      @@soundscape26 It’s not wise to propose solutions to problems if we don’t understand why the problem exists in the first place. Often the cure can cause more damage than the problem itself. For example, if my kid has the flu because smoke inhalation and stress decreased his immune system, I would absolutely not appreciate a school system forcing him to go to school in spite of his vomiting simply because the school system had decided his need to be around other kids at this hard time is more important than his need to sleep and recover physically and emotionally from the trauma. If the reason kids aren’t in school is because they have gone missing, organizing search groups is the way to go. If they are actively looking for safe shelter, forcing someone to go to school if it means an extra month of being homeless because you had to prioritize your legal obligation to get to school over spending time reaching out to family, friends, landlords, charity organizations, etc. to find a safe, stable place to sleep is absolutely ridiculous. It could be something as minor as a parent letting a child who is regularly bullied at school and who has terrible teachers who don’t even understand the subjects they teach and who participate in the bullying choosing to let their kid stay at home and mourn the loss of their pet dog who died in the fire because what that child is missing at school isn’t that important anyway to a child who had parents who have severe injuries but can’t afford medical care who are fighting for their lives and who don’t have the health to walk their kids to school now that the car was destroyed in the disaster and who don’t trust sending their young kids to school by themselves in the current confusion and chaos.
      At the end of the day, school really isn’t THAT important, especially for short periods of time, and especially if the teachers don’t understand the subjects they are teaching and if the teachers and/or students are bullies. Even if you have highly competent teachers and supportive peers, missing a month or two of school may not be as important as spending time with a parent who has only been given a month to live or finding shelter for wherever you plan to sleep tonight. School is a luxury we can indulge in that has decent potential to make life better if all NEEDS have been taken care of first.
      Let’s find everyone first, make sure they are okay, see if they need any specific help, and after that as long as it doesn’t look like the parents are being abusive let’s trust parents to make the right decision in combination with their kids that is based on their unique circumstances and needs and is based on their superior love and understanding for their children, which tends to be true for all parents who are not abusive.

    So when the 2000 kids don't enroll in school in the next few months can we assume that they were victims? I hope they don't actually think people are gonna forget about this. Is this guy stalling and trying to get out in front of it a huge cover up by lying to us about enrollment? Everyday that goes by the plot thickens on Maui! Side note, If I was houseless the last thing on my mind would be school for awhile. Too early for some to adjust back into learning I think. Just my opinion.

      You are right about the plot thickening every day.. and it's far from over, not by a long shot. This is big and very bad. The war mongers fkd up big style this time. They have completely exposed themselves and their heinous plan and the world saw it. That's why the media is desperately trying to distract us with ufos, aliens & T.rump - and the rest.
      As for attending school, it's possible the 'authorities' (giving them the benefit of doubt) are just trying to get back to some resemblance of normality but getting the kids back to school so soon when they know that many of their friends and class mates are still unaccounted for seems almost cruel and heartless. I imagine trying to concentrate on lessons would be near impossible for them right now. Such a bl00dy shame.. And the parents: is returning their kids to school so soon top of their list of priorities right now? I think not.
      What the feck is really going on here? This is all so crazy..

      The school district has the address, DOB, full name of parents and siblings. So it would take a second to match up the burned zone of residences and the information in their database. Last year enrollment was about 3000. So he’s saying 1000 kids are in a school on Maui now. The other 2000 can be traced and tracked to shelters or hotels on the Red Cross and FEMA lists. So it seems to me that the Mayor, FBI, the Police Chief have a very reasonable calculation for the number of children unaccounted for.

      I have a lot of questions about this news report. I live in Washington, am a parent and grandparent and was a teacher for ten years. Never have I heard of “re-enrollment”year after year. Here you enroll your child in kindergarten and unless you move to a different school service area your child remains enrolled. No re-enrolling every year. When your child goes to
      Middle school or high school you enroll them but you don’t do it again the next year at the same school. Perhaps it’s diff in Hawaii. Even if that’s the case, with some schools having started the day before the fire and others scheduled to start the day after, the idea that 2,000 students were still not “Re-enrolled” for this year already seems off. It says to me that some moved away, some went to a different school altogether (maybe private?) and some were embarking on home-schooling. It’s very suspect to me that they are speaking about this like 2000 students died in the fire. Certainly some did but that would likely be discovered through absence rather than lack of re-enrollment.🤷‍♀️

    • @teresabringas4839
      @teresabringas4839 11 месяцев назад +13

      @@suzannemartin6817 The superintendent can easily cross reference by contacting all the schools in Maui who may receive students public or private if their home school was in or near Lahaina. He could send personnel to the shelters or hotels with Red Cross assistance etc to get a physical count. Tragically perhaps whole inter generational families may have perished together. There doesn’t seem to be many parents or people in media searching for other family members unless on Twitter or Facebook but the press doesn’t seem to be covering it.

      @@suzannemartin6817 But you’re correct most schools roll over their lists year to year. But when students transfer as I’m sure some have, the new school will note their original school especially at this time in Maui. The bottom line is that there is definitely means to get a good close count.
      The Superintendent is confusing imo. I agree with you about counting absences instead of enrolling in day 1.

Haven't seen one parent of Lahaina or even a teacher comment on anything or even post a video about anything to do with children! Could it be whole families where victims? Still the possibility of none of them having extended family somewhere else looking for them can't be ZERO. There's definitely something very worrying when there seems to be a select media coverage and/or media blackout either on the ground or through investigative reporting. Local news channels have reported that they did not have any comment from the governor's office or from the mayor's office on these questions. So even our local television reporters are being shut out.

      Well if the parents survived, why aren’t they on social or mainstream media posting?? I’ve seen two examples of grieving parent. Her son was 15 with his dog and he died. The other was a 7 year old with other adult family members who died as well. Has anyone seen any other reports anywhere of parents?I’m going to infer that many children perished with their grandparents or parents. Remember Lahaina was engulfed by 5:00 pm
      How many families tried to escape together at that time or before but caught in the chaos of traffic. Whole families were in the ocean who managed by getting out of their cars and racing for the ocean? It stands to reason that whole families may very well perished in their vehicles, on the street or at home. I did see a report where a mom just up and left after she saw the smoke from her job to go to Lahaina to pick up her teenage son in the pm around 4 ish. She couldn’t get through. The smoke was horrible and the chaos. She couldn’t reach him. The next day he was able to call her thankfully he had gotten out. After 911, many families reached out with pictures trying desperately to see if anyone had any information like speaking with them or anything. Not seeing this on media to the scale you’d expect from the survivors yet.

      I think kids are always pushed faster or at same pace as adults in traumatic experiences to be back to normal...when nothing in their life is normal. Kids will be missing. The extreme loss of a community is on a different magnitude than a house burned down. Kids do not have the coping mechanism adults have through life experiences and by having a grasp of their own emotions. School??? To learn what? What they should do is have trauma coping and recovery classes and excercises by professionals first. Trauma shows up whenever. Emotions are felt on different levels at different times. These kids will not have normality in anything when the whole community is gone as they know it. Eventually they will be back in regular school. I can't see that this is the time for actual educational classes. Focus on healing properly before shoving kids to "move on".

It’s then reasonable to assume that out of those 2000 kids, they’re in shelters, hotels, friends or some May have left Maui for another island. All that can be counted. There may be some that went to the mainland to live with family or friends there. Airlines can verify Lahaina residents based on address etc.
      Officials were doing this calculation from day 1 full stop. They have done the math. DNA can confirm to a point. They know that.

    Well what state the obvious there’s still a lot of missing people so it could be that many of these kids and their families are dead - I apologise for being so blunt but my goodness! Further these folks do not yet have a working phone or Internet service! Also many of them lost not only their homes but also their vehicles they don’t have a way to get around.

    Why are they not asking the obvious question here?? Are we supposed to believe that 2000 kids are playing hooky??? And why is the nasty chief of police saying that there are no children on the list of 'unaccounted for?' But he was kind enough to add that it might be that the parents are just negligent and didn't notify and police yet....sure, that must be it. That creep needs to be fired and investigated.

    I believe the adults bodies were charred. The bodies of the children are turned to ashes because of their small size. That means in my opinion that means the number of death is so much higher and many won't report families missing because they all died

    • @carmony13
      @carmony13 11 месяцев назад

      The DoE is not responsible for knowing the location of the children. Just another unconstitutional Alphabet Agency. The DoE better never come knocking on my door looking for my kids. These parents didn't enroll their kids .... that means these kids were missing before school and the fire started. No one reporting them missing ...tells me something "happened" to the parents...again this is all before the fire. You don't report missing kids to the DoE. Where are the missing persons reports? This whole thing is going to uncover so much BAD STUFF.

      @@CatalinaFOIA - If you look online at the Lahaina School Calendar, you will see that the day of the fire was Teachers' Day. The students were supposed to start the day AFTER the fire. The children were with their families and most of them survived. They are now all over the place, different parts of Maui, different islands, some even back on the mainland.
