wow, an honest man with a review of the current RV industry. I wished that I would have found you prior to purchasing our Grand Design 2021 351m Momentum during covid. I thought that I knew a lot about RV's, especially the Grand Design line. "NOPE" the biggest dumb thing that I did was purchase a five year extended warrantee, NOT WORTH THE PAPER IT WAS WRITEN ON. Thanks for this video.
@@LisaLightning They do not honor the warranties. Right now, the 2022, 23, 24 are all having frame flex cracking issues. Do a simple search of this and as far as we can tell Brinkley is the only manufacture who has avoided this issue.
They don't honor it. The extended warranty is through a 3rd party, and they have many hoops to jump through, to the point it's not worth it. Save your money. What I did, I bought a 5th wheel in March, and did a huge trip May through July, and came back with a huge list of repairs that the 1 year manufacturer warranty took care of, provided we were willing to leave our rig for 6months plus, which we were ok with. Bottom line, the 1 year manufacturer warranty is the only benefit of buying new, which many may argue then the difference between new and used is not worth it. Just my opinion..
the industry suckered many buyers saying "buying an RV you can escape the covid and travel"...i bet now many realize they are stuck with a 12-20 year loan...so many people being laid off, the economy, the gas etc. and it's all just starting...
When I started this video, I thought, "I am going to waist 31 minutes of my life on this click-bait". Well, I hung in there. I want to apologize for pre-judging. Good video with valuable content. Have a great day!!!
Just purchased a 2024 pickup. First new vehicle and loan on a vehicle in my 80 years. Credit score of 835. Yet best interest rate I could get was 8% with 10% down. Now I better understand why. Thanks for your straightforward explanations.
@@HBRVLifestyle, That 835 credit score is rarely what it appears to be. Banks, credit unions, mortgage companies.., all have their own algorithms, and 835 to to a credit union is probably a 725 to Bank Of America.
Wait a sec, is hate to inform you but you got ripped off with 8% interest rate. I’m 45 with a 720-740 credit score, bought new gmc 1500 at4 truck, financed through gm financial at 4.9%. I don’t want to be rude but there isn’t a financial institution that wants to finance to an 80 year old, the odds are against you making it till end of term of your loan. I wasn’t trying to be rude but the rates were varying from 4-6% at time of your purchase, the big banks were actually cheaper than credit unions.
My husband wants a 21ft outdoor but we have a perfectly good paid for travel trailer that we use 3 to 4 weeks a year. Not going into debt for anything in this economy, especially for a toy
I bought a new 21' off-road, with a slide-out travel trailer in July 2022. She's a 2022 model, with upgraded 24V full solar powered....totally off-grid. I bought a huge portable RV septic to empty my black & gray tanks into, then hook the portable septic up to my Expedition to take and dump at my local dump stations. I bought my RV in northern Utah from an honest dealer, who informed me about what is really going on. He said that by 2026, the government would make it impossible to buy RVs. Reason: Millions of Americans have walked away from mortgages and rents that they could no longer afford. Those Americans bought RVs to live in full-time. Banks and rental owners have lost billions of dollars because of this phenomenon. Thus, States are now making it near impossible for RVers to overnight park at rest areas, Wal-Mart, etc., and BLM lands are becoming "no overnight stays" when we could stay 14 days to whenever. Even dump stations are becoming governmentalized and restrictive. 2023, 2024, and up RVs, will be more & more stripped with NO SOLAR POWER AVAILABLE as China and Taiwan are the producers of electrical, computers, and all digital technology suppliers to American RV manufacturing. Therefore, RV manufacturers will need to take used RV parts and put them into new RVs to sustain upgrades. Government hates us middle class, as they want us to be enslaved to the government. With RVs.....government cannot control RVers. Obama/Biden have been using George Soros money since 1994.....and still use it to overthrow the American government and our Constitutional Rights. That's why Obama's "brown army," that he spoke of, have been invading America in droves. They are here to destroy the white, Christian, patriotic Americans who Obama fears.....as we ARE the ones willing to fight for our freedoms.....and our rights. It may sound like a conspiracy theory.....I wish it was....but, when you have RV dealers telling truths about what is really going on.....THAT IS FRIGHTENING. So....I'm thankful I bought my RV in 2022. Because with God, through Jesus Christ.....I have everything, including my portable home.😊
The cheapest RV and vehicle out there is the one you own free and clear. That applies to everything you own. Take care of your stuff, and you will save thousands. 👍
@@jimsteinway695 New buyer as in a buyer who is not even a year old, a buyer who is just now purchasing their first RV, or a buyer who is looking to purchase an RV which is brand new this year? If the latter, then they need to realize that purchasing a brand new RV is probably the stupidest life decision they could ever make.
@@basketballjones6782 Not unless you have a plan and a place to go to. We go to the desert and mountains where there are no other options for lodging. My RV stays in a home shop, so maintenance is minimal. One month out of the year I cut firewood about an hour away from my house. We leave the trailer up in the mountains and haul wood down with a base camp to stay at while cutting. I also hunt a few weeks out of the year using the trailer. Then we go to the desert to ride OHVs. I bought my trailer used in 2006 while it was one year old. If I didn't do those activities, no way would I have bought the trailer. Oh, in addition, we did tent camping for years before we had kids. Then we got our first trailer (1995 Dutchman) to see if we would use it (it was great). We were done tent camping and stepped up to the bigger more expensive trailer AFTER we realized how much a trailer worked for us.
@@jimsteinway695 it doesn't...what he is saying is "good luck to you for having a 15-20 year loan...years to come, your rig then will be worth nothing and you're still paying for it...
I paid cash for my '21, I had no choice...my credit was bad because I HAD NO credit, because I had no loans or debt. I've since fixed my credit but I still will not finance anything. Even with good credit I will still only pay cash. No payment is ten times better than ANY reason to finance! As for parent companies, even though Forest River gets a bad rap, Flagstaff/Rockwood are superior quality in my experience (on my 4th Flagstaff). My '21 529RBS has been flawless! And it was a 'Covid build' custom order, paid $51K, MSRP was $63K. Great video man, thanks. First time seeing your channel, subscribed.
Most all these type (explanatory, instructional, expert advisory) videos are filled with fodder in order to make the video longer and inturn generate more advertisement revenue. Annoying & aggravating for sure.
Stay away from Grand Design. I had a new 2019 in 2018 and it was a flop. Nonstop problem after problems and their customer service was worthless. I sold it 3 years later and got a new Newmar, London Aire. I will never touch a Grand Design from experience. They have major frame flex failures and refuse to help owners.
I always tell my family that you must be willing to walk away from any deal. I had a good laugh at the Seattle RV show. One dealer was selling Cardinal fifth wheels for 98k as a special (no solar, no leveling system, 12' cubic fridge, screws falling out of some areas inside, etc...) and then one dealer selling a Durango GOLD for 99k and it had everything (even a residential dish washer). The sales guy for the Cardinal had no words. I honestly felt that was a rip-off! You're totally right, RV users are smart!
I am in the process to buy 2023 FK 26 white hawk. During the walkthrough inspection I noticed , shower glass door was off track needed to replace. Waiting for a new one. I fallow your advice even know I was ready to pay cash , I got better deal with the dealer and I have room to negotiate. Thank you for your honesty and knowledge.
I'd imagine the reason the banks don't like retired people getting loans is because retired people are going to use the RV way more than a person who is working full time. That seems pretty obvious.
Have to jump in here. When a dealer (op) tries to steer you away from paying cash, that’s a flag to me anyway. Cash vs 10% interest rate, as if you could bargain cost down 10% just because you are financing is not a great idea. And that 10% rate is every year. And those loans are front loaded so that you pay little principal at first, mostly interest. That’s why banks pay kickbacks to dealers, they are just losing a small amount. Ask for the amortization schedule showing the loan, and every month for the full term showing exact amounts going to interest and principal. Then do the math vs cash price. Most dealers will try to get every penny they can. Treat the finance transaction completely separate from the purchase price. They are different transactions, no matter what others say. NEVER TELL A DEALER YOU ARE PAYING CASH, until price is agreed on OTD. Out the door price. Always say you you’ll talk about financing after a price is agreed upon. And if a dealer refuses to do this. You need to find a different dealer. Period. You have to walk away. It’s your money, and your responsibility to manage it. It’s a business decision, nothing personal. Now, let’s say you plan to payoff the loan after immediately financing. You better make sure to read the contract to show whether it has prepayment penalties or not. You may be able to play this card. But doubtful you will come out ahead if you carry that loan 12 months or more. Good video, and thanks for a lot of useful information. 😀
Thanks for the info, I found it extremely useful and interesting, especially about having a great credit score but not working vs working and lower score. That was something I won't forget. Thanks for your information 👍
He doesn't talk about the quality of RVs. In my opinion, if you can't pay cash for this type of discretionary item, you probably don't need it. If you take the time that most people use their RV and then factor in the carrying costs, most people would probably be better off renting an RV or staying in a rental RV or cabin at a nice campground. Remember, you always have the power to say NO and walk out of the dealership. I did that with my last vehicle purchase. I walked out. I had the salesman calling me and calling me. I needed to buy a car. I had my bottom line price. I walked out for $21.00. In the end, I got the car for $500 less than I was willing to pay. You would be surprised what a salesman will do when he has a willing buyer but his need to earn the commission is much stronger than the buyer's need for the vehicle. I am sure it is the same with the RV industry. Just walk out. You can always walk back in. However, with all the nice looking stuff in the RVs, I am constantly reminded off all the horror story videos about RV quality.
RV quality is not as bad as it is made out to be. Second if every had to pay cash for items like cars and RVs, there would not be a an industry. Less than 3% of transactions in the RV industry and absolute cash! There are bad eggs in the quality area, I talk about that in other videos and my podcast
Just purchased a new Forest River Flagstaff Micro Lite model# 21FBRS listed over $42k no factory options added. Just the standard in Southeast Michigan our cash price with an additional battery was $32K OTD. We take delivery March 7 2024.
Your spot on my friend on financing and banks adding crap on. Finally sold our fuzion 2016 422 for 68k to a private party currently looking to get into a new 2023 or 2024 cannot believe the prices now compared to covid. Great time to buy.
We bought a 2022 Palomino Solaire 243HBS in November 2023. We paid in the high 20's. MSRP was listed at $43,500.00. We financed with the dealership in order to obtain the price they quoted. We also bought it on a Saturday which meant our credit union was closed. We signed the papers and they thought they had us hooked. However, we went directly to our credit union on Monday ( we inquired before purchase about an early payoff and found there wasn't any penalty) and refinanced it immediately. We also had an in with our credit union due to the fact that our daughter works there. We are both retired, but my husband has a consulting position with a company on an as needed basis which means they could still show him employed. We also have a credit score in the 800's.
We made a deposit on a new 2024 Thor Outlaw 29J, we had it inspected by a NRVIA INSPECTOR, we ran from the dealership and got our deposit back. I could not believe all the defects , some were safety issues, from the factory. Most RVs are junk and the repairs fall back on the customer because the factory warranty will say that the customer did not do the preventative maintenance. $850 saved me $120K , The is no reason that an RV cannot be inspected on the factory assembly line, the factories don’t have time for an assembly line inspection because of the mass production of junk!
This is not true. Not every RV is junk! I am sorry what happened to you and that is a great job getting an inspector out there. Happy you avoided a massive level problem. But every RV is not junk
I am glad it is working out for you. In my experience the older the rig, the more problems it has. However I get excited when someone gets something that doesnt give them fits
After watching your video I need to buy new and get my dealership market first and and use my own financing I could walk away if my algorithm is off with the company that i would purchase from and I’m a first time buyer! You basically said that I should not purchase anything used and you made a very valid point that they are selling last years product for the 2024 price I might as well purchase new!❤
3:30. Fully agree. Go look at 2024 Cars or Harleys- ZERO Difference on 98% of all models. Its parent companies KNOWING they can get away with Inflation🌅
Cash buyers will always have the power, even if they let the dealer beat or match their bank. Unless you absolutely need the item, the buyers power is his legs. Just be fair to cash buyers, they’ll be plenty of buyers needing financing that you can make your money from. Used at dealers will still make up in financing; better to pay cash for a used (even if you go to your bank). Then they’ll upsell you and in the end you paid more than buying private.
We just bought a new (2023) camper from a local dealership in early 1/24..not much negotiating, but it ended up being about 38% off MSPR. I hadn't seen this video before our purchase. However, after selling our old camper privately in early summer '23, and researching and coming up with or plan to purchase a new camper over the last 6 months, we hit almost every point you made in this video. Only thing we didn't do is take it home immediately. The dealership is storing it for us until spring (locked up and in a fenced in lot). Good video, it reassures me we did just fine. I think this video would serve potential buyers well.
After seeing this I feel like I just scored... Buying a 2019 Montana High County 330rl for 33k even though I'm installing a new roof on it already... Thank God I know how to do the work.. commercial flat roofer by trade. It'll be a thousand times better than the crap they use today.
We purchased a Brinkley Model Z 3610 in December. Salesman said that prices were going to go up in 24. Im happy that you are reflecting that sentiment. We fully optioned it and the options were basically free with dealer incentives.
Build RVs like cargo trailers: Metal frame, metal walls, metal roof, metal skin. Won't leak or burn. At least not as easily. Oh, well.... talking to the wind. 95% of RVs are wood, plastic, fiberglass and rubber and leak and rot.
We purchased new last year (22) as the covid craziness was still in full swing but there were signs it was starting to wane. We got exactly what we wanted, paid around 5% below MSRP. Quality was excellent and post sales support from dealer has been great. Paid cash so do not care what current value of unit is.
I bought a fifth wheel had it 8 years used it little was not a good investment making payments it sitting 95% of the year getting it sold was the best day
I am sorry you did not get to use it much. Normally you need to use it once a month on average for lets say weekend trips beyond normal vacation time in order to feel like you get your money's worth. Now if you pay cash for a RV that just sits, just imagine that you have a bunch of cash invested into a RV you "Hardly" Use when you can finance it, and use your cash for something that makes you money
@@HBRVLifestyle that is me! Years ago might have been nice, but no money. Now older, much older, my sister and I prefer hotel rooms. Do have an off road truck for back roads
"So everything is over priced and people are unreasonable" Just like all the dealers were/are for the last three years! Dealers get ready to kiss my shoes if you are even still in business... lol...
What about going to RV factories and ordering an RV the way you want it? Example; Removing windows, adding new windows, changing air conditioners, putting in extra cabinets, etc. Are we able to go to factories and get poplar RVs rebuilt the way we want them?
if you're near retirement, carrying credit card debt or borrowing money to buy an RV is likely going to damage your financial health. The most powerful tool for making any deal is your knowledge of the fair price AND your willingness to walk away from a potential deal that is not fair.
Regarding financing I’m 35 and purchase my first rv in April Of 2024. I got a 2022 gulfstream vista cruiser 19csk to live in when I’m off the road since I’m a truck driver. My credit was a 780 ish and I got a 10 percent interest rate 12 year loan from the local credit union. I’ve talked to older folks at campgrounds and they say that is outrageous. Personally with interest rates I felt like I got a great rate compared to others these days. Heck the other bank over here isn’t giving personal loans for Less than 11 percent with perfect credit. This was an 18,000 ish camper and I only put 500 down. I was surprised I was approved at all I tried to get a camper 2 years ago with 4 grand down and they turned me down 🤷♂️ thankful to have a camper
@@chicagochris1988 I think you did very well for having so little down payment. Normally three things affect an interest rate. One being the dollar amount financed. The more you finance the better the rate. Two down payment percentage. Then your credit history/score.
Hello, just came across your channel and I did subscribe. My past life I worked in transportation and logistics. I now teach logistics at a local college so I would like to add some food for thought on your winter warranty and parts issues piece. In addition to your insights from a manufacturer and dealer perspective here is some more. There is a yearly cycle to transportation (a.k.a "trucking"). Covid was an anomaly. The supply chain has healed itself, for the most part and is retracting in some areas, don't believe any other BS. We are back to what is called a spot market where shippers call out for "spot quotes" on moving product. This is basically trucking companies quoting against each other. Yes, that is normal, but when freight softens as it is right now, the decision to keep trucks moving and pay the bills vs. parking a truck becomes a hard reality. This ties into your warranty work. Every year post thanksgiving and Christmas the buyers of goods, you, and me the consumer are normally tapped out of cash or not in the mood to spend more. The world of logistics normally works on a 3-6-month delay depending on where the parts are in the world. Your Christmas gifts were ordered by the stores in July. So once the trucks have moved it to a warehouse, held it, then moved it to a store "in the back" to the store shelf trucking slows down. So, the pricing starts to drop. Your warranty work is 100% cost to the manufacturer. So, they want to get the lowest price as possible to move those parts to the dealership. They may spot quote trucking companies and carriers to get the lowest price to move the part. The customer becomes the pawn in a logistics and cost game during the slow time of trucking post thanksgiving and Christmas. This is a big picture game. The suppliers of parts play it with the subassembly companies and component assemblers as well. As with the RV dealerships, truck drivers take vacation as well and many companies are happy when those vacations fall in January and February. Its all tied together. Cheers, good channel.
One of the best reasons to buy direct used from a 3rd party is that most sellers will not sell you a lemon because they don't want you banging on the Home for your money back. Buy from a decent seller and most if not all the gremlins will have been taken care of. Just get a survey before you part with cash. The RV sector when they were bought by the Corporate crowd and they demanded faster builds like they are selling stuff in a Supermarket. Coupled with lousy wages, quality went out the Window. Buy used, get it checked by a good Surveyor and you will enjoy many miles of worry free driving.
This is a cool opinion. But I have had a lot of cases where RV community members have reached out to me and been absolutely screwed by private party. The difference between private party and a dealership in most states…. The dealership is required to do a safety inspection.. private party is all risk. I do like the fact that you say to have an inspector come out and look at a used coach one way or the other. I can tell you that it’s not if you have problems it’s when you have problems. no matter if you buy new or used, it is still an earthquake on wheels. So you still need a tool kit and a sense of humor
I wonder if the new Catalina vinyl wallpaper will stay attached to plywood for the next few years? They must have lost serious cash over this issue recently.
The differences between the 2023 and the 2024 Surveyor Legends are not cosmetic, but they are substantial. Solar panels went from 80w to 200 and they threw in another 200w free. So 400w The 2023 had underbelly heat. The 2024 had underbelly heat and tank heaters. And there is more. The looks of the tt are not always the most significant change.
The fact of the matter is everyone wants to pay nothing, They figure RV people are even more desperate than people with cars trying to unload them. they are Newmar Tiffin Very high and coaches are just sitting. they have to discount them to no profit Usually 200 to 250000 off And with interest rates or they are and fuel that's that's why I can make the assumptions that I make on a use coach
Wish my car, a Kia Soul, was designed for hauling even a micro trailer but the owner's manual says due to transmission design, turning radius and something else, DON'T PULL anything.
Listen to this approach. I'm 67 and have been retired for a period of 4 years. Credit score 790. The saleswoman was salivating. Yet on the credit application, I stated I was still with my last employer making 92k per year. For "other income", I stated I made $420 per month from "dividends" and that I owned my own home. They could not close me fast enough. My point is, absolutely no dealer and no bank calls your previous employer or verifies your income when you credit score is escalated. That is just laughable. I could have said I was earning $200k per year.
Depends. So there are scenarios like yours. There are a lot of factors like how much your financing, downpayment, so it really depends on the situation. I agree that there are times when your over 780 and borrowing less then 100k
Appreciate the info. Last year, I got a '99 Montana for $3300. Knowing what I know now, I'd have passed on it. I'll know bette now when I go to get my next one. Fortunately, I'm stationary for a while. 😂
I just purchased a 2024 Forest River Wildwood 22eras. However I purchased it from a Camping World location and they wanted 15% of a $36,000 and they suckered me into all the extra's. I paid $4000 down and monthly payment is $670 payment at $43,000. I pay $1000 per month and will pay it off way before the interest kicks in.
Just purchased a 2024 Salem FSX 178BHSK. Decent APR under 10% and well within my monthly price point . I had a specific request due to my tow vehicle so that one fit the bill.
we had bought our first travel trailer during the Covid years. We bought a 2022 East to West Della Terra. We realized very fast that what we bought was too small so we traded it in this fall and bought a brand new 2024 Forest River Cherokee 294GEBG We feel that the price was extremely good!
Totally agree with switches and steps. I actually really dislike the newer style steps. I do like the auto leveling in our class c, but not sure how much I would like it on a Travel Trailer.
Funny about the yearly changes. I had to call about my new Rockwood Signature. 2023 8294 - the rep told me - "wow - you COULD call that a 2024, they started building yours in March 23 and didn't finish it until July. July 2023 is when we start calling everything a 2024" ... hahahahaha .. She told me. They are identical. I told her - here in California - the REGISTRATION says 2023, so, that's what I have to call it. The only difference is - it was $20k cheaper. And - my wife and I are retired. Our score was almost perfect.
It's interesting to see private party market is a sharp divide on pricing. I bought my 29 foot single slide for 23,600 in Feb 2021 JUST as the prices started going berzerk. I knew it was going to happen. But, I also got 1K more than I paid for my 2017 22 ft. BH. AND an interest rate of 3.25%. My 23,600 Travel Trailer (identical) went as high as the low 40's by early 2022 on RV trader. Now, new is back down to within one or two thousand of what I paid, I am noticing... So, right now, I'm not upside down and I'm about even, all things considered I figure just to be safe owing right at 17K. So, what what I've noticed is, you will see like on RV trader is 2020 early 2021 USED versions of my trailer going for what I owe maybe one or two thousand more. You then see all these late manufacture 2021's and 2022's going for thousands more and not moving private sellers. I figure those are the Covid campers where they paid sky high for them and also got the high interest rates and they are so upside down they don't know what to do... And camping ain't quite what they thought it was all about AND they have a crappy quality unit. So, I thought your observations on getting out now of distinct interest. Further, I appreciate your noting that being retired effectively "hurts" your credit. I'm retired, but my wife, not quite yet... We are looking at the "retirement" travel trailer and if we make her primary on the loan,, maybe we get better rates/terms? I like your candor on all this... subscribed.
"Cash buyers & people who seek their own financing & won't let the dealer at lest attempt to get the financing for you, you've lost all negotiation power." Are you serious dude ?!?! If your RV business cannot survive without your finance department, you need to get out of the RV industry & go into the banking industry. I am currently in the market for my first RV. If I go onto a dealers lot I am looking to purchase an RV, not financing. If said dealer refuses to work with me on the price because I want to pay cash, I will take my cash elsewhere. They will be left to hold the note on that rig & no "kickbacks" for them, for who knows how long. Especially considering that in this current market you have a lot fewer buyers.
@@HBRVLifestyle Fair enough. I'm actually looking at new 2022 models; most are 50% off msrp, and some are better equipped than the newer models as you state.
I get it. Just keep in mind the difference figure between what your Jayco is worth and what new/newer ones are selling for is only going to widen. However if you are not ready, do not rush it. You will spend more money overall waiting. However if you are not ready, do not rush things.
I Hate Toy Haulers, Bunkhouses, Towables, Front Kitchens. I only Like Fifthwheels, Front Bedrooms, Jayco’s. W/Solar setups, Power inverters, & Set ups I have not brought A RV yet no money coming in yet.
@HBRVLifestyle I don't own a RV. But the complaints and videos of never ending problems out there are unreal. New home buyers are facing the same problems. The builders buy bulk. Your advice was spot on. We negotiated a truck with a dealership. Had we told them we had our own money originally, we wouldn't of gotten any money off. Places definitely rely on financing through their dealership. Question were you able to find that lady a inexpensive RV for her and her kids?
I like your insight into the RV market. I worked in the truck business for 12 years and what you say makes sense. The dealers need to make money. If they are heavily discounting last years model or even the current model one way to make up the difference is financing. If you are a cash buyer, it does limit what the dealer is willing to do. We have been looking for a couple years and the market was crazy. We paid over sticker for a new 23 Toyota due to limited supply and a time crunch. (I have never paid over sticker, and will never again) Trailers were similar. We did have time and were willing to travel a bit so we found a small 2024 trailer for $4000 less than the local dealer was willing to go on a 23. As you said the used market was very high and not much less than new due to sellers overpaying during Covid and being buried in their rigs...Look forward to getting it out this spring. Will check out some of your other videos as well.
I’m with you when I bought my Ford ranger in 2021 they were doing that customer rodeo round up sticking the Covid excuse onto the price of things that were already on the lot and blaming it on the chip shortage. There’s no chip shortage on the ones in the lot, anyway they tried to get me for as much as $8000 over invoice would’ve paid $62,000 for Ranger patience paid off. Finally got mine for about 37,000 flat out got my own home loan from the credit union skews me car loan and waited until the last dayand they finally gave in but I got no perks like free oil changes and other free stuff. I just got it straight out and I have to pay for my oil changes.
I’m thinking of getting a small camper. My suv can tow up to 3500 so most of the campers in that weight class be under $20k. I’m paying cash. I’m single so even if I had a truck I have no need for a fifth wheel. Found some msrp for 13995 after discounts. I’m thinking of offering $13k out the door since they are hurting for sales
@@Tek-eo3li if that’s the way you wanna do it that’s up to you. They won’t receive the money unless you carry the loan for at least eight months. if that’s the way you wanna play I get it.

Here is some other industry... here in Colorado and some other states, people is trying to get in to RVs for a more permanent living, there is another market for more heavy-duty materials...
Buy something a little bit older. my recommendation would be don’t spend all 250 grand on the RV. Buy something that’s about 10 years. Attempt to finance it to help rebuild your credit with half down. If not, then just pay cash. Then use some of the money that you have left over to fix it up and update it.. that’s the absolute best way to get the best deal with cash
I just purchased a 2024 Genesis Rage 2016RIKS right after thanksgiving, traded a 2022 Genesis Vortex 2815VT in on it. I first went to Camping World, what they offered for my trade was awful. I went back to Paris RV in Murray, Utah where I bought it and they offered me a much better deal overall and zero junk fees. We enjoyed our 2815VT, it was just a bit small -- but Genesis Supreme makes a great product. Very solid built, no squeaks or rattles. The group that owns and operates Genesis is top notch if you are looking for a really well built toy hauler. I was looking for the link on the changes Genesis made for the 2024 model year and could not find it.
I didn't make it through the whole video. Too much fill. But what was said about financing is largely true, whatever you buy. Dealers don't really seem to care that my credit score is over 800, nor do they want to hear me say I'm paying cash. Those positives seem to be in the past (the exception may be paying cash for a home, if you are that well set). I'm retired, thankfully do have the track record of paid off car loans. But our banker recommended taking loans out with my wife's name on the paperwork first because she's still working.

Better idea, avoid ALL the RV's, especially anything after 2019. Pay for a hotel, it is cheaper.
wow, an honest man with a review of the current RV industry.
Do they not honor the warranties? My partner wants to get a grand design and I’m starting to hear a lot of scary things.

Just purchased a 2024 pickup. First new vehicle and loan on a vehicle in my 80 years. Credit score of 835. Yet best interest rate I could get was 8% with 10% down. Now I better understand why. Thanks for your straightforward explanations.
You are very much welcome
Wow, it’s so refreshing to hear honesty from a sales person!!
Reason:
Millions of Americans have walked away from mortgages and rents that they could no longer afford.

You are very much welcome. That Shower Door will take a while to get to the dealer.
I'd imagine the reason the banks don't like retired people getting loans is because retired people are going to use the RV way more than a person who is working full time. That seems pretty obvious.
That's a different take! Nice
This is an old-school mentality. Thank you for sharing.
Yes. Walk away and find a dealer who wants to sell.

Build RVs like cargo trailers: Metal frame, metal walls, metal roof, metal skin. Won't leak or burn. At least not as easily. Oh, well.... talking to the wind. 95% of RVs are wood, plastic, fiberglass and rubber and leak and rot.

Thank you so much for your insight. Great Stuff! Thank you for the support and Happy New Year
In Australia used dealers are 20-30 thousand above private and there suffering and newer RVs are crap so there suffering
Wow
Great video! Great insight!
Thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I wonder if the new Catalina vinyl wallpaper will stay attached to plywood for the next few years? They must have lost serious cash over this issue recently.
I’m not sure if they have or not. Good question though
The differences between the 2023 and the 2024 Surveyor Legends are not cosmetic, but they are substantial.
Solar panels went from 80w to 200 and they threw in another 200w free. So 400w
The 2023 had underbelly heat. The 2024 had underbelly heat and tank heaters.
And there is more. The looks of the tt are not always the most significant change.
So the put options on it? That’s research and duplicate what others already do lol
I purchased this past August and didn’t have a problem getting a loan. I didn’t trade my old rv and I’m still having problems selling my old coach.
I am sorry to hear that about your old coach. Do you owe more money then it is worth?
Because you're trying to sell it for a 100000 more than it's worth
The fact of the matter is everyone wants to pay nothing, They figure RV people are even more desperate than people with cars trying to unload them. they are Newmar Tiffin Very high and coaches are just sitting. they have to discount them to no profit Usually 200 to 250000 off And with interest rates or they are and fuel that's that's why I can make the assumptions that I make on a use coach
Wish my car, a Kia Soul, was designed for hauling even a micro trailer but the owner's manual says due to transmission design, turning radius and something else, DON'T PULL anything.
How can the factories not understand people would rather 4-5 products made really well instead of new models every year that have no staying power?
Merry Christmas

I just purchased a 2024 Forest River Wildwood 22eras. However I purchased it from a Camping World location and they wanted 15% of a $36,000 and they suckered me into all the extra's. I paid $4000 down and monthly payment is $670 payment at $43,000. I pay $1000 per month and will pay it off way before the interest kicks in.
I’m sorry to hear your bad experience
Just purchased a 2024 Salem FSX 178BHSK. Decent APR under 10% and well within my monthly price point . I had a specific request due to my tow vehicle so that one fit the bill.
Congratulations
we had bought our first travel trailer during the Covid years. We bought a 2022 East to West Della Terra. We realized very fast that what we bought was too small so we traded it in this fall and bought a brand new 2024 Forest River Cherokee 294GEBG We feel that the price was extremely good!
Great Story. Thank you for sharing
We bought a 2024 Cougar 33RLI in Oct 23
Well for starters, the 2024 R Pod is a duel axle while the 2023 R Pod is a single axle.😒
I filmed 2 different floorplans. Rpods have always had some dual axel trailers
What about people who live full time in their rv and warranty work is needed?
That’s been even tougher
One is 2 axel 1 is single
We purchased a 2021 vanleigh beacon at 8.6% with 20% 790 fico

Totally agree with switches and steps. I actually really dislike the newer style steps. I do like the auto leveling in our class c, but not sure how much I would like it on a Travel Trailer.
Thank you for sharing. Good thoughts
I like your candor on all this... subscribed.
As long as one of you is working at the time of your next purchase you should be fine.
Bought a 2023 keystone Springdale classic 260 bhc for 21,000 including tax a little nervous have read some bad reviews on that travel trailer
Thank you for your opinion
WELL THEY DID IT, IT'S VERY HARD TO KEEP TRACK OF YOU IF YOU ARE MOBILE AND SOMEWHAT INDEPENDENT. CAN'T HAVE THAT.
I do not understand
Holy frivolous verbosity Batman! The "secret information" is that buyers should compare product & price with previous model years?!?
It should be, buy 2023 year models. They are the same as 2024 but you will get a better deal
@@HBRVLifestyle Fair enough. I'm actually looking at new 2022 models; most are 50% off msrp, and some are better equipped than the newer models as you state. For example, the Forest River toy haulers had JBL sound systems in 2022. Now they have Furrion sound systems. I'll probably wind up getting a Heartland in Feb. when I'm ready to buy. Hopefully there will still be a few 2022s available then.
@@HBRVLifestyle Why? I just bought a 2024 Micro Minnie 1800bh for 42% off MSRP... it has several upgrades over the 2023 model and it was cheaper than any 2022 or 2023 model I could find by $1,300.
@@brianthompson9485Good for you! I can tell you that Winnebago does not have that kind of mark up. So you bought a brand new coach for a 7% loss on the dealership! Great Job!
Get a used Alpenlite 5th wheel if you want a durable unit. No comparison with Indiana units.
i could live with out a couple things. as i would instal a better system than what the factory got a deal on.
1: no factory ac or holes for said. i would do a mini split.
2: no heater. as the mini split and the fake fire place would provide heat.
3: no oven, i have owned my rv for over 20 years never needed it.
4: no skylight over the shower. less holes less chance for a leak.
4: room for 4 propane tanks, i boon dock.
5: no mattress. as factory gets tossed.
6: no computer junk in the rv. just normal wired items.
7: white lights around the coach for securety, ( manual controlled/movement on).
8: better insulation in the walls, floor, celing.
9: traceable and labeled ( at both ends ) wiring. not puller stupid tight in the walls, as well as no vibration aka support it.
more?.
we bought a dynamic isata private because there was not any for sale. great vedeo.
Thank you, my friend. I love your video. Thank you for telling what's going on. I bought a brand you trailer 33 photo and guess what happened? I bought a cash and when I get Home. It was another state and went I was looking. I had a leak water leak ended. There was no way I can deal with the situation by fixing it. Because they were in another state they are crooked. That's what they this company selling trailers. Motor home day crook? Nothing but crook. I want to have one again. I don't know how am I gonna get one. Maybe private, but thank you so much for the information. They should be ashamed of themselves they think we're stupid we're not
I'm a senior person. I don't give a flip about fancy graphics. I want lightweight, a dinette, bathroom, nice bed and no bumpout or awning. Lots of cabinets. I've been interested in Coleman and a few others.
Coleman is not a very good travel trailer. Look at Springdale or Wildwood before you buy a coleman

None of them are perfect lol
I bought a new 21' off-road, with a slide-out travel trailer in July 2022. She's a 2022 model, with upgraded 24V full solar powered....totally off-grid. I bought a huge portable RV septic to empty my black & gray tanks into, then hook the portable septic up to my Expedition to take and dump at my local dump stations.
I bought my RV in northern Utah from an honest dealer, who informed me about what is really going on. He said that by 2026, the government would make it impossible to buy RVs. Reason:
Millions of Americans have walked away from mortgages and rents that they could no longer afford.

Interesting stuff, l have a 2015 Jayco and I'm not overly impressed with the quality. Thinking about upgrading just not sure right now.
I get it. Just keep in mind the difference figure between what your Jayco is worth and what new/newer ones are selling for is only going to widen. However if you are not ready, do not rush it. You will spend more money overall waiting. However if you are not ready, do not rush things.

@@mildredwebster2822 I was not unfortunately. Nobody donated any money. And I couldn’t find anything I could afford.

Thanks for this! Not really looking now, but sound advice.

The owner.
I pay for whatever the best price is. Regardless of it being private or a dealer.

Here is some other industry... here in Colorado and some other states, people is trying to get in to RVs for a more permanent living, there is another market for more heavy-duty materials...
2007 cabinet work is still great . new stuff not so much
Do a short video on buying one with cash. I got bad credit but i got 250 grand on hand. So that said what is nest way to buy with cash. Thanks
I am so happy you are enjoying the Genesis Product. I sell them near Las vegas, Nevada and is still my favorite Manufacturer of Toyhaulers
That’s pretty good advice
