  • Many of my patients have suffered from light sleep, jaw pain, poor jaw formation for years before they find me. How can you know if orofacial myofunctional therapy can help you? Here are a few exercises or other things to help you understand how the muscles in your mouth are or are not supporting your jaws and throat.
The very best way is to get an x-ray of your jaws and a sleep assessment and and full orofacial myofunctional assessment.
Orofacial myofunctional therapy is neurological retraining of the muscles of the mouth, throat and jaw. If the tongue is not supporting the jaw, if the jaw muscles are working too hard, if a person has a tongue-tie this can lead to muscle strain and muscle disfunction. Disfunction can lead to pain. Training muscles so they are strong and useful and working correctly can bring great relief to all the muscles surrounding!
Go to my app for a few free simple and effective jaw stretches. Happymouth.passion.io or on the app store Happy Mouth. To get access to all the exercises please contact me for an assessment at Head Shoulders Teeth & Tongue.

It depends on how your muscle function or lack of muscle function is affecting your mouth. Most people come to me for an assessment if they struggle with sleep issues, jaw issues, or teeth issues. Muscles are there to support the skeleton. IF your muscles cannot o something that might mean other muscles are compensating and that creates issues. The video has more explanation as how the muscles of the mouth affect the rest of the body. ruclips.net/video/sqP2FMt-ffw/видео.html
