    Great to see the float move Dan, it really is an exciting moment especially when you've spent hours watching a motionless float. I think piking is one of the most testing of angling disciplines.

      i agree mate i dint really care on size either the float coming alive is where it is for me, i agree its hard to make meaning ful changes i find, yeah you can pop up a bait etc but not as much as you can in say trotting to change and get bites

    Great vid as usual Danny - wise words to stick with your own proven methods / rigs when visiting a new venue.
    With pike being 'finicky' at this time of year, I always strike early regardless, just so I don't get a deep hook up - a lost pike is always better than a potential dead pike through deep hooking.
    Keep up the excellent work - tight lines mate and stay safe.

    • @DannysAnglingBlog
      @DannysAnglingBlog  3 года назад

      cheers bro glad enjoyed the vlog, when to strike is such a dividing subject but i always say you have go with when you get that gut feeling to strike and form that point your fate is sealed re catching it. but to anyone new striking straight away is deffo best.

    Hi Dan can you help me I'm new 2 2 2 pike fishing went to day mate and and found it very hard I was wondering when you make your wire traces do you have a long tracer to the rig I'm using very small rigs and there is small Tracey did you say that 18- inch wondering if that could be the problem

    • @DannysAnglingBlog
      @DannysAnglingBlog  Год назад

      i mae my own theres a video recently on channel i start by 21 inches with idea end trace us 18 inches. length of trace wont effect actual takes most critical part in piking is location mate, if your geting no bites pike are now there

    Great video but why do pike anglers , go so heavy. 3 1/4 LB test rod 60lb line. Surely you want to feel the fight of a 10/20lb pike. And not just drag it in

    • @DannysAnglingBlog
      @DannysAnglingBlog  3 года назад

      To be honest you are right re the rod on this venue but
      1. Being and alrounder and having set ups ready to go for all species it helps to have one holdall with rods that can handle any venue I go. Having multiple pike set ups would just mean holdalls everywhere.
      2. I don't know what this venue holds remember for all I know that jack could been 20lb plus and that close to so many reeds I woukd be thankful of the power to stop it heading to them
      Re line 60lb that's pure and simple to not leave set ups on the bottom the 60lb means you can pull most snags out or very least bend your trebles. So line is nothing do with fight more pike safety.
      Hope thag clears up them points mate
