    Yes, very easy, one pill, five stitches later, cat 1, human 0. Next Round coming up.

    This is such a well behaved cat. I think you would have gotten away with just asking her nicely to pick it up from your hand. I'll have to give you mine for a model. He'll entertain everyone with his acrobatics.

    My cat is PSYCHO with pills, scratching, escaping from all towel wraps and then ejecting the thing several inches out of his mouth. But this worked, thank you! I already had the pill gun tool b/c I knew he would be hard. One other tip that worked was to blow on his nose to make him lick it and swallow (got that from a different video).

      Mine neither. She use to take her pills so well in soft treats but now she is elderly and her appetite is poor she doesn't like any kind of treat. Now I have to do it manually and it is so difficult. I can't even get her mouth open enough and she is fighting me the whole time. I'm so afraid I will hurt her struggling to get her meds into her.

    yep didn't work for me whatsoever. My cat ended up having pancreatitis so he wasn't eating or pooping so I took him to the vet. They sent him home too early and then I had to take him back today. but out of the pills they gave me he took two out of the four times I've tried. The last time was Saturday night and he actually attacked me and pretty much bit at chunk out of my one finger so I hate upsetting him and I was pretty upset afterwards so he hid from me for a day. now after I took him to the doctor today they showed me how easy it was and I said yeah easy for you. so they gave him a few shots that he needed and an appetite stimulant and he's been eating a little bit here and there but I just try to give him his pill before I went to bed and his mouth won't even budge no matter what. it's very hard and frustrating because you don't want to upset your cat and make him worse because he's already lost 5 lb. it's just upsetting because I need him to take his pills and He hates wet food so I can't hide it in a treat or wet food

    Can you crush the pill into powder and mix it with water to give the medication trough syringe?

    • @ThePetParentingReset
      @ThePetParentingReset  5 лет назад

      The taste if it's mixed with water would most likely make your cat foam to remove the nasty flavor, which is why compounding pharmacies make flavored liquids to give animals in place of pills, however not all medications are available in this fashion. If it works for you, go for it, but I'd venture to say that you can't accurately determine if the full dosage was administered or spit out. If you'd rather use a liquid, ask your vet if a compound is available!

    I wish I had this magic touch in giving my cat pills.It is not easy. Worse yet if prednisone, a very bitter pill that's hard to shake the taste. When I had to take it, I followe up with a pudding cup.

    • @ThePetParentingReset
      @ThePetParentingReset  6 лет назад +1

      It takes some practice, that's for sure! And a side note ... cats can't metabolize prednisone, make sure they prescribed you prednisolone!

    • @MsBiz888
      @MsBiz888 6 лет назад +1

      Hello Chris. I give 4 pills to my cat but I put them all in a capsule and one of the pills is prednisolone which is a very bitter pill. But my cat will NOT taste any of the bad flavor because it's in a capsule. And before I put it in in a pill popper, I put little bit of butter all around the capsule so it will easily glide inside the cat's throat. My cat is an F3 which is a 3rd Generation bengal. It is still wild and doesn't like being touch. I will put a video this week on how to do it.

      Yes, she is big... and it is something we have struggled with all of her life. When I found her, she was big and when I had her spayed she got even bigger. I have many other cats who are much more normal size for cats and I have a very good relationship with our vet. We have tried many different things over the years, and with some she did lose some weight. Unfortunately, she developed chronic pancreatitis and almost died because she wasn't eating. After going through all of the options with our vet, we decided that based on her health and her age (she is 14) that it would be better to let her eat what she wants to eat and hopefully not go through another bout of pancreatitis. She is large and there are many health concerns that come along with that, but she has a good quality of life right now and that is my main goal for all of my animals. This isn't the biggest she has ever been and that is all because I have worked with her in so many ways over the years. At this point she is eating and has full mobility, even climbs and jumps and she lets me know when something is wrong. I do appreciate your concern and I fully understand it, so thank you :)

    Shame poor cat! No man. So fat and owned by an expert on cat behaviour. Fail.

      She is doing well, actually. If you read through other comments on this video, you would have found out that she has thyroid issues that we have struggled with her whole life. She is now 18 years old and still happy and healthy and we have finally gotten her thyroid under control.
