Like so many this is how I saw Elite II in my mind when playing back in the day. This remake is superb. Now just for them atmospheric landings to be added into the game. Well done Cmdrs.

Now this, this sent shivers down my spine. If you had ever played the original on Amiga or Atari ST, you would be absolutely nostalgic at watching this. What a fitting, and beautiful remake of the Frontier intro. The music, oh my word, the absolute sweet gorgeous music. Such a befitting and beautiful remake of a classic intro. I played on DOS. Why does DOS get no love. I think it is the best version of elite 2.
@@acklord7145 oh yes. After I had my Amiga, I actually did get Frontier on DOS. Much higher frame rates and better than Amiga version in general. Thankyou for refreshing my memory.

FINALLY, the long awaited remake has been done. Never thought the day would come to watch the full on orchestral version of Frontiers OP getting the 21st Century treatment. This video is going straight into my Favourites.

Good job! Frontier Elite II was the first thing I fired up after I bought my 68030 accelerator for my old Amiga 1200. I remember my first reaction to the intro was "oh, so it's not a slideshow then..."
Thank you. Same here. My first accelerator was a Blizzard 1260/50. If I recall, I had to play a WHDLoad installed version to fix a few issues, but it ran like a dream & made me want even more in the game.
Brilliant work got me right in the feels, takes me right back to my Amiga days.
If they had just remade Frontier to look like this I would have thrown money at them but I am not complaining Dangerous is what it is. still what we could have had.......
And it will be what you want it to be. Have you seen the tech they have in Planet Coaster & the upcoming Jurassic World Evolution? It'd be foolish to not believe that all that work is going towards making populated atmospheric planets be an amazing feature.

this is a work of art. i really wish they had something like this at the start of the game before the menu screen. not only is it just as good as the trailer i saw for Elite in the cinema last year but its more honest using gameplay footage.

Ahhh so good. So old school. Nice work folks. The intro was my favorite part of Frontier because I found that game so hard I'd just watch the intro over and over instead of playing and getting lost or dying, hehe.
Must admit, I put in loads of time watching the intro too. Got well into Elite Dangerous though. Maybe it was all a bit much when I was younger.

Very nice!! The music from FE:2 and FFE was so amazing....I was disappointed it wasn't actually included in E:D.
I also bought the Uncle Art CD and it is pretty epic in it's own right. That score was always meant to be played by an actual orchestra and I am thrilled that it has finally done so. Now if only all of the other themes used in FE:2 were updated and included such as the Hall of the Mountain King and Blue Danube (without needing to outfit a docking computer that is).......

Excellent work FuZion, while browsing and replicating my archives I just had to install the old frontier on dosbox for a bit nostalgia, what a brilliant game it is and this is a very fitting tribute and replication of that classic intro sequence. Well done!
Absolutely epic remake of the intro. I know that the FE2 intro is pretty cheesy by today’s standards but I just can’t stop watching it, it’s so cool

Of course now there are megaships that can double as the long range cruiser.
We've bounced ideas around, but are wondering if we should await the next planets update. Course, none of us know how long that'll be but when you look at the atmospheric effects in Planet Coaster, you know they're making great progress on the sly :D
I think it'll be a while before we get ELWs, but I'm pretty sure 3.x will have some atmospheric worlds. Definitely looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with using the camera suite.

Don't be sad. We'll get everything we want, but building a galaxy is a MASSIVE undertaking. It's virtually impossible to start considering how much work is involved in giving us all that has been promised.
If it helps a little, look at the tech they've put into Planet Coaster and Jurassic Park. Now imagine those technologies being developed further and used in ED.
Every time I see their other games, I see them building the tech needed. It'll come, you gotta believe that.
FuZion DCA thing are looking very promising for Beyond Q4, I have faith Frontier will deliver. Mining and Exploration are getting huge makeovers, they are stepping things up nicely.
Let's be honest, oh long-term Elite fans. Wouldn't you have made a loud 'Squee' noise if Frontier had made something like this as the opening of Elite: Dangerous?

Yes, elite 2 on the Amiga was a single floppy disk, blew my mind even at the time.

Yes I can confirm that it definitely was one floppy disk (I have it in my hand as I type this) for Frontier Elite 2 on Amiga - and the most amazing thing - it's not even a full floppy - less than 3/4 full of the massive 720kb on offer! Amazing - this people is why these 80s coders were kings - I'd love to see today's call of duty team attempt this (120+GB for a 1080p game - insane! - and it's only one planet!)

One thing I always react to watching this is how much the ship keeps spinning, which is something I tend to do as well. Especially in combat, "that's a neat trick" ;) constant use of spinning and manouvering thrusters.
