The three hours of sleep might have contributed to him performing better. From personal experience I also have been capable of higher mental and physical capacity on little sleep. The day after however I would be performing half on both fronts.
@@crabb9966 not always. , most performers can't sleep properly, so increased perception, awareness and aggression can help from being tired as hormones kick in.
Interestingly ive had similar experiences where you run really well off seemingly terrible prep. Its due largely to stress hormones including adrenaline. Essentially you're "high". Guaranteed you crash later and it cant be sustained but its not unusual at all. Also.....wiiiiinnnnd.....

Sleep deprivation puts your body into fight of flight mode through a brief spike in the production of noradrenaline which could have just been what the Frenchman needed to push himself further than before...a sort of neuropsychological hack but abuse of this technique results in an increase in a release of glucocorticoids which can be neurotoxic 5:02
That's massively impressive. Has anyone checked his blood? A literal unheard-of comes on the scene, at the age of 23, just before the France Olympic Games? IF he's really that good, I'm a believer. But.....that's a awfully tall...IF.
You know, When I was a little kid, I thought the more strips you had on your shoe the faster you could run, If this guy just got some 4 stripped shoes he could win it all. ( This was my 6 year old self comment just to lighten things up. )
this definitely, actually is true though. I know this man with ten stripes and he's faster than a greyhound dog, but he doesn't compete because he doesn't want to embarrass everyone. He's a friend of my dads.
its so much fun to be a kid! I used to wonder why if your parachute failed why you just didn't shoulder roll! and ,at the same age ,i wondered how come people died in the desert why they didnt just swallow their saliva! when i read your stripe theory i just rolled!
At 2:05 you say "which may or may not be the first time that this has ever happened". It's not "it may or may not be", in this case it just isn't true, as multiple athletes have done this in history with the most recent being Van Niekerk in 2017. Why even state that it may or may not be true when it's so easy to know for certain? It took me about 45 seconds on World Athletics' page to find out that this isn't the first time.
Infallible beings of pure perfection like yourself could never not be perfect even if you tried. You "may or may not be" able to understand what "may or may not be" means and I understand you may or may not have seen the inside of a school after you turned 8.
@@BrolandMeeces I never claimed to be perfect. Of course people make mistakes. In this case however, "may or may not" translates essentially to "I didn't actually check, but maybe it could be the case", which simply feels lazy. Also a funny coincidence with the school comment since I am a teacher. (Majored in math and stats, which is probably why I prefer to see stats used properly). In this case I commented on the video because usually TRP does fairly well with his analysis and stats, but this case just felt like a moment of laziness, and if you're going to cite statistics you should probably actually check to see if they're true. I do apologize if my original comment came off overly critical or snarky. I don't want to contribute to hostile online environments. thats crazy that he only flew in that morning and had 3 hrs sleep, we English are not exactly known for our love of the French but i hope the young fella does well
What's the sleep deprivation conversation on a 9.92? Also, we need a "Less than 30 minutes later" conversion on 20.03. Factor after factor that were hindrances to great performances! Take away all the factors mentioned and it probably converts to a 9.6 and 19.47.
@@alansamuel2454 Easily. Think about that long list of things that weren't ideal and do the conversions. .01-.02 for the 'Had to pee just a little' conversion.
If it sounds too good to be true....... 3 GREAT races, some within a short time frame, winning all three in AMAZING times, some on 3 hours sleep AND,........ YOU didn't know him either! AND France aren't known for sprinters. Sorry to be sceptical but either this is a perfect storm or there just might be some enhancing products being used.
France has done just fine in the sprints though. Just 2 Olympics ago they literally had the 200m bronze medallist, and only a couple of years ago the European 100m record. I'm not at all confident that Mateo is going to be a threat globally, but I think it is absolutely ridiculous and borderline disrespectful to just assert PEDs for an athlete the first time you've ever heard of them with no evidence. It isn't even remotely uncommon for a collegiate athlete to run big PBs early in the year. Certainly not evidence to immediately begin degrading his integrity and character.
My interest wi be to see how many people of colour will be representing France this summer; whilst the President looks the other way on matters thzt concern their communities.!
...and how is he now the new fastest man in the world..? There is only ONE fastest man in the world to date and the funny thing is He's probably on a yacht somewhere having a mouth-watering cocktail or at a soca party having fun...not on a track ..Think about that !
Whoever wrote this comment has to be stupid. Usain Bolt right now is way out of his prime,he’s the fastest man of all time, but right now he’s not nearly at an elite level because he’s retired
Lyles not even close to usain bolt. You can make up records such as longest winning streak and amount of sub 20 sec 200 meter but what really matters is the world record and lyles is no where near there.
In the final collegiate race Justin Robinson 44.37
And Brian Herron 44.68 anchor both faster splits then Bailey on the day at 44.92
As Mateo continues to put in the work, stays focused, and his Coach "not" letting him peak too early, He should progress well
Love your posts. Us athletic fans need it!
Isaac Botsio from West Texas A&M just ran 9.90 with 2.2 wind at the Jo Meaker Classic (April 5th) if you want to check that out as well
