
I know the previous versions of this controller made peoples mic have a bunch of static. Is this still the case with this controller?
Actually no, it was pretty clear . Also I was told I sounded clear
Kev what pc case is that
It reminds me of the biggest baddest rog hyperion
Out of all the xbox controllers with back paddles what would you say is best? Not caring about price also
Just ordered this one after using their Spectra Infinity for about a year and a half, which only has minor drift in a single stick. Can't wait to have two extra buttons to play around with, those are game changers!
do u know if this is part of the 3rd party ban, i wamma get 1
@@AceyJPit’s Xbox licensed
@@ICr4zyI got one. Love it yeah saw it was cheers
@@AceyJP nice, currently trying to decide between the gamesir g7 se and this one
@@ICr4zyII have the G7Se and it is soooo good especially with 1000hz polling rate now. Just sad it only has 2 paddles
apart from dualshock and dualsense, which controllers have 4ms input latency out of the box?
I should make a huge excel spreadsheet because I’m sitting here trying to answer you but I’m drawing a blank 😆. I started tested the polling rate /Input delay in all my controller reviews starting about a year ago, and that section is always time stamped. During those big controller comparison videos coming up , I will properly display allllll the results on a table or chart or something
Do your thumb sticks in gamepad tester snap to the x and y axis when moving it at least 50% slowly over the x and y lines? Mine does, my stock DS4 doesn't snap and is free movement (more accurate/free form)
🤔 that’s odd. I tested what you mentioned after I saw your comment, and no, it doesn’t do that on mine.
@@GamerHeavenOfficial 13:03 on the video, it snaps perfectly on to the X and Y Axis moving left to right. It's way harder to do that on a Dualshock 4. I also confirmed with someone else that the snapping does happen.
With regards to the triggers I've noticed on mine they only cut out the physical pull with no change in sensitivity at all, so for games that require a full pull for example the plasma pistol on halo it's not going to work with the trigger locks engaged.
Tested with the power A app on Xbox
Just recalibrate it on the power a app and when you do the trigger calibration have the trigger locks all the way on. Once you're done it'll register 100% trigger pull with the locks on. But if you wanna go back and play racing games you'll have to recalibrate the triggers with the locks off lol
I own the power a fusion pro 2 and 2 lots of the turtle beach recon one all black the other white and purple, I can not Express just how stressful those back paddles can be, either through the controller not recognising you've depressed one of the paddles and so your input is just never registered and lost in the matrix.
The weight of the controller was also an issue with the centre of gravity being much further down in the hand it's much more stable but you can notice your hands start to ache as they're getting used to the new ergonomics.
The Turtle Beach Recon was amazing, half the price, still wired, half of the amount of inputs on the back side but those inputs worked flawlessly it also has the diamond finish on the back buttons like the new fusion 3. I love this aftermarket controller ecosystem playstation had a dodgy Amazon modded controller back in 2009 and since then I've always wondered how far these things go!
I've already purchased my fusion, it says on the amazon ad "impulse triggers" which to me makes me think like they've made an option to have the triggers act more like a button but with the small price increase I doubt that they have the technology must be some sort of false advertising but just having a 4 button option for under £100 has made this decision a no brainer and since I've had more consistency with buttons, this pad might beat out the elite for me!
Thank you for sharing your experience. Just to make sure we are talking about the same controller. The Turtle Beach Recon (purple and white) is the one that had crappy rear button inputs?
Impulse triggers refers to the rumble motors that are in the triggers. The standard Xbox one and series controllers have them too.
@@spikethespacecowboy Yeah I found this out a couple of weeks later, it's nice I didn't notice it was missing from the v2 but as soon as I booted up a racing game it became very clear to me when the car was about to drift and slide, it's not something I really noticed consciously but it did improve the experience by MORE than I realised, the v3 does actuate the triggers with less of a pull, semi auto rate of fire is quicker than v2 but it's not gonna be 2x as fast but using the first trigger stop allows you to bounce through the cycle quicker than standard, you dont feel overpowered but you do feel enhanced in an fps, jump sliding while continuously aiming can make you 100x harder to deal with if you're in lobbies where people arent expecting you to bunny hop past them lasering them in the face. Would recommend in any competitive online game you get the most boost would not recomend drifting the sticks over a single player game tho
I got this controller and normally play fighting games but will be using this for casual games. I found the pro 2 on ebay for 30 bucks on an open box deal and wanted to know if it was worth it. I have not recieved the controller yet. some people say its great then others will say it only lasted 3 months.
They need to fix the inbuilt dead zone it’s disgusting feels so stiff, Gone back to my power a 2.
Bro, hairstyle fits you 👍🏼
Thanks Rubio
Ribbed for your pleasure. 😅😅😅 Definitely getting it to upgrade my Fusion 1.
Interesting, because all I ever see about PowerA is stick drift issues. Tons of videos about that before I found this review.
Buttons, when you only use 1 left rear one, such as a paddle design, Elite 2 Xbox version, which I only use the left large rear one for COD jumping, is the best design. Buttons, sunken, hard to pull, maybe your hand ergo is not exactly like they design etc...makes the buttons useless for many. Being able to remove paddles, and only have 1, don't know many controllers, in fact 1, that you can do that with, except one other which is descent. My two cents. Good overall controller reviews though on your channel, appreciate you bro!
Is the controller a decent weight and not to light and cheap feeling?
I have a question, for the bottom buttons, do they have the exact same placement as the back buttons on the power a enhanced controllers?
No they are way more spread out. Feels wired to me honestly and seem to be worse and cheaply made then the second GEN
For me, this controller is a solid 8/10. I used the older Fusion Pro for years and loved it. But those paddles in the back were so bad. This new version fixed this problem with 4 real buttons, just as you put it. The only reason I don't give it a 10 is because it doesn't feature Hall Effect joysticks. I guess, it's something for them to include in the next version.
Don’t need Hall effect when they’re as accurate as they are!
That being said AVOID the cheap powerA (enhanced, advantage). Their sticks are the absolute worst! I had 1/4 joystick drift out the box. I looked in the app, never consistent. Also, the sticks themselves (what the joysticks connect to) are toothpick thin aluminum that you can feel grinding against the internal restrict or cage.
@@gun4funofficial937 Accuracy is not the reason you want HE sensors. You want them for less chance of stick drift. I have had my fair share of that problem over the years. HE minimizes that.
I did firmware update (windows store app for powera insisted on doing it), it updated fine but now the callibration is ruined totally. The controller thinks that both sticks are permentally pushed up and to the right when they are not. I can enter callibration mode but I can't exit it. dpad down + Y does nothing, tried all variations of that. Now controller is ewaste for the bin. Massive waste of money.
Lovely, I like light controllers, this looks lighter than elite one by a good bit and... the sub 4ms will mesh perfect with my 240Hz monitor, what is not to like!
I never got the big dome thumb stick in mine I did get a tall normal but not tht is tht a us thing or ?
does it have same rubmles as og series x controller?
Great video since you can’t make heads or tails of instructions I usually buy the Xbox elite I was cheap this time lol can you fix the bumper on the elite
I carefully glued pads on my buttons top ones thinner than bottoms, bottoms thicker and longer not only did it work but it felt like n elite 2
The trigger stops eventually broke on both the fusion 1+2 I had. I assumed because I hadn't heard many complaints about this problem that it was a me problem and I was pushing the triggers to hard. Not sure I will bother with the 3 if the internals for the trigger stops haven't been upgraded
Yeah it's a you thing 😂
Damn you must've been putting a lot of force to break the 😂
This is the best controller out there in my opinion because I have owned the fusion 2 and it was good but it felt like you were holding a brick but the fusion 3 is just soooo much light and smaller is size actually and I like it
I actually like the previous iterations quite a bit. The back paddles were hot GARBAGE, no doubt. BUT, PowerA actually has fantastic customer service. They sent me a warranty replacement the first time the paddles broke. Then the replacement broke of course, but even though it was way out of warranty, they sent me another free controller as a good will gesture. I’ll upgrade to this when the second replacement inevitably breaks.
I'm glad you enjoyed them. I have heard almost nothing but positive stories of their customer service so I don't doubt it.
Do you know of any services that will fix a Xbox battle beavers controller’s bumper? My bumper is broken the rest of the controller is good but the bumper is broke.
I think cinch gaming will if battle beaver wont
I use the canoe paddles to this day, lol, but I took bottom two off and put the top ones on the bottom in order to comfortably use it, but the adjusted grip ends up hurting my hands in unique ways after a while. I’m wondering if I should try this new version , might just pay a little more for something better. I’ll have to rummage through all your videos before I make a decision 😂 thanks
😂, actually it seems a lot of gamers actually like the v1/2 paddles so you are not alone brother. You’re welcome
looks great, wish we could get a decent wireless controller.
dude same
Did this controller fixed the issue with the Triggers adjusters? Like with the old Model if I adjust the Bumpers to the shortest throw it'll act like if I press the Bumper only 20% of his max power like for example if I enter a car in warzone the car won't do full speed so I had to re adjust the trigger to normal which was a huge dissapointment. With the dualsense edge you can adjust the Bumpers to the shortest throw yet you get full power when you drive a vehicle.
Hey friend. Do you mean the triggers? If so, yes they fixed the dead zone issue to were now with the trigger stops on they actuate as soon as you barely squeeze them however there is still a lot of extra take up or dead pull after you’ve already shot your gun in game
@@GamerHeavenOfficial No, I meant when you adjust the R2/L2 buttons to the lowest throw they will not function properly like if you hop on a car the car won't do max speed.
Is there a top controllers for 2023? So many options out there for xbox series x
I like the connector deep inside, i don’t need to fear about the connector snap in half all the time. because it happen twice…
You should make a tier list of controllers
I'm working on that very project
Which is better? Would you recommend me fusion pro 2 or 3, at the paddles
3, because it has buttons instead of paddles
Button over paddles baby!
I have my original fusion pro 1 from 3 years ago, having played mostly daily warzone 1 and warzone 2 for long time sessions, grinding the sh!t out of the back paddles doing slide/canceling and just one paddle went bad in feeling but still registering the input, and still having cero stick drift, mine was built to last for some lucky/weird reason, but I know the metal back paddles starts to eat the plastic paddle actuators
That’s awesome to hear! Hope that controller never craps out. I still have some trusty game pads I’ve had for yearssss
