Matt, I have X-Pro3, Leica Q, and Leica M (Voigt 40mm/1.4 and Summicron 50mm/2). I've never put the Voigt on the X-Pro3 but will sometime soon. I do 75% street so ANY camera works for that with enough light. I would say the M with Summicron is only slightly better than anything I've done with Fuji. I think 99% of the population could never tell the difference at all between that and APS-C. I will say the camera that beats them ALL from usability and the one I grab most often is Fuji X100V with a leather case and neck strap. NOBODY sees it when I'm doing street! Portraits are soft at f2, landscape is excellent, street is amazing, and the 35mm equivalent is tops for documentation, vacation, and I even did a product shoot with it. It's the one I grab the most, 'nuff said. But you are looking for interchangeable and I think X-Pro3 is an AMAZING camera that blows Leica away in usability, size, ergo, features, etc.

X-Pro1 shooter here…. Love that body, the sensor is brilliant for its age. But it is clunky to use and slow. Probably advise the X-Pro2 for the sensor, better EVF etc. Get an M adapter that is a helicoid type… best of both worlds, normal and macro use in one lens. Aside from depth of field differences, in real world use I doubt many people can really tell one system apart from another, especially if you’re using stylised presets to edit shots. That’s what I think anyway.

I have both Fuji and Leica. An X-pro 1 is no more clunky or slow than a Leica M and provides wonderful colours OOC. The Fuji X 35mm f1.4 is as good as Leica lenses and beats anything Voigtlander can offer. I have made excellent huge enlargements with this Fuji combination.

      @derrenleepoole 13 дней назад

@@johnhoward2577 you're not wrong. I have x3 X-Pro1 bodies and a Leica M9.... if you're a first time shooter of an X camera, the X-Pro1 isn't the quickest to operate nor is it the slowest. Just expect a more considered approach when using one to a newer body is the point I'm making.

I find that viewfinder a pain in the ass and I stick with the EVF. It’s not really a rangefinder. It’s not much different from the viewfinder on my Brownie Starlight that I had as a kid. That’s why I found the X-E2 to be the same camera as the X-Pro line, without out the useless viewfinder. 😄

Fuji X-Pro 3 is a bit quirky because of the rear screen but once you use it becomes a lot of fun. It's great for manual lenses with the official fuji x to m adapter, as you can save custom settings for each lens you use. The other fun aspect of fuji is being able to create a film recipe, save it, and then shoot the camera like film in terms of a colour profile anyway. Enjoy!

I have acquired a couple of cameras thanks to you and other constructive content creators in this space that have left me quite happy with my choices. My rotation includes the Fujifilm X-T5, Leica MP-240, Leica M3, Canon III, and Mamiya C330f. I must say that each camera satisfies different things and each has its own set of shortcomings. My Fujifilm camera is a wonderful tool to use in daylight or studio lights, but as others have noted, the X trans 5 sensor and others in the APS-C lineup struggle to produce noiseless image in low light situations. My Leica MP-240 doesn’t have image stabilization so even though it’s DNG files may perform better in low light settings once I put them in Lightroom, some shake is noticeable when I am forced to use a slower shutter speed. I recognize a tripod could help alleviate this issue but I don’t really care to carry one around for street photography. Regardless of the camera in my humble collection, I enjoy using each one. Are they perfect? Not at all but neither am I.

My journey started with XT1 2015, was happy then upgraded to XPro2. Used it for 5 years at least, traveled a good bit for street. Loved it. Felt it was becoming dated and sold it while it was still hot, actually made money on it.
Then I upgraded to a brand new XT5 the launch month. I’m happy with its performance.

@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom then there is a part of me that wants to sell my XT5 and all my Fuji lenses (I have quite a few) to put towards a Leica digital M body. I could then use my M and LTM lenses across film/digital. I do have adapters for M to Fuji X.. but with a crop sensor it just doesn’t seem ideal when the focal length changes. I’ve never actually used a Leica digital body and I’m happy with Fuji results (I love in body film recipes), so I can’t really justify the leap.

The Nikon is a dream to shoot manual lenses too; my Voigt, Zeiss and Leica lenses work really nicely.

Matt, my modern digital camera purchases started with the Fuji X-Pro1 because I viewed it as a modern Leica M6 (long story there). The camera was slow in almost all respects. The X-T1 came out, so I bought that body. Later on, I bought a used X-Pro2 as opposed to the recently released X-Pro3. The Pro3's screen was a deal killer for me. What I found with all X-trans sensors is that in certain lighting conditions, the colors are off in a non-correctible way. In harsh lighting, you can have highlight greens that are "too green" and shadows that turn magenta. Also, the phase detection pixels on the sensors in later models can actually show up in the final image. This is most noticeable in backlit settings, which is exactly how you like to shoot from what I've seen. I eventually sold all of my Fuji gear and now have: Leica iiif with Canon 50mm f/1.8 LTM lens, Leica M4-P, Leica SL, and Leica M10. My lenses are a mix of LTM lenses (Canon and Topcor) and Voigtlander (28 Ultron, 35 Ultron, 50 Nokton, 135 f/3.5 LTM Canon). I have one Leica lens now -- an old 90mm Summicron. I also kept my Lensbaby Twist 60 L mount (absolutely love that lens), and a Laowa 15mm f/2 L mount for astro work. My only other lens is a Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 that I mount to my SL. I'm very, very happy with my setup. I kept my X-Pro1 just as a shelf queen, but going back to Fuji X bodies for me would truly be going backwards.

Matt, I suggest that you try a Fujifilm X-E3. I like that I can use my dominant right eye in the electronic viewfinder, and my left eye remains open to view the entire scene. I feel that the images are sharper than my Canon 5D Mark III (Fujifilm doesn't use antialiasing filter) and the Fujifilm's electronic noise looks more like film grain to me than the Canon's RGB dots in the shadows. I have owned Leica M6 and Leica 240.
Now I use Leica SL2 with M lenses + Fuji X100VI + Fuji XT5 (40 MPS) with kit zoom + Fuji GFX 100S with GFX lenses..
For travel the X100VI or XT5 are the easiest to carry, but the sensor is small. I mostly use a Fuji kit zoom whose quality is very average compare to fixed Leica lenses but my Leica 50 mm is already a short tele on the XT. This means that is you want to use XT5 for quality pictures, you mostly have to buy X prime lenses.
If you want to use your M lenses on an hybrid, the best choice stays the SL (not tried on other brands).
General quality of the GFX system is above the SL2, but I have not tried the SL3 yet. But you have to carry the system...

Fuji X isn't as good as Leica, but you'll find a lot of Leica users came from Fuji. Both share that innate need to have a more 'traditional' experience, both in use (ISO/Shutter dials, aperture rings) and looks.
I've come from a XT5, but if you want the most similar experience, it has to be an X-Pro camera - given it's a rangefinder. Would only be fair to use the latest X-Pro 3 on that front as well!
You'll find the menus are the worst part, but get your setup right and the menus you can largely keep out of!

And I shoot this Summilux glass on the Fujifilm XT-2 with the Fujifilm “X to M Mount adapter” when I want the autofocus. You’ll be pleasantly surprised with the Summilux rendering with the older Fuji sensors(xt-1 and xt-2). It’s fantastic. And the 35mm Summilux becomes a 50mm due to the APC sensor. You might have a look at the Fujifilm X-H1. Wonderful “Made in Japan” build quality, very affordable. But if you prefer the inconspicuous Oskar Barnack compact size, try the X-E series. X-E3 or X-E4. Small, but with interchangable lenses. For lenses, you might adapt lenses, but also give the Fujifilm glass a try. Esp. the older lenses have a lot of character. The XF 35mm F1.4, the XF 18mm F2 pancake style wide-angle and the XF 56mm F1.2 (first version) can be found second hand for reasonable prices. And Viltrox recently makes some interesting budget lenses in Fuji mount.

Hi! For your style of photography the X-Pro line would be perfect for the optical viewfinder. BUT if you want to use the EVF, the X-Pro´s is to tiny. Therefore, for a first try I would suggest the X-T2! It is cheap, the last one build in Japan, therefore really relyable, has a huge EVF and the pictures are great. You don´t need the latest film simulations when you do your own presets anyway. It´s a pity, you are no longer part of the EU, I could have sent you mine ;-)

And potentially also adapting medium format lenses although I think from what I found the adapters were quite expensive as well...

The X-Pro2/3 and X-T3/4/5 are more like the M series, while the X-H2 and X-S10/20 are more like an SL/SL2. The CL is interesting in that it is small, yet more like the SL in functionality, so you might want to try an X-S10 for an apples and apples APS-C comparison. If your intent is to compare to an M, then an X-Pro2/3 or X-T3/4, or to compare to an SL, then an X-H2 (although a little more pricy). Lots of good options are out there with both Leica and Fuji. As someone else mentioned, the Voigtlander X-Mount lenses are stellar!!

Last year, I knew I really wanted a digital rangefinder, well a Leica rangerfinder, but I don't want to leave Fuji out, so when I was in NYC, I tried out a XPro2. While I really appreciate Fuji contemporary take of digital rangefinder (digital range scale, and pop-up picture-in-picture EVF for critical focus, it just wasn't a pure rangefinder experience that I was looking for; more over, at the end of the day, it is APS-C!
Fuji is tackling the digital market with a very different approach to the big three, and that is also something to commemorate their strategy; target heavily in APS-C market, and then provide a not-so medium large sensor product line. With your CL experience, I think I will suggest a XPro (original), but for a SL experience, I will say a GFX50, but that sort of rule out your lens pairing options.

Matt, you have a number of choices but I'd say if you want a camera that somewhat would remind you of an M go with the Fujifilm X-Pro3. It has a switchable OVF/EVF.
I'm an M10-R shoot but I own and still shoot with the X-Pro3 with my adapted Voigtländer lenses. The best choice would be the 28mm f2 Ultron II.
That will give you roughly 43mm in full frame FOV. It's a 26MP camera which is more than enough for what you shoot. The focus peaking is supreme and you have the ability to simulate film on all Fujifilm X and GFX models.
Keep in mind the crop factor in all Fujifilm X cameras is 1.53 not 1.5 like some people think.
If you're looking for something similar in form factor to the SL or S5 go with the X-H2 (40MP) but if you can get a good deal on the X-H2 (24MP) get that one.
These are the kits I would suggest and TTArtisan sells a close focus adapter you can use as well.

Also, the Voigtlander 21mm f4 is a great match to the X-Pro3 as well. That’s a great little lens. Also, the X-Pro3 is a faux version of the Leica M-D. The screen is completely hidden and only flips down not to the side nor does it tilt. Cuts down on chimping. Looking forward to what you decide to go with.

    Matt,
    Check out the X-Pro 3.
My only complaint is the focus aids with manual lenses aren't brilliant .. the focus peaking is ok, but the 'push to zoom' doesn't work with manual lenses .. I've end up using the hybrid viewfinder - it zooms on the focus area. It works, but can be a struggle - I can't seem to get focus 100% of the time on my TTartisan 50 f/0.95 when it's wide open, but that's not the easiest lens to focus.
The native Fuji lenses are great, the camera has a really good - in my hands - ergonomics, and I'm a huge fan of the film simulations, both built in and custom, have a look at FujiX Weekly

I came from Fuji to Leica. I’m glad I made the switch but I can also see what Fuji offers. There were several reasons for me. One was the sensors. I was never quite happy with the xtrans sensor raws. In contrast I love the files from the Leica cameras I have. The other reason were the lenses. There were some good Fuji lenses but overall I found more character in the lenses I have for my Leica cameras (not only lenses from Leica but also from Zeiss, Voigtlander). There is one lens I would have loved to take with me to the Leica system, the Fuji 35mm 1.4.

As Leica M6/M4-2 user, a 30% street, 30% portrait, 30% landscape/architecture, and 10% wildlife, OVF/right eye and 50/50 film/digital photographer. Also a compact forward, no qualms over APS-C vs FF “debate”, and Fuji GFX/Medium format film shooter. And lastly an Xpro 1-2-3 user (whew that’s alot to list) I highly recommend the Fuji XPro3. Personally the OVF integration and composition outside the viewer with frame lines is superb. More recently used with the Voightlander 35mm f1.2 and the 28mm f2 XF mount lenses, and accompanied by Fuji prime lenses for some auto focus needs , and 1x wide zoom and 1x long zoom, is the ideal setup for myself. If I had to get rid of my film cameras and digital cameras I would hold on to the Pro and a 50mm equivalent and call it a day. If any of your priorities in photography falls in line with this type of photography, it would be a great camera to try, at the very least.

Having a ton of camera's myself, and a love of film as well, AND also having Fuji's My favorite Fuji combo has been the X-T2 with old Olympus Pen glass. I don't do video with it, I don't do autofocus , I just want a fast camera that gives me pleasing pictures. I've also enjoyed using Pentax Auto-110 lenses on the Fuji APS-c sensors. I've always wanted to try an X-pro, but never committed because I'm always using focus peeking to nail it with the old manual lenses. The X-T2 just has all the controls in the right spots ( where we're used to them) and doesn't have a bunch of extra things I'll never use, and most importantly really delivers please images. All of this being said, I would still much rather have a Type 601 or 262!!! Fuji's just don't seem to be the most durable things out there from my experience.

  • @Zorki31

I've been using Fuji since the X-Pro1. If you're just testing with manual focus lenses and using the EVF, any relatively recent body will do. The X-E series are wonderfully compact with good ergonomics. The X-E3 and X-E4 are modern enough that they would work well. But if you go that route, you're entirely missing the point of the Fuji System - at least in reference to Leica users. If you want to see where Fuji excels, get an X-Pro2 or X-Pro3 and one of the "Fujicrons". The XF 35mm f2 is a good start (or the XC 35mm f2 - It's optically identical, but built with a plastic body for an entry-level price point). If you really want to fall in love, though, get the original XF 35mm f1.4. You trade a bit of sharpness wide open, but gain a *gorgeous* rendering and a "Leica Glow" versus the XF 35mm f2's more clinical rendering. When using an X-Pro camera with it's OVF and AF lenses, you get a very Leica M-like experience except the camera is far more responsive and faster to use. The OVF is accurate and can have full information if you want it. If you need absolute composition accuracy or want to use wider angle lenses, you can instantly switch to a the EVF (no awkward external EVF needed). I still use my Ms when I specifically want the M experience or when I'm shooting film Ms and want a digital camera that shares the lenses. But when I going purely for results, I grab the Fujis - no contest.

The X-Pro3 is also very nice, but the X-Pro2's extra buttons make it easier to customize. Avoid the X-Pro1 and X-T1 (or similar X-Trans 1/2 models)... although nice cameras, they're just not up to par with the X-Trans III and above sensors. The only negative about the X-Pro2 would be its dated AF, but that won't be relevant for adapted lenses. The EVF is showing its age, too.

I can't really speak for Leica, as so far I have managed to duck buying one;-) For Fuji X, I personally like the X Pro models, go for v2 or v3 unless you are happy to take a really slow camera, which is the pro 1, otherwise they all have their following. Reasons are build quality and the viewfinder experience mainly, Corner viewfinders are nice and the ability to flick between EVF and OVF (which throws crop lines) is nice for reportage, see around your subject etc. They have all the stuff you need most of the time including dual card slots. No IBIS yet, but its not much of an issue, as X Trans sensor holds up pretty well in the low light. It is to be fair a more jpeg centric camera, as the film sims are jpeg only (you can make your own of course), but I'm mostly happy with those results and don't usually worry about processing raw on the X Pro. You can adapt M mount lenses to it and they work, but native X mount lenses seem to suit the camera better in most cases (Voigtlander 27mm F2 works well). The bodies are quite a bit lighter than the Leica M, but would be a bit heavier than your CL. I quite like the CL also, but don't want to pay for the expensive glass;-)

I have the X-Pro2 and while the VM Nokton Classic f1.4 sc v2 is the most used lens on it nowadays, I also use the Summicron 50mm V5, Rokkor M 90F4 (made by Leitz) and the Nokton Classic 40mm f1.4. I also prefer the Voigtländer made Fujifilm M/XF adapter as it allows you to close focus. This is helpful.
While the X-Pro3 may be newer, I'd go with the X-Pro2. It honestly has a better OVF in terms of wider frame lines if you wany to use any native XF glass like a 16mm, and you don't have to worry about the rear LCD screen ribbon or gimmicky secondary screen breaking.

I use Fuji X for all my professional work since 2018 (University photographer) and personal work since 2013. If it was bad, I will use something else! I also use Leica M240 and had used film Leica's long time ago. If you go for the X-Pro serie, you will be disapointed by the finder. In my opinion, the X-Pro optical viewfinder is useless with a manual lens. And you will always compare the X-Pro to a Leica M...which is not except for the form factor. For a bargain Fuji X to use with your Voigtlander lenses, I will look for an X-H1. I now work mostly with an X-H2s and an X-H2 but still have and use two X-H1. With manual focusing lenses, the X-H1 is almost as good as the newest bodies for a fraction of the cost. X-H1 is, by far, the most underrated Fuji X body. Used mine two for 5 years nearly as working tools for photo and video and never had a single problem or reparation. I even dropped one in the water and been able to resurrected it by letting it in rice for a couple days and finish drying it with an hair dryer! See for yourself...

Mr. Leica - love your channel and website - look forward to your Fuji evaluations. For a few years I’ve been shooting X-T30 with LTM lenses - I prefer mechanical manual focus, but do have a few Fuji lenses to shoot autofocus sports and other fast motion. First for a fair comparison you need to edit Fuji Raw in Capture One, it renders x-Tran sensor data much better than Lightroom. I have a number of Canon and Voigtlander lenses. My favorites are Canon 50mm 1.4 LTM and CV Color Skopar 25mm f4and 35mm f2.5. On the wider CVs I get color shift - 12mm f5.6 and 21mm f4 - so I only shoot digital B&W with the Fuji. I also have Canon 100m f3.5and 135mm f3.5 which are fun when I want lots of compression. I splurged on the Fuji FX-LM adapter which gives you more access to tweak and save custom setting for up to 5 lenses. I recently returned to analog shooting, developing HP5+ at home, digitizing with the X-T30, an old Pentax M42 bellows, and Nikon 75mm enlarger lens - still learning and perfecting my analog workflow - I have a growing collection of LTM cameras… a Bessa L for the CV 12 , a Canon P for the CV 35, and I recently picked up a Barnack iiic with a Summitar 50mm. My dad had a iiif so I’ve always wanted a Barnack… now I’m eyeing a ic for my wide angle lens. -Mark

If you're not printing and are only shooting for screens, I'm not sure it matters too much. YMMV, but unless we're all looking at the same screen calibrated exactly alike, we just have to trust what you're seeing even if we don't see it. I guess it's all subjective really. Loved the XE1 when I had it years ago. I adapted an old Summitar (1950) and it was lovely on the XE1. Just adapted it to my GFX 50SII. It's also lovely with a tiny bit of vignetting. Stopped down, it's what you'd expect from a classic 50mm f2 that's nearly 75 years old. ---lol--rereading this, I sound like a cranky old guy tired of review/comparison vids. X-T30 II user here. I've coupled with 7Artisans 25mm F/1.8 and Fuji XF 35mm f/2. It's the perfect daily driver. I was planning to buy M11 but I changed the direction to Analog M. Now I'm looking for a Leica M-P. So, This little monster is better than many other Fuji cameras in terms of price/performance, especially older X-Pro and X-E models.
The new X-T30II price is the same as 8 years old x-pro2. Besides that, Fuji's optical viewfinder/range finder totally useless. (no focus patch etc.) You're already experiencing real range finder on M film or digital bodies. Before the X-T30II, I had an X-T2 and sold it 2 years ago. X-Pro2, X-E3, and X-T2 uses the same XTrans III sensor. Adobe Camera Raw (LR and PS) isn't good for rendering XTransIII Fuji Raw files. It renders weirdly and if you give some sharpness or increase the texture, you'll see the worm effect. Another downside is if you plan to use some film recipes from the Fujixweekly or your own, some newer parameters are not supported on XTrans-III. Only the downside of the X-T30II, it does not have any kind of IPX rating.
If the goal is getting a camera as small as possible but a new(relatively) sensor clear viewfinder, and small footprint, go with the X-T30II. If size not important and you don't plan to use tiny Leica lenses with the camera (because of heavy vignette), you can go with GFX-50R. Good luck.
By the way, Not preset but I have a Leica Look recipe for fuji, if you want I can share with you :)

The X100 in whatever version is a wonderful little camera. It can be a rangefinder or an SLR at the flick of a switch. No interchangeable lenses, though. The X-Pro3 is a dandy Leica-like camera. (Press the focus button and the focusing patch border turns green. It's pretty much the same as using the rangefinder.) I basically use mine when I am shooting in an environment that I don't want to expose the Leicas to, or if I need autofocus or a fast motor. And the results are just fine. I never find myself saying, "oh, I really wish I had shot that with a Leica." Just doesn't happen. Yes, I like the Leicas more, or for whatever reason. HOWEVER, to get the rangefinder-ness, you have to use a Fuji autofocus lens. With an adapted lens, it's just another SLR with an adapted lens.

Have a look at the GFX 50R. It's a rangerfinder style medium format camera. I see very cheap prices and people adapting leica lenses to it for amazing results. also It might give Fuji the best fighting chance against the Full Frame Leicas. It might also be a similar size and weight to a SL. :)

Sort of the _whole_ point of Fuji X cameras are the JPEG film simulations and getting great images straight out of the camera. You know, like a _film_ camera where you use different types of film, send in the roll for processing and get a bunch of nice prints back. Old school satisfaction.
If you're a RAW shooter and futz around constantly in post with all those expensive subscription-based software apps, pretty much _any_ RAW capable camera will be fine for that. Leica, Nikon, Sony, Canon - they all do that with pretty much the same results in the end. Since that's the point - endlessly dicking around with LR with RAW files until you get an image that looks like any other pixel-peeped to death image.
And that's not really the point of a Fujifilm X camera.

And if you really want to get the best out of a Fujifilm X camera you'll go down the rabbit hole of film recipes. This is a step beyond just selecting a different film simulation preset.
There are many websites that have dozens of film recipes to try with many sample images.
Maybe the best place to start for film recipes is Fujifilm X Weekly. Ritchie is sort of the guru for Fuji film recipes.
And yes, you _always_ want to shoot RAW + JPEG with a Fujifilm X camera. That way you can always change the film recipe later either right in the camera or by attaching the camera to a computer and using the free Fujifilm X Raw Studio software to change the film recipe to whatever you want later on.

Hi Matt, Interesting experiment. I've used X-Pro2 and X-Pro3 as well as XT4 and several 100X, plus Q2,M10,M10M, M10-R, NikonZF so am very much in this area. My favourite interchangeable lens Fuji was definitely the X-Pro2 which I've owned twice and was definitely a similar experience to the Leica M experience.

X-pro1 if you want the best 16mp's you can get from Fuji, with this more "analogic" look and if you don't care about the general speed of the camera. X-pro3 if you really need the mp's and a better autofocus..and more color presets. The x-e serie is also worth a look, smaller bodies, but you loose the ovf.

Fujifilm X series is not as good in image quality as Leica. I own the M11M and no X series camera can come close. However, the GFX100 II is epic. Just as good as my Leica… and more reliable. I also own the X100VI… it is no Leica, but it is fun to shoot with. Of the three, the Leica would have been my favorite, save for reliability. My current favorite overall is the Sony A9III. It’s an awesome camera for both photo and video… probably even more so for video.
If you want a Fujifilm and you have the pocket, the GFX100 II is the king. Add the EVF angle adapter and you achieve a next level shooting experience. Granted it’s on the larger size, but it’s a lovely camera.

A lot of Leica owners now were fuji owners before. I owned the xt2 and the xpro3. But the thing is, I look at my fuji files now and they really can’t compare to the files from the M10R. So try one of their newer 40MP cameras. Maybe the files are better. But also the lenses play a big part. A lot of fuji lenses are too corrected and they give you a very digital looking photo (not sure how else to explain it). So better adapt your lenses to it. The older fuji lenses like the 35f1.4 give you a nice look. Maybe the best fuji buy would be the XT50. If you want to go backwards then you can get the xt2 or xpro2. But condition is everything and those are the older sensors. Don’t expect them to be responsive and fast. If you could find an xt1 maybe would be an interesting one. With a vintage lens. Those were the old 16mp sensors. They had a different look. If you want the best general used fuji I would get an XT3 or xpro2 or xt2. If you can find them in good condition. You could try the xpro3. Maybe that’s easier to find.

For my professional work I’m using Hasselblad and Leica SL2/3. For personal work, I prefer someting more compact. In 2011 I started using an X100, next to my M7 and M9 (back then). In 2012, the X-Pro1 draw my attention as a potential M with AF. However, the AF was woeful and the OVF was no match for the M.
Nevertheless, I started using Fujifilm cameras on the side. The whole range of X100x and X-Prox followed, and they kept getting better, until the X-Pro3. To me, Fujifilm made a few critical mistakes with that camera. Even to date, I think the X-Pro2 came closest to a great camera. Other candidates for me are the X100V, the X-T5 (to some degree) and the X-E4. Every one of them seems to be designed with a user in mind.
The other X cameras are a mixed bag to me, which marketeers nowadays call: hybrids. The result is that unused menu options, switches, icons and modes clutter the UX, making it into a swiss knife. Do everything, but excel in nothing. Fuji really needs to completely revise the menu structure and operation modes, if they want to keep offering hybrids. It can be done nicely. Just look at Lumix. Yet, I long for an X-Pro4 that is a proper photographers camera.
As far as lenses, Fuji offers some great ones like the 23 and 33 f1.4 WR lenses. The small 35 and 50 f2, the 80 and 90 are very good as well. Yet, there are quite a few mediocre ones too, like most of their zoom lenses (except for the 10-24). They’re OK, but nothing special.
The whole GFX line never appealed to me. Too big and heavy for personal work and for professional work, I prefer the X2D (nowadays) by miles.
Today, I don’t have a Fujifilm camera anymore. For personal work I use a Q2, an M11-P (and M7 for film) and occasionally an OM1 for macro. Started my journey in 1974 with an OM1, and now ‘ending’ with an OM1. Come to think of it…actually Olympus is my real love.

    X Pro 2. Here’s why:
digital rangefinder patch w/OVF is a fun feature and a Leica person should try it and give thoughts.
    it’s within the ‘cheaper’ range
it’s more approachable than the Pro 3, which is specialized with its screen ( maybe comparable more to a Leica MD) Also, the pro 3 has a known flex cable issue: a tough sell long term
X Pro still has a EVF
X Pro looks like an X100V which is mega hyped and probably better for the RUclips algorithm
and because I want to know how close I can get to the Leica experience with one of those, and you’re the man for the job 👍🏼

I've found the X-T4 (24 MP, fully mirrorless) to be extremely effective, but any of the X-Pro cameras with a manual focus or focus clutch lens will be the closest to the Leica experience. I switched from Fuji to Leica digital because it wasn't economical having a bunch of lenses only for my digital camera and a bunch of LTM lenses that couldn't be correctly adapted due to the crop factor. Fuji cameras with Fuji glass is a killer combo if you're willing to stay in their system. Fuji X Weekly has some great in-camera film presets that I'd recommend using to get a more familiar color curve out of the pictures.
One thing to be careful about is that Fuji cameras absolutely do not retain their value like Leica cameras do, so just make sure you like whatever you're about to buy, because selling it won't be as easy.

@@Mamo878 I prefer it because I don't like to rely on rear LCDs over my viewfinder, so I just kept it closed whenever I'm not adjusting menu settings. I've found that being able to compose blind with the Leicas is a very valuable skill if done correctly, since it's not like I can tilt a screen on any of my film cameras.

I've been using a Fuji X-E3 lately and it's travels well. I can fit the camera and 5 lenses in one of those fancy British bags. Fuji lenses are very good. I've gotten some great shots using that kit. No. It's not Leica but then again I got the camera and all the lenses for $1800. You can't go wrong with Fuji. Crop sensor but it's OK. I look forward to seeing the results of your experiment. I say yes. You have taken great photos with cheap cameras so I think Fuji would bridge the gap. And it's not Sony, which should make you happy.

The X-Pro2 is a very fine camera but the hybrid viewfinder pointless if you intend to use it with adapted MF lenses. Better off with its brother, the X-T2, which has a higher magnification EVF for focussing. It's a lot cheaper too and has the same sensor and processor.

But it is very new so is still goging to be expesive. But it is by far the most of the newest fuji tech for your money. an good alternative would be an used XT4 mayby. But i think the XS-20 fits you better.
