Hi, just want to say this is a very helpful video. Just want to check, if your country is compatible for direct shipment, do you have to worry about shipment issues after payment is done? Or is it fully settled at the check out(they added shipment already) Thanks for the tips!
If your country is on the list on Taobao, you would need to follow extra steps after purchase. Once you pay for the item, wait until it arrives to their shipping warehouse, then pay the shipping and taxes on the Taobao order you made, then you should be good to go.
Just for clarification, Taobao directly ships to the USA now?? Meaning I don’t need to use SuperBuy or any other shopping agents/third-party stuff to buy the item first then ship it to me?? I just purchase from Taobao and it directly ships to my home address?? (Sorry if it’s too much, I just want to be 100% sure before doing anything)
Yes, but its not that straight forward. USA is one of the countries that Taobao supports. The process will be slightly different. 1.) Buy the product and put your USA address in 2.) Wait for the product to arrive to the Chinese shipping warehouse for Taobao 3.) Pay the taxes and shipping fees from the warehouse on the Taobao app 4.) Then wait to receive your goods. Steps 2,3 are added when using taobao to ship directly overseas. NOTE!!!! branded items may not get passed the system and will prevent the item from being shipped. this is a possibility.
How much did you pay in all for one of the purchases you made? Like the base price of the product, and then international shipping costs from when it arrives at the warehouse.
@Dreamy_Mocha very open ended question. Rates for shipping fluctuate very frequently. As a baseline, if the product was like 300 cny and less than 2kg, shipping to use would be around 6-10$ / kg on top of that. Unfortunately, you don't know how much shipping is until the product arrives to the taobao warehouse.
Automatically? Not possible via shopify. You'll need to make a store in taobao or alibaba for that and have a Chinese company established. Otherwise needs to be done manually by using platforms like wise, western union or sending the usd to a Chinese company and sending invoice and export details to bank so they convert to cny but it's a manual process.
@@Ceddiimp For foreigners, it depends who your target audience is. Are you selling to Chinese or to foreigners? Do you have a Chinese bank account? Alot of these have factors. For starters shopify or woocommerce should work, but with no investment, almot EVERYTHING is manual. I go through this in great detail about how to start from nothing in my course. However, if you want a quick tip now: 1.) If you have Chinese bank account, verify your alipay 2.) Set up a shopify or wocommerce store and some kind of a front for customers to see your website. 3.) Accept funds in USD, and use wise or western union (with a Chinese partner better) to receive the USD in CNT via their Chinese bank account or alipay. ONLY Chinese citizens can accept. 4.) Repeat the process. Before spending all the time setting up the store, I would test with a select group of people and do manual orders to avoid wasting money on a website that doesnt sell any products the market wants.
Do they do okay with fragile things like light bulbs? Also, will items come in different boxes if I buy separately or will they be automatically put together because they are bought in a close period of time?
Definitely shipped separately when you buy from multiple suppliers. Doesn't matter if you buy them at the same time. Fragile items without a professional shipping company can be a problem. Especially with overseas shipping.
Credit cards should work fine. (as long as its visa or mastercard) Realize that not all suppliers in Taobao will have the function to accept visa or mastercards. Alot do though.
It's a painful process to be honest. Time from supplier to Taobao warehouse about 2-5 days. Time from Taobao warehouse to USA about another 7-14 days. Only after you have paid the import and shipping fee on Taobao though for the USA.
Bro I'm from south america, and I want to buy live items. Do you know some agent to buy live items. Or how to talk directly with sellers for external method. Thanks
You mean items in auction or "pre order" options? Unfortuantely, Taobao cannot ship to LATAM, but you can do a couple of options: 1.) We can provide air shipping to most LATAM places and help you place the order at borderlesscommerce.net 2.) We can also ship to a shipping agent in China that specialized in LATAM shipping if need cheaper options 3.) You can try to purchase direct on taobao yourself and send to a shipping agent in China that will ship to you in LATAM. A few choices for you to choose from. Hope that helps.
If you pay with your foreign non Chinese bank card (visa or mastercard), they will charge in USD usually. Thats if the supplier has set it up that way too.
For the payment part on Taobao, you will most likely eventually need to make an Alipay account. For just making an account, that is good enough to browse Taobao and chat with suppliers, but for the payment, usually an Alipay account is needed. You can try not to create one and see if it lets you pay with your non-Chinese bank cards.
i wanna order but idk how the shipping fees work, like how can i see how much they cost (the shipping fees) and does each seller choose their shipping fees?
You wont know until it arrives to the Taobao warehouse where it will tell you to make the payment on Taobao before they ship it. No real clear way to tell how much it will be before it arrives to their shipping warehouse.
The only way to unfreeze it, is to remember your Taobao username and chat with their customer service about unfreezing it. Worst case, create a new alipay account and taobao account if they can't solve. I had 1 account frozen and had to do that.
Two ways to overcome this. 1.) Try via your alipay account to attach your bank card directly then when you pay via alipay on Taobao, select that bank card. 2.) Some merchants in Taobao do not accept mastercard or visa as payment, so it wont work. You can try to apply for the alipay tourcard to overcome the issue. Bonus tip: Try using a VPN to access the website with a Chinese network which may solve other problems.
Depends if the item is sensitive and not certified to ship overseas. (i.e. adult products, gambling, etc.) Or if its an imported products, sometimes only Chinese citizens can buy it.
The places that taobao cannot ship to. People will need a Chinese address that is a freight forwarder company to do the shipping from China to overseas.
@@Producthelp40-c7h Taobao has a list of overseas countries they can ship too, but that is a limited amount of countries. Off the top of my head, USA, Canada, Malaysia and Singapore are on that list with a bit more. For them to ship to more places, you would have to try and negotiate with the Taobao team.
Isn't it kinda much to ask for a passeport verification? I was very down to start using Taobao but I'm not sure I will anymore with all these verification steps lol.. Isn't there another way to verify and start using Taobao without giving away too much personal info?
Very subjective answer. The cheapest ones usually give the worst service. (I.e are not willing to do any inspection but get cheapest pricing) When you are willing to pay a bit more, they are more willing to pick and pack and do more detailed inspections. Also depends if the forwarder has a special line to your country versus those that just work with dhl or ups.
If not buying in bulk and sending to a local warehouse in your country, aliexpress. If you have a proven business model and can operate a warehouse (from your home works too), 1688 better.
From Taobao? You will need a freight forwarder to receive the goods in China and then they will ship to India. Are you going to be sending large or small items? I can share contacts for either via email at service@borderlesscommerce.net
Thanks for the feedback. I had several non native English speakers say my English is too fast, so I added the subtitles so they can read along. Did you learn how to use Taobao from the video at least? If not, huge fail on my part.
You can try it. The address would be 澳大利亚 and Australia is on the list. Realize that the process to use taobao 100% would be order goods -> sent to their overseas warehouse -> pay for shipping again -> sent to your address. A bit more complicated but doable.
