  • @AmnesiuzTV

    This is probably one of the best videos and collabs ever done, two excellent coaches with a lot in common but also opinionated due to servers maybe or personal reasons, yet the objective debate and in the end always finding the middle ground and giving people two or more things to think about that may apply to one more than the other. Fantastic.
    I came back from a 5 year break and used to be diamond and now I'm barely covering gold, so this video at first seemed not that needed for me but because of how quickly and crazy fast the game developed and the flow, the skill, going over all of this again from the two best coaches I know is essentially a jackpot.
    I have such a wide range of heroes I play and my pool is rather bigger, I feel often intuitive and have amazing days on assassins like ekko and akali, and then on other days I whip out anivia, viktor, brand. So going over all this again really helped me pinpoint my specific issues and the fact that I love assassins as much as mages depending on the day can be a crutch because you have to mentally shift on how you play every time you swap to a different hero identity which for me created issues.
    So this video made really think of: oh hey I am still pretty bad in csing, I should probably focus on mages for a bit, or choose a day where I focus on asssassins and then another day on mages so the shift doesn't hit as extremely. Obviously if there are hardcounter options with heroes you're comfortable with you should do it. But this video besides all of Curtis and Shoks content really brought it all together and will make me rewatch your videos to pinpoint specific issues.
    So thank you, that was phenomenal.

    As an OTP Diana I totaly agree about what it has been said about her. There is a lot of misconception about her role... sometimes I got flamed because I didn't dive in but they don't realize that I couldn't. All people might think it is go in > press R > win, but in reality especialy above Plat/Emeraude, that is not true at all.
    Without escape, going in is a coinflip sometime and I'd rather wait and poke until it's good enough or disengage if it's lost and my contribution won't change the result.
    Quite hard to see in a glance if it's worth diving in or not, it takes time. If you play an other assassin with escaping tools, that level of cautiousness can be a bad thing in my opinion.

    I think its also good that if you play certain champs like xerath, hwei with lots of range and poke that can bump eachother up in the rank due to them playing very similarly and transferable skill. I think its a good tierlist for learning to get to gold though, champions dont require much more thinking than reading the abilities in a practice tool for 5 minutes and getting the feel for how they play, giving you more mental capacity for thinking about your opponent, enemy jungler etc... Love the videos and I always end up learning so much from you.

    I loved the video. I'm finally glad that you explained why Annie is not such a simple character, I suffered a lot with her and forced her on myself, and it was not a good decision. I had more success with Syndra than Annie. For me, she is the ultimate "fundamental" champion. Orianna is similar, yes, but unplayable for me when the midlane is full of assassin picks and the many pyke support nautilus leona etc. It's also overwhelming for Syndra if there are too many of them in a team tbh but it's still more manageable. And what's also a huge positive, and you didn't mention it, but syndra teaches one of the most important things in teamfights, target priority. With other champs, I've noticed that I tend to slow down in that regard and hit whoever I see and can still have a decent impact, but with syndra, it's key to hit the right person because of how her ult works. This is what Syndra helped me with the most.

    2:15 malz, for me was the beginning champ. Draft league in the beginning. Getting to see what at least most mid champs do when on enemy team. Get used to controls (league is and was my first moba type game). Get used to timers and his ult learns you ups and downs of abilities and priority targets. Then you should broaden your horizon in draft to different champs/mages to get ready for ranked.

    i confirm, jungler rarely comes mid on lower ranks, if youre lissandra you might cry out of your mind, jungler doesnt care, i feel lissandra also lacks damage, i uderstand its on purpose because she has quite some CC so they decided to cut off her damage, sure you can say she does a lot of it, but its mostly when she has advantage, on equal foot she cannot 1v1 much at all, she cant even kill support 1v1 many times, depends who it is

    i play mostly kata but i was a otp yone, about kata, you are 100% right, that champ is busted but also weak af, pretty different from any other assasin in the game unique like u said. So for yone i could say he is difficult to perform at its best, thats why i think he high skill ceiling, you have a lot of tricks also you need to have a lot of things in your mind and hands sync to carry a fight and stuff, like for example his mechanichal skill requirement is low but if you are more responsive and fast then you gonna get better results, its the same for kata i could say

    • @tr1xshots188
      @tr1xshots188 7 дней назад

      also something i would like to add up about katarina is that , i could disagree with the statement that you cant transfer your skills to other assasins except kata , kata is one of the champs that her mechanical skill scales infinitely, like you could always be faster and faster with that champ cause in high elo you need to be pretty precise about pretty much everything, enemies cds, your cds , champion piorities etc, also if you are playing ap she is still considered an assasin , same glass cannon as zed,yone,draven and other champs like that so for example if you need to be careful about your hp with draven, you need to be with kat too so in general she teaches you a lot of things but you may not understand it directly but i personally can feel that my reflexes are sharper with other champs that i play even if i was an otp kat before like 1 year if you get my point, SO to sum it up, i think kata still teaches you assasin fundamentals

    This tierlist feels a bit weird... As it went on, I felt like the characteristics of what made a character good to improve on were more and more muddled. I'm not sure if that's due to 2 people giving their thoughts but I'm kinda left feeling like there are 2 tiers "champs that you say are good to improve" and "champs you said are bad to improve" but idk why they were necessarily placed there. I'm not sure if it makes sense but I feel like having some sort of obvious explained grading system would have made this easier to grasp. Also, you said you dont recommend Annie but she's in A tier, is A tier bad? In any case, love your content.

    • @vulgarity_9381
      @vulgarity_9381 12 дней назад +1

      They are a bit vague cause its a 15 minute video but what you can infer from annie is why it puts her a grade below malz. To simplify an answer to your question the difference between the tiers are not explained that well but I think its more just overall simplicity, if 2 champs are good to improve with and 1 is in S while the other is A, its most likely due to the S just being easier and more viable than the A tier. Using Annie-Malzahar as an example and also simplifying what they said; Annie has a; Long AA range that you most likely wont utilize to its full potential; 2nd is Bad waveclear that you have to focus on. Malz really just plops his abilities down and he clears the wave and his AA range is less "useable" due to the windup and (Im pretty sure is shorter than annies but im not 100% sure".

    • @karakaaa3371
      @karakaaa3371 12 дней назад

      It feels like Curtis values really simple champions that new players can find success on while Shok expects players to have a little bit more skill floor and likes champions that challenge your fundamentals and really tests that you understand them.

      they explained the reasoning you guys need to listen more carefully

    • @ShokLeague
      @ShokLeague  12 дней назад +4

      I sorta get what you mean, I think the important thing is that the champ isn't too difficult to play and will test your fundamentals without punishing you so hard for messing up those fundamentals that you end up abandoning the champion. If you take a champion like Azir, he tests the fundamentals just as well as a champion like Orianna does, but any mistakes are going to be far more costly/frustrating and the champion itself is going to detract a lot from learning the game (because it's so difficult). If you have any specific champions on the list you are unsure why they are placed there let me know!

    • @BlackjackGamer1
      @BlackjackGamer1 12 дней назад +1

      @@ShokLeague Yeah, sorry I only wanted to leave a constructive comment... I don't want it to sound like I got nothing from the video ^^'
      I think a part that left me a bit conflicted was when champions were put A tier but it almost sounded like they weren't being recommended at all which in my mind was what the lowest tier should be. That was why my original comment mentioned Annie as an example.
      Another example of things that confused me was when a champ has tools that allow it to survive disadvantageous situations... does that make it a bad improvement champ because you don't benefit from an obvious negative consequence when making a mistake or a good one because you won't get as harshly punished for making a mistake? It felt like that point was used on both sides of the argument a few times which confused me when trying to understand the characteristics to look for...
      I think it's just a different way of understanding the game that I'm not getting. Or maybe I'm just trying to understand something that's not actually useful to understand(the intention of the tiers)...That might all be part of why I'm bad though.
      Hope this comment can help in some way, otherwise I might be way off base and confused for no reason.

    I think that soring champs on fundamental mechanics would be better. for example how well does this champ prepeare you to farming and with other champions on scale 1-10 than sum it up and u have the answer. now its more about your experiences and we don t know what each champ teaches us (it s not that clear)

    The S in his new MLS program stands for Shok. It's the Mid Lane Shok program.
    On that Ahri discussion: I think it's easy to miss this in modern league, but Ahri is in fact designed as a catch assassin. Her kit has the same decision making heavy design that other assassins have, even if she doesn't have the same damage threat and very often just plays front to back in modern league. It is entirely easy to throw a fight by screwing up your charm and causing your team to lose. How many lower ELO Ahri players have you seen just press R E Q and miss both of their skill shots? Even if Ahri gets back out with her R, that can easily get your teammates killed.

    • @gagers78
      @gagers78 13 дней назад

      I think you can argue something similar for most champions without point and click abilities. A syndra that misses E doesn't do much unless they R someone squishy, Orianna misses Q, W and R what do you even do?

    • @lunacy5510
      @lunacy5510 12 дней назад

      Shok made a perfect comparison for Ahri tbh. Both Ahri and LeBlanc are mage and assassin hybrids that shares the most similarities between each other out of all champions. The difference is that LeBlanc could be classified as assassin primary and mage secondary where Ahri is the reverse of that which is also even amplified by their laning pre 6 (as LeBlanc is very agressive during that time where Ahri is more on a passive side cause if she is carelessly overaggressive she just get dunked on in lane) which is A MASSIVE importance of midlane or any lane really, but especially when learning. I'd argue that Ahri is much more of a mobility mage that in certain angles can be played as an assassin (usually when snowballing hard) where LeBlanc is more of a ranged assassin that can be played a bit like mobility poke mage into certain team comps that shut down assassin playstyle hard.

    • @yGKeKe
      @yGKeKe 12 дней назад

      @@gagers78 You quite literally can't miss a Syndra R, and Ahri's abilities have double the cooldown of Orianna's. I get your point, but it's not a fair comparison. Ori's Q is a fucking 3 second cooldown at rank 5 man. You literally get to miss it for free and recast it before triggering your W or R just to be sure you hit it lmfao. You can also jut press E on a melee champion and let them carry the ball into the middle of the enemy team, at which point you are no longer skill shot reliant in any sense. The level of decision making required to play either of those champions is not even remotely close to playing Ahri.
      The LeBlanc comparison is a lot more realistic.
      Also if you're passive on Ahri, you're probably just a bad player....which was probably his entire point. It's very easy to default to playing passively on Ahri when you shouldn't be and you don't learn what you should as a result.

    Nice one. The List seems reasonable for Silver and lower.
    But I disagree, for your main audience, Silver-Emerald. e.g. think there is no champ that forces you to think about wave management as much as Fizz. It rewards good management and punishes bad very effectively.
    I also think Champs that need to punish cd/ last hits and require spacing like ori and cassio are great for forcing to learn exactly that. It's hard to learn, but it's what you need to learn.

    • @ShokLeague
      @ShokLeague  12 дней назад +2

      Tbh I disagree with Fizz, I think in a higher level it's true you would get punished hard for bad wave control but in lower elos I have a feeling he is just going to abandon his wave and run around and get kills. Definitely agree on the punishing last hits, but there are lots of mids that can do this.

    Honestly surprised with malzahar being so high on the list considering that, as you said, it plays the game for you. Always felt like he was one of the *worst* mids for improvement bc of how badly being able to win on malz translates to being able to win as a mid laner.

    • @vulgarity_9381
      @vulgarity_9381 12 дней назад

      For bottom low elo that they are catering to, you want to translate the basics of how to "flow through" the game and simplify the little tiny macro elements. Look at korea for example, most EU streamers know korea for having the worst macro out of any of the servers and most of the high playrate champs are very mechanic heavy champs. If they say started playing mages and learned macro first, they could perhaps translate the large macro elements into the game while changing up their playstyle. Thats why Malz who skips a lot of the micromanaging elements such as wave clearing, last hitting etc is good for improvement, mostly just cause in league largescale macro is more important than other aspects. (Just my opinion tho u can interpret it how u want)

    • @ShokLeague
      @ShokLeague  12 дней назад +1

      The higher elo you go the worse Malzahar will be for learning, I think for players plat and below (what this tierlist is aimed at) it gives you a decent platform to start learning some of the fundamentals like prio usage, teamfighting as an immobile mage etc

    Cassiopeia needs a lot of clicking , baiting using Q movement speed, going when to all in, when to fight to the death, etc. By the way I am pretty sure that because you input so much movement and click so much, you match with smurfs a lot more , and this happens also when I play something like vayne or kog mow. At least to my experience the game knows you input a lot of movement commands and a lot of clicking + a lot of dmg so the game can tell you are a smurf. It is too noticeable so I thought I comment on it.

    I would love a quick input on him because I really love his skill ceiling, skirmishing, endless cc, have to pay attention to positioning but ure also mobile, but missing certain abilities in key situations can throw an entire fight. I was really hoping to hear some about Gragas

      @AmnesiuzTV 11 дней назад

      @@ShokLeague Oh how times have changed, I remember in season 2-4 where he was super popular mid and then just vanished, but thinking about it you are right. If you would give him a mid identity it would be a form of assassin if you get a lead, otherwise you go bruiser like galio which to an extent make them abit alike the only difference is galio is not really a toplaner. Thanks for the input and great video, genuinely, would love to see more collabs with you two about specific meta shifts or even something hybrid for people that have a somewhat decent understanding and making like 2 more tierlists for beginners like the one now, one for people like me that left and came back to league but used to be decent but feel stuck now and one for higher players. Though the community would be smaller to tune in, I feel like hearing the thought processes more deeply on certain heroes and their job depending on elo could really help some people find their style even more. But that's just an idea. I do feel like though I'm not the only one with a wider pool than normal.

    • @ShokLeague
      @ShokLeague  12 дней назад +1

      Of course, but there's going to be a lot of investment before you can even work on those things simply to play Irelia, and also it's going to be more difficult to learn some of the other skills that Irelia might cheapen for you. For example, Irelia doesn't really have to worry about cooldowns or resource management as much as other champions. Not saying you can't improve with Irelia, you definitely can, but it wouldn't be what I recommend to people in platinum and below.
