i wanted to add that the song the little girl sings at the end is the song she couldn’t sing for her recital because her father didn’t show up. it’s the hawaiian song “aloha ‘oe” (i love you) and some of the lyrics when translated are, “i love you, i love you… one fond embrace, until we meet again.” she could sing it to him now because he was with her until the very end.
Putting the movie into context: 1) The daughter speaks to her dad in formal Korean as if he's a stranger, that reinforces that they're not close. 2) Busan is a city on the southern tip of the Korean Peninsula. 3) When the Korean War started in June 1950, N Korea invaded and S Korean forces were overwhelmed and retreated south. 4) Busan was the last stand and the city holds a special place in S Korean history as the only city that was never captured by the N Korean Army. So, Busan is historically the safest city of S Korea.
Woo Young Woo speaks formally to her dad as well but I'd say they are pretty close and pretty much tells him everything. But I guess she's a special case though haha
Adding to my original comment: there's a US remake in the works. But given the historical significance of the city itself, I'm not sure how the remake can do the same. Another thing about the Korean War: the invading N Korean troops were brutal and killed everyone in their path. Notice the zombies killed anyone indiscriminately. That's another form of symbolism in the movie. I hope the remake has significant American historical meaning baked into it. Not just a cash grab.

Koreans aren't allowed to own/carry guns so no chance of killing them that way for the average person. The funny thing is that every Korean man knows how to handle guns expertly cause they trained in the military. All Korean men have to serve in the military for about 2 years once they turn 18. (That's why in Squid Game, when the dad gave his daughter the toy gun, no Korean was shocked cause guns are illegal so no chance of that gun bring real.) If you notice, they weren't trying to kill the zombies like American films. The people were more interested in avoiding the zombies. The selfish bastard shows how the dad could turn out if he didn't change. Crowd mentality can be seen in most disasters. People are scared and panic so they listen to people like that asshole. There is a national children's day in Korea where kids receive gifts from parents i.e. Mother's day and Father's day which explains the first Wii present. The father got bite cause he put his hand in the asshole's mouth to protect the females from getting bitten. Father jumped off the train from the back so his daughter couldn't see him die. the old man everybody hates was the boss he was on the board at the company that owns the train he threatened to fire them if they didn't listen to him basically it just said the rich people are selfish and the poor like the homeless man sacrificed himself to save others the main character arc was to go from selfish fund manager to hero dad in the end and yes the big guy is my favorite i hate he died

How the one guy almost fell asleep while you guys were seemed tense watching those stressful scenes lol 🥲😆 The last part where the dad let his hand bitten by that zombie villain is to prevent the pregnant woman to be bitten, it takes time to take a shirt off or to think of the other ways and he needs to take an action quickly because if not, the pregnant lady will be bitten in just a second.. and maybe that was the first thing that came to his mind, distract the zombie villain by biting his hands. Thanks for watching them with subtitles (coz tbh it's way better to watch it in a raw/real voices than dubs) but next time better to find a video with a proper timing of the dialogue texts 😅

Uh-oh, young YoutUbe viewers are boarding The Train. When "Parasite" was in the theaters, RUclips recommended "Train To Busan." I HATE Zombie movies, but when the Deer got back up, I was hooked. The emotional roller coaster of this Train Ride To Hell left me drained. Kudos to the writer, director, actors, and, especially the stunt performers for creating a modern Classic. Note: A RUclips viewer living in South Korea has noticed that the train is taking the same path refugees took fleeing the North Korean invasion in the Summer of 1950.

About the only thing you miss from the subtitles is it establish the lead character 's company was the cause of the zombie outbreak.
