The ULine glue gun is a rebranded Surebonder PRO9700A glue gun IIRC. Hopefully this is helpful for people who can't order from ULine for whatever reason. Also, if your addicted to McMaster-Carr a slightly newer model is P/N 66085A17.
Replacing the foam and making your own hook and loop pads are easier than you think. 3M Spray 90, gray foam, and large sheet Velcro are all you need to replace or custom make the pads.
I always appreciate Kayte’s annual Favorite Things video! I’ve added a few of her recommendations to my art space over the years! Thank you, Kayte! Those paint pens are tempting, and your skin does look great! Happy Holidays, and here’s to 2025! 🎉
That Uline glue gun looks to be a different colorway ot the Surebonder Pro2 Industrial Glue Gun (in case can't find the Uline or the Surebonder is cheaper)
Thoughtful selections, but the work surface at the end was the best. For 50 years I’ve been searching for the perfect side table for watercolor painting, and here it is. I’ll have to make some adjustments, but I think I have everything I need within easy reach at home to build my own. Thank you.
For some reason my link I just posted isn't showing- but it's an Amazon link (and from the video description). So she may be talking about an online storefront rather than an actual separate site- or maybe there's a link to a unique page in their storefront...
That mobile work station is brilliant in its simplicity and resourcefulness, but I absolutely loved the snail mucin bit. So wonderfully ridiculous and sweet. My aunt is a retired prop maker and sadly very ill now, but those visuals are exactly the kind of thing she would have come up with when I was a teenager "helping" her at the theatre every summer.
OH MY GOD! SNAIL MUCIN! YES! I literally just discovered that my new favorite face serum was made with snail secretions and I HADN'T NOTICED because I never read past "rosemary extract"; I have of course been telling everyone to guess what the secret ingredient is, which is the best part really. Thank you snails! The gift of slime!
Kayte does my favourite, favourite things videos. I think they're how I found out about the speedball scalpel and now I'm gonna have to get that sander. Maybe the glue gun too
lol, once that sander came out I was like "wait a minute..." checked my amazon orders and yep, I'm currently waiting for that exact thing to show up. I thought it would be good for 3d prints and I'm happy to know that it will be!
I love that mobile workstation! I’ve been using a pair of IKEA RÅSKOG carts, one with a table top, in a similar manner, but that has given me some ideas…
You always have the best tool recommendations! That mini reciprocating sander looks awesome. I wonder if I can make an adapter for it to attach Grobet fiber files -if you haven't tried those yet they're pretty amazing for detail work.
I've been using that Dspiae sander for a bit now, and I quite like it for hitting details on my builds. It's very comfortable to hold while I am working, and it has enough power to do a good job.
Kayte talking about the Snail Mucin induced laughing fit, I was totally expecting that it wasn't even gonna end in a product suggestion, and it was legit just - one of her favorite laughs she's had this year! And I would have been totally happy with that as like an interlude LMAO
Great video, thank you. Just an FYI, you can buy rolls of hook and loop sandpaper and cut it to whatever size you want. It's much cheaper that way particularly if you have lots of different sanding tools like I do as well.
Another great bunch of recommendations from the awesomeness of Kayte!😊 those pens are really good! And I would need buckets of snail goo to fix this picture of Dorian Grey 😅
love the chair to workstation idea... will copt that... also for small sanding I use a Milwaukee 12v 90 degree die grinder and get sanding pads etc from amazon.....
Three words: BLACK hot glue. Surebonder. Go get some. It's a game-changer. (They also have glow-in-the-dark and other interesting ones, but nothing is as much of an expectations-blower-upper as the black is. It has redefined what I do with hot glue in my shop.)
That sanding tool is slick! I like the idea of sanding without exerting the pressure as Kayte noted. Regarding the packaging. If you keep your photos in iCloud or Google photos, take a pic and you can search for those instructions often by text name or just tag it when you save it.
Only marginally related to making (well, making food maybe), but one of my favorite things is GRIPSTIC. For all those bags that won't reseal, it is a magical product.
I felt that way when I got a Surebonder Pro8000a. Looks very similar other than the trigger. May be a good option for anyone who doesn’t want to do business with Uline. Where can I see pictures of the horse?
Ok, this may sound like a weird question, but what's the diameter of the paint pens? They look like they'd be good for my plotter, but it doesn't accept fat markers.
There are wavy edge sandpaper discs that you can put on that type of sanding pad that are way better than just a round disc. You can get right up on the edge and get into really tight places. I buy them in bulk from Klingspor's Woodworking Shop.
I can certainly understand that with the oscilating tool. In my case, the solution was the Proxxon counterpart that connects to their traditional external power brick. Also learned to love the value of watercolor pens and pipette brushes to get them to transition and feather out. Amazing for stuff like book nook dioramas. Right now I'm looking for a battery-powered Dremel-like machine that doesn't weigh a kilo, but still has enough juice for 20-30 before I need to pop in the second battery. Most just come with anemic batteries or lose too much energy on things other than motor power.
@@Warshipmodelsunderway Think I know someone who has that one too. As someone who does dioramas in addition to props and scale models, I've really come to like their hot wire foam cutter and their small jigsaw (perfectly fills the niche between a scroll saw that sometimes needs to be threaded first and a regular jigsaw that's too overkill at small scales). Though their tools come at a bit of a premium, so I tend to buy them used, like the foam cutter that used to belong to a recently graduated architect.
I have an old computer desk chair, that I think I'm gonna have to look at making something like that. Would have to be used when I'm sitting though, as I'm tall and it's a standard desk chair, not a tall one like that
That mobile workstation chair looks nice. But I would totally change the regular office caster wheels for skateboard caster wheels. The larger diameter wheels are a total game changer, especially for rolling over not-perfect surfaces.
Neat 🤔 Wouldn't have bothered with the Sander because of its regular price but at ⅔ off due to the ongoing Black Friday Sale, I found it hard to pass 🤨 Considering how it operates I would probably not be referring to it being an Ultrasonic Tool though... Reciprocating seems to be the more accurate phrase 😏
Don’t you think the quicker cooling and hardening of the glue is due to the lower temperature the glue gun apparently operates at rather than the quality of the glue?
I've been using POSCA paint markers for painting my mini Star Trek ship 3D prints for years now, but I've recently got into AK markers and other non branded stuff I picked up at a store and the colour variety is a real boon. Just picked up a huge back of these Arrtx pens because of the sheer variety of colours that look to come in handy for painting a mini Enterprise-C I have XD
Every year you end up costing me money. So far you haven’t done me wrong. Mom and dad keep giving me cash at Christmas and I end up dropping on your tool list
17:43 I'm trying to be curious and not judgmental here but oof... that's rough.😂 Sometimes the best solutions are not the most obvious! I appreciate your fever dream adventurous spirit.
The first Glue gun link is not for the same one she showed. The second link pinned to comments is the same one. (with tool-less heat adjustment) The glue she has on the table is not clear and the links are to Amazon for clear sticks. If her claim of how special the glue is for cooling fast without upside down compressed air (a trip I learned from Phil) Then the Amazon link for 12" clear 'sticks is suspect as the correct glue as she has in her hand is an amber 15". The Uline site has 1/2" sticks in clear S-13693 and amber S-13694. These could be correct but it would be nice if Tested could confirm.
Did not expect one of her favorites to be Korean snail mucin 😅 Try out cosrx's clarifying treatment toner as well, been using that for ages - good stuff!
I use carpet tape(double sided) with regular sandpaper sheets. U can apply over the worn out specific sanding sheets u use. Cut to size. Much cheaper. Any grit u want.
Ah, "like $150" for a "really big box that was hard for you to carry but will last a long time". That sounds like a pretty detailed and scientific measurement.😁
It should have been super obvious that ULINE would sell some industrial grade glue guns but the thought has never crossed my mind. If they can prevent the dumb common issues like glue seeping into the internals and actually stable temperatures then it's well worth the price.
Given there are a lot of very simular looking Glu Guns i think they are made by someone like Steinel and just rebranded. This style of Gun with the 300 Watt heating element is pretty awesome despite that :) The one i got is branded by Rapid.
9:05: Those sponge sanding attachments are GREAT for the lathe as well, just chuck them up like you would a drill bit and it's the perfect thing for evenly sanding down the nub that remains after you part something off.
I don’t think you’d want to order from ULINE once you learn about the company ownership. That looks like a rebranded FastenMaster, which Adam recommended.
THANK YOU! We have worked very hard to extract ourselves from the U-Line black hole, because of the horrific politics of its CEO. wish I thought of this oh well, I got the parts from alixpress instead of amazon, half the cost.
Now I gotta go find ALL of Kayte's videos! What I like about Adam, Jen, and Kayte is they review products they USE! That little sander is awesome!
I always appreciate Kayte’s annual Favorite Things video! I’ve added a few of her recommendations to my art space over the years! Thank you, Kayte! Those paint pens are tempting, and your skin does look great! Happy Holidays, and here’s to 2025! 🎉

Great batch of tools Kayte!
No offense to any other tested team member but this is the that I look forward to the most! Always something I hadn't thought about before
Cool to see DSPIAE getting love outside of the Gundam community
That Uline glue gun looks to be a different colorway ot the Surebonder Pro2 Industrial Glue Gun (in case can't find the Uline or the Surebonder is cheaper)

Did I miss the link to the Japanese hobby site referenced at 8:28 ? I can’t see a link and that site sounds dope.
Yes please! What was the Japanese site with the other cool stuff? Also, some people would prefer not to patronize Amazon.
Was looking for that too and all I see is Amazon unfortunately
She was talking about the reciprocating sander which is a DSPIAE product, so probably there.
For some reason my link I just posted isn't showing- but it's an Amazon link (and from the video description). So she may be talking about an online storefront rather than an actual separate site- or maybe there's a link to a unique page in their storefront...
That little reciprocating sander is exactly the tool i need! I do SO much 3d print work and i've been hand sanding it all. THANK YOU!

I have the eciprocating Sander, i have also brought extra sander bits for different grits. very happy with my purchase.

Now, I'm not sure how we went from sanding to witches covered in snails, but I'm here for it.
I got the Dspiae Reciprocating sander and it is great, just need a big pack of sanding sheets.
Kayte does my favourite, favourite things videos. I think they're how I found out about the speedball scalpel and now I'm gonna have to get that sander. Maybe the glue gun too

These were all fantastic, but I now desperately want that rolling office chair work station apparatus in particular, it's so cozy and cool 🥺
I love that mobile workstation! I’ve been using a pair of IKEA RÅSKOG carts, one with a table top, in a similar manner, but that has given me some ideas…
Katie you can get air sanders with foam like that! You should try those, they hook up to a compressor!
Acrilic markers are really cool to paint miniature/sculpture details. Would recommend.
Holy moly that sanding tool is amazing.
Great Video Kayte!!! Lee Valley has 2” and 3” sanding disks with a wavy edge - they do a good job of not digging in when sanding concave surfaces.
Does the tool itself come with all the heads and sandpaper? It's not clear from their website.
@@cbjewelz It definitely does.
One day / Quick build suggestion: Upgrade “regular” glue gun to have cool features of the U-Line.
Kayte talking about the Snail Mucin induced laughing fit, I was totally expecting that it wasn't even gonna end in a product suggestion, and it was legit just - one of her favorite laughs she's had this year! And I would have been totally happy with that as like an interlude LMAO

Reduce, reuse, recycle. Bob the Builder would be proud.
virtual high five to Kayte for some great recommendations.

That sander is awesome. Definite stocking stuffer for me. Thanks
That sanding tool is slick! I like the idea of sanding without exerting the pressure as Kayte noted.
Regarding the packaging. If you keep your photos in iCloud or Google photos, take a pic and you can search for those instructions often by text name or just tag it when you save it.

100%, starting earlier and earlier just when everyone is looking for Christmas gifts, great marketing exercise by Tested.

did you test the holding strength of the colder hot glue?
Ok, this may sound like a weird question, but what's the diameter of the paint pens? They look like they'd be good for my plotter, but it doesn't accept fat markers.
What’s the Japanese store that Kayte talks about? I don’t see a link for it, just Amazon.
I am pretty sure she means AliExpress, as that’s the other place I see dsipae sold frequently
Thanks!
I thought Adam's video was going to be the riskiest to my wallet, but this one may have beat it! Thanks Kayte!
I wouldn't think of you as a "pitchman" but I'm sold on snail mucin.
Could probably replace the foam and hook and loop on the sanding attachments or turn them into something else too once the original foam dies
Kayte,
The Amazon seller for the Dspiae Sander looks sketchy to me. What’s the Japanese site you mentioned?
Thanks for the great video!
