Yes! And the instrument that your veterans receive was likely shipped from the Kraft Music facility in Franklin, WI. Since 2013, we've shipped more than 2,000 guitars on G4V's behalf and we're proud to support the work of this great organization. Rock on! -Dave
I just bought an FG800 in sand burst. What a deal! ($320.00 Aussie) Looks good, sounds really nice and plays really well. Great set up right out of the box. Bar chords are easy and the neck feels really nice. Lots of guitar for the money.
HIGHLY recommend buying from Kraft, I got such a good deal with their bundle and got so much extra stuff. This was my first guitar that was my own and I loved the deal I got.
Ryan Peri: Would be nice if you actually detailed what you received and for how much, exactly. I mean a "good deal" is meaningless without numbers and details, yes?
@@lazurm I bought an FGX800C. It was about $340 for the guitar, case, capo, string winder, picks, Alan wrench, and strings. About a $420 value for a really food price.
Thank you for sharing this video! My father owns an acoustic Yamaha from the 1980s and I loved playing it as a kid. The resonance and deep rich tone always made me want one of my own. Thanks to this video I'm ordering one from your website and finding the bundle is an awesome deal! I'm excited to hear the results!
I just bought one of these for $200 new at a music store. I tried some more expensive Alvarez', Ovation, Dean and some others and this played and sounds nicer !
Jake: A lotta BG tunes have run under the bridge since I bought my Yamaha FG800 months ago. I used it for trading collateral for a Martin Dread. Yesterday I bought 1 of the only 2 FG800's in stock in my city. Ft Worth Texas. Like hooking up with an ole pal.got it home and tuned it to 440. And I'm off to the races. My son and I both bought Yamaha FG830's. Peronally I prefer the 800 to the 830. Selling the 830 was easy. It's in great demand nowadays. IMHO both guitars are huge bang fer tha buck guitars. Our BG band is having a parlor picking session tomorrow. Mr FG800 will be there with bells on. Am I hauling water fo the F Series Yamahas? You betcha I am.
Drew. What is a shamwow? The only misgiving I have with the FG800 is there is no strap button attached at their factory. I just installed a black boot lace near the nut and strap works fine. I didn't want to drill a hole in the neck for the strap button anyway. Button is only approx $11.00 so it wasn't the cost of the strap button
Nice loose playing and great tones you're coaxing outa that low end budget ax. I just scored an FG800 slightly used (like less than a year old and hardly ever played) for $120. The action is a bit high above fret 7 so gonna hafta go in and adjust. It also needs fresh strings as the orig factories are still on there...Martin Marquis's outa do it!
A lot of vendors have upped their game on the budget end, but for $200 the FG800 is really difficult to beat. I would mark it's closest competitor as the Epiphone AJ220S but Epiphone has raised the price on that model to $230 and the FG800 just sounds better and feels like a more intermediate grade instrument..... The exception I think may be aspiring Singer-Songwriters. They will probably find that they like shorter sustain of non-scalloped bracing and may prefer the Epiphone or better yet to hunt down a used FG700
I feel you. Been living overseas now so I have access to more guitars but I would've improved a lot faster if I had a guitar like this back then. I hope you ended up getting one cause it's really worth it.
hi ! did you change the strings that come originally ..!? any setup before making this video !?Does it really sounds like this without preamp inside..!?
Frist off I'l cover the what if's.. My son owns the FG830 and I own an Epiphone copy of the Gibson J45. I thot the Epi AJ45S and I were pals for life. But the Epi really strained to be heard over the 5 string banjos in our BG club. I took my sons Yamaha FG830 and it could be heard better. In the absence of better evidence I'm pretty sure an FG800 could be as well as a FG830 and better than my Epihone. For that reason I'm buying an FG800 tomorrow and putting the Epi on the sales block by this weekend. I can sell the Epi to another BG club member.Epi had Sustain, punch but no volume sad to say.
Guys please how can i buy this guitar i live in saudi Arabia this guitar at the shops to expansive its value is like 450 dollars can you give me website that sell this guitar please
www.adawliahshop.com/product/yamaha-guitars/fg-800/ If you can drive to Kuwait, there is a shop in Al Kout Mall, the Yamaha shop, that is on sale now. It costs around $260
A quick look at the internet will give ya several sources. Mine came from Chicago Music Exchange. Super well-packaged, it'll make the journey with no problem.
go somewhere where you can try both see which one you like better they cost the same at guitar center im pretty sure. I think all theyve changed is the bracing which changes the sound and the one that sounds best is up to you
They can't adjust before shipping. While shipping the wires has to be loosen to protect guitar from damage during shipment , As the wires if tightened creates a Huge tension on guitar neck and if it falls or have a jerk with that tension it could possibly break.
I just tested several Yamaha's and with cutaway strings are higher ? LL6 has thicker neck. So many neck shapes have to test what is suitable. I was amazed F310 it is ok sound but neck is too thin for me.
Karl Manding I have an FG700MS (the predecessor to the FG800). Although strings are personal preference, I upgraded my guitar to a bone nut and saddle, and added Elixer (expensive, but worth it) “light gauge” phosphor bronze coated strings. It sounded pretty good before, but now it sounds AMAZING. You’ll probably have to play around to see what strings work good for you with playability and provide a sound you like from your guitar.
I replaced mine with D'Addario EJ14 EXL, 80/20, 12-56, it's beefier (compared to the 12-53 that came with it), has more clarity, lasts longer as well since it's coated.
220SeaChaser Nice!! Do you have some recording samples I could hear before and after the replacement? I'm considering to replace it with a Tusq bone nut and saddle as well, but I couldn't justify spending around $120-150 (Aussie) more to have it properly replaced considering its price point at A$350, and the plastic on it isn't really that bad, needs some saddle shaving though which I did myself, action's quite high from the factory. I would probably opt to spend on an AC5R instead since it already comes with a tusq bone nut and saddle, all solid, and entirely different tonal qualities which makes it a decent pair to this one.
It's a full size Dreadnought, but the scale length is slightly smaller than the one you see on most acoustics. The standard is 25.3 - 25.5, and this is only 25".
@@gabrielkusibojovski8053 I think he means the action - the height of the srings above the frets. I have this same guitar and I had to sand down the saddle to make it more playable.
String sounds so tight, and the string height is also sounds a little high, but your level made it sounds good but I can also feel that you are not that comfortable: ) It looks hard to play.
Just set it up for lower action so it's easier to play, for the price it sounds really good. I have the electric version, FGX800C, it was hard to play at first but after sanding the saddle and replacing it with bluegrass strings, it's nearly perfect, very versatile, so just imagine how their higher end models plays and sound, really great value and gig-worthy.
Our ears are not as sharp as cats' or dogs' or bats', so there is really no need to waste hard-earned money on overly expensive musical instruments. After all, most people aren't aiming to be serious musicians, but someone who plays just for fun. A skilled musician can make wonderful music out of a cheap guitar, whereas mediocre players can only churn out so-so sounds from expensive guitars. I'm considering this guitar as my upgrade unit.
I’ve been thinking the same thing and I mean it depends if you wanna be playing it live or just a to practice on really. They both have great sound but I’m pretty sure the Yamaha isn’t an electro acoustic like the ej-200 but they’re both great just depends on what feels better to you tbh
The "standard finish" is all very nice, but I, too, wanted something a little darker; after considerable searching, I found one in "Vintage finish," which looks just right.
I own this guitar and it didn’t really sound right, but now I’ve realized why it sounds like that. I’m just really bad at guitar
haha
LOL Stay with it, mate, it gets better.
Lol
This model is the same that my veterans get when they complete 10 weeks of instruction at Guitars For Vets ... very nice guitar.

A guitar made of Nato, perfect as a diplomatic gift when discussing with NATO allies.

I do agree with all of that. Other way round regarding prices here in Sweden though, a FG800 is about 380 dollars and the AJ220 goes for 253 dollars.
whats the song called at 2:36?
sounds like some random made up jamming lick
