    Hi Sarah, quick question, if you cut the freezer paper to the same size as your pattern piece, which already includes seam allowance, then sew round the edge of the freezer paper, if you then cut out the piece adding a seam allowance, and sew together on your original stitch line, haven't you enlarged the bodice by whatever seam allowance the pattern already had? Does that ridiculously convoluted run on sentence make any sense?!

    Como adquirir esta máquina?

    Do you lessen the pressure on your presser foot when you sew across the pleats? My pleats sort of lay more sideways at the top where I sew, so I wondered if I needed to lessen the pressure.

    Absolutely beautiful! Thank you for the free pattern :) I have never done pleating and wanted to try it with elastic thread on my home machine. Any thoughts?

    • @sarahclassicsewing
      @sarahclassicsewing  3 года назад

      of course! and thank you :-) if I'm understanding that correctly, elastic thread on your sewing machine sounds like shirring, which isn't the same as pleating/smocking. both produce a stretchy fabric (shirring more so than smocking), but shirring doesn't have the defined pleats. I have tried pleating via regular thread on my machine and it's really hard to execute.. this video explains ruclips.net/video/l9LMTM8x_Ys/видео.html

    Where do you buy your needles for your pleather? The ones I use to get years ago were great but the ones I have gotten the last time are not as strong and break . Therefore I have not been smoking. ☹️ I was smoking and making Angle dresses, for infants who pass away and would love to start doing it again if I can get needles that work better.

    • @sarahclassicsewing
      @sarahclassicsewing  3 года назад

      where have you tried before? I've had good luck with farmhousefabrics.com and placed one order so far with tosco, and those needles have done fine too. hope that helps :-)

Chest measures 55cm my work at moment measures 44cm. Do i need to take more out ?. How much does smovking stretch please

    I’m a little confused though. Did you pleat the whole front and back? If so, how? Or did you back smock?

    What is a Hong Kong seam?

    • @sarahclassicsewing
      @sarahclassicsewing  3 года назад +1

      you wrap the raw edge from a plain seam with another piece of fabric. i don't have a video, but i'm sure there's a bunch out there. a photo would explain it in 2 seconds ;-) it's also a way to add some personality to the inside of an unlined garment
