1:43 - "which may have looked like a cause for concern BUT IT WASN'T! " 🤣 Would love to hear Matt Berry deliver that line just as menacingly as Toast of London.
Nightmare if you rode a motorcycle in those days, guffing out smelly poisonous fumes and creating mobile traffic jams of other vehicles stuck behind them. Tricky to overtake safely in cities unless roads were wide. What has the environmental impact of all those particulates been on the environment? At least modern buses are a bit better.
The video below shows the difference in air quality at Piccadilly Gardens between 1994 and 2012. Pretty shocking. Mind you, most people just accepted it as normal back then: ruclips.net/video/VRFXcgO4sOo/видео.html
Grew up riding these buses to school and college with my clipper card. Uncomfortable, loud, cramped, dirty, damp....just really turned me off buses as a mode of transport.
They were modern at the time , in the mid-eighties, amongst the most modern on the GM network. The brown colour scheme inside didn't help I'll admit : made them feel dark, cramped and dirty especially the brown floors and brown/orange flek seats. They were on the whole , part of a much more reliable network than what's left of it now .

And now Andy Burnham in Manchester is trying to do the same now under the bee network
0:01 it’s the old “wait ages then 3 come at once”
If it sounds like a typical corporate hoodwinking exercise, that's because it _was_ . GM Buses was gone by 1996.

Yup
Aye, and Stockport Road has never before or since been filmed so much, lol.
Sounds like Peter Egan, if I’m not mistaken.

Basically any classically-trained actor/voiceover artist from 1979 onwards.
Whoever it was, I'm not quite sure why they were so angry here!
