Where Will Scream 7 Pick Up? After Scream 3 Or Scream 4?

- Scream 7 will be another Sidney Prescott vs Ghostface style of film. Scream 5 and Scream 6 continued the timeline but is it time to change it. Could Scream 7 be after Scream 5 or 6?

I think they can easily continue the movie almost like a continuation to Scream 6, Sidney hears about the events. Gale comes to see her and Mark but there’s another killer. I think it should be set in LA
I doubt they'll continue right after scream vi because Gale would be in recovery and it wouldn't make sense for her to pay a visit to go see sidney a day later after her attack
Rumor has it if Scream 7 does well, the studio wants to focus on Neve moving forward.
I thought the studio was selling scream after this film, because there plan was to make 3 films, and that’s it.

Would be wonderful. Sam was interesting concept, but all Barrera drama left bad taste about it, so I hope going back to ROOTS. 🤷🏻♀️
@@mbuszka5295 the drama left a bad taste because the STUDIO caused it. y’all can hate the sam/core 4/ scream 5 & 6 storyline but this franchise cannot go back to its roots because it’ll fail. scream has never gone back to its roots for a reason and it’s because it evolves as time passes and it has to outdo what came before not redoing what already happened

I feel like Scream 7 should pick up on where Sidney, Mark, and their kids went to hide in Seattle or something, I think during the event that took place in New York in Scream VI. They can add new characters from where she's (Sidney) staying at now and from there the Ghostface killing spree starts. Lol it's just a thought 🤔💭🤷🏽♂️😅
Interesting Theories Fate! They could go either way as far as continuing from Scream 5 and 6, or they can just retcon those movies, if they retcon they can do some continuation like you said from 3 and 4, but what about continuing from Scream 2? They can continue from there and at that point we could bring back the trio and it could be so many years later, maybe the focus is on Sidney and the kids being targeted, maybe they can make it so that Mark and Sidney already met, so they’re married they both come back, they don’t have to include Sidney having kids if they want to, but honestly I’m not even against them bringing back Stu as long as they do it right.
My reasoning for Scream 3 or 4 was those were Kevin Williamson and had plans for continued stories and cut out the core 4 films. You could go back to 2 or even the original but I think ppl would be more mad about that lol. Although Scream 3 is hit or miss with ppl.
It would be great as a prequel! Could start after what happened in 4.

I’m fine with and open to an alternate timeline direct sequel that ignores certain movies to bring back OG 3 as long as the story is good.
I want this movie to end with a cliffhanger that way we can get a couple more sequels out of it. They don’t kill off Ghostface in this one they get away kidnap both Sydney‘s children. She gets a phone call end of movie

It's still a sequel to five and six because guy is returning to write. Why would they ignore what two movies are the reason we're getting a seventh film. I know because core four is gone but they can still explain their absence.

That would be awesome. We would get Randy and Stu back 100%. Both Jamie Kennedy and Matthew Lillard want to return to the franchise and a direct sequel to 1996 would have them both return without any possible plotholes. Randy never died and Stu was in prison for the last ~30 years. Also we could get Dewey and Cotton back, since both would be alive and well.
A direct sequel to Scream 4 wouldn't makes sense as Gale stated in Scream 6 that the killer is the tenth guy to try the call trick so it is absolutely illogical to rewrite that script and change count of ghostface killers😂

It 100% should be set after Scream 6. It is called Scream 7 after all.
We don't know what this film is called yet. People are just calling it Scream 7 because it's the 7th film but as you saw with Scream 5 it wasn't called Scream 5
Saw 10 is called Saw X yet it takes place in between 1 and 2
I can’t get over the age discrepancies if you were to go back/ retcon. all of these main characters have aged and it would be almost impossible to pull that off and you definitely do not want a bunch of CGI just to make people look younger
Im more for present day and a new fresh male lead with Sidney and Mark included as couple.

@@FateDecided It's entirely possible for him to return. Matthew is open to come back as Stu now with Neve back. And Guy is a Stu believer. He himself said in front of the camera that he wants to bring Stu back. Stu just couldn't return in 6, because Matthew didn't want to return without Neve.
I wouldn't absolutely HATE it if they did, but I'm not a fan of retcons - it takes me out of the immersion a lot, especially with 5 & 6 being so recent. I'd rather they just briefly acknowledge the events of 5 & 6, briefly explain where Sam and Tara are at, and moved on with the new story. Even though I don't love 5 & 6, I'd rather they didn't erase those events.
The only good thing that would come out of a retcon would be that we'd get Dewey back, but I don't know if I'd want that either way. As much as I love Dewey, I think they should keep continuity. And besides, keeping Dewey dead keeps the stakes somewhat raised.
If they DID happen to retcon it, I don't see why they couldn't just continue from the events of 4. It was a good movie and nothing meta-changing happened in it. And we'd still have Kirby.
What is there left to do with SCREAM.
It would be a very dumb approach to place this anywhere but after Scream 6. All stakes for the main 3 would be taken away. Stakes are important in this franchise and when people don’t realize that we get characters with absurd plot armor that never die. 6 was ridiculous in that aspect
I didn’t fall in love with this franchise because they made safe choices. Randy was my fav character, but his death was the moment I was all in. It really is so damn important and people don’t seem to realize it.
I get that but if we are being honest besides Scream 5 there weren't any real stakes. The OG 3 always survived, Dewey would be brutally attacked but survive. Scream 6 just made it more ridiculous
