  • I tested out the Danby 3 in 1, the Hisense, DeLonghi, Tosot and the Midea to find out which is the best portable air conditioner.
    In this video I explain why the Danby 3 in 1 in the best portable air conditioner. Well, least crappy portable air conditioner.
    I'm still on the hunt for the best portable air conditioner but for now the best portable air conditioner seems to be the Danby 3 in 1.

    There's water paddles on the inside that flings condensated water onto the burning hot heatsinks.
    Stronge high 12k btu should be able to make the plates hot enough to vaporize the water into steam which gwts shot outside : P
    Weaker units will stall if a draining hose isnt attached. They cant vaporize the water fast enough and end being water logged which doesnt cool too good explaining why the compressor is barely functionning

    Ummm you are connecting a second hose to the white one (Hisense I presume) correct? I'm assuming that's just how you have it setup for this demonstration. Otherwise you're building negative pressure and causing outside air to leak into the house warming it back up.

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  Месяц назад +2

      It depends on what model you have dude. This one only came with one hose because it’s not a dual hose system. Yes you are right, a dual hose model is superior because it draws in outside air instead of sucking inside air into the unit and exhausting it. Don’t cheap out, get a dual hose model (not shown in this demonstration).

    • @kaiserxion
      @kaiserxion Месяц назад

      @@TheLastHonestInfluencer That's weird. It looks like it has a second hose coupling. You sure that ring doesn't twist off? This all probably sounds condescending but I promise I'm trying not to sound that way. Although, even if it's not built with a hose coupling it looks like you could at least Jerry rig one on. I buy broken portable ACs and fix them in my spare time. If I can't fix them I melt them down. Getting less popular brands or brands outside of your country is also a no go. It's just that much harder to get parts when you need them.

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  Месяц назад +1

      I returned it. You’re absolutely right you need a dual hose. This one only came with one hose. So even if that thing twisted off, I’d have to buy another hose the right size. @@TheLastHonestInfluencerIt basically evaporates the water.
      Not all ac will have the same method of how it moves the water around but the most common I've seen is a motorized paddle that it uses to throw the water onto the hot heatsinks of the motor which are mostly cooled by air.
      The reason why you can pour water in the cold air exhaust is because the cooled metal plates are right in there and as air passes through them, they will make frost on them from the water in the air and then melt and drip down.
      This water is then channeled to the back when it gets sprayed or pumped in a way so that the hot metal plates can vaporize it and vent it to the outside

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  11 месяцев назад +1

      @@TheLastHonestInfluencer I was scared to remove the housing at first until my brother tried on our older portable one just to find out that it's actually recommended to be done once every few years.
      It's recommended to do so in order to clean out the dust which can impede on the performance.
      Took me a while to understand the mechanics but it's pretty simple actually.
      With weaker 6000-8000 btu units you need to have the water be drained while it's working because since the motor doesn't perform strongly enough, the hot plates won't get hot enough to basically vaporize all the water and thus they end up with an excess amount of water that end up being like a hot tub.
      When its overfilled with water, only the top layer of the pooled up water can dissipate the heat and this results in a higher heat retention and lower rate of cooling for the motor.
      I've only ever seen the ones that have like a water wheel with paddles that flings up the cold water that dripped off of the cool plates from the cool side.
      I've heard that commercial ones have a pump that circulates water on the metal plates.
      I've once seen how they cooled a freezer warehouse in india and they had an outside pool setup with paddles that flung water outside onto some very large heatsinks and it was pretty amazing to see.
      One reason why its important to clean the dust inside is because your ac might perform less or start leaking water if the water spreader is clogged up from chunks of wet dust XD
      I had always wondered why sometimes you'd hear water sloshing around when turning on a unit. Turns out it all makes sense now that residual water would start to move haha

      It cooled my room from 77 to 61 in like an hour as well :) sleeping good this summer .

    Question!! I have the black one...but this unit is a nightmare to clean!! I'm afraid to take it apart. He seems to be well sealed. how to clean from within. I have seen a spray cleaner but I am afraid of damaging it. How would you recommend cleaning it inside?… it sucks!! please look at the photo.

      Good to know! Had to sell mine end of last summer so I didn’t have to clean it. Looking for a replacement, I have a new white Danby 3 in 1 and it’s not nearly as good (newest model of this black one). This new white one does have massive removable plastic grilles for cleaning though…

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  2 месяца назад

      @landonsage55 the new one has a cheap thin non-insulated exhaust, it’s quite a bit louder but exactly the same size. At least it was on sale for $419 (so $100 less than the old model).

      Seems to be at least! Been checking the drains, haven’t had anything come out yet. That said it hasn’t been very hot here yet and so it hasn’t had to run all day and night for a week like last summer. I’ll have to pour a pitcher of water down its opening for the review again and see 🤔😉

      @@TheLastHonestInfluencer We have the Midea it's exactly the same. Midea makes about 80% of all a/c units for different companies that just put their name on them.

      We have the Midea one without the heater. The only negative is the house is only 3 feet long, So we put ours on top of a box because the bottom of our bedroom window is around 4 feet and as he mentioned in the video the clips are fragile and break easily so we use duct tape that also seals it up. It is very quiet and can easily cool a large bedroom, We were using an 8000 BTU window unit before but the Midea has way more cooling power so ours turns on high but switches to low almost right away so our bedroom is actually too small for the cooling capacity. It is the best portable a/c we have ever owned.

    Iv'e got the Tosot 12k BTU model and it sucks ass, not anywhere near the advertised BTU's. Barley strong enough to cool off a small bathroom.

      @@-awr-ampa brutal. I had a Star Wars looking tosot a few years back (before this channel) and it didn’t work great for me either, good to know it wasn’t just mine.
      Thanks for your comment and for letting people know! Hope you can get a good one that works. I wouldn’t buy a tosot again (which is why I haven’t reviewed one).
