Truely. The only issue i've faced is the clips being super fragile when taking on and off once or twice a year. Absolute stupidity how fragile danby makes the clips. I'm aware there are replacements that you can order from the site, but its quite expensive after adding in shipping costs. I feel like some parts are non replaceable. The unit also collects dust relatively quickly. If I don't clean the filter often, the fan will feel weak, and the ac will kick on and off constantly, and the thermostat in the unit will go haywire (sometimes reading an internal temp of 10 degrees celsius, when in the room its realistically 20-25 degrees, there fore shutting off, then turning back on when the thermostat isn't frozen)
Do you think you can do a video tutorial on how to disassemble the case off the Danby 14,000 dual inverter portable Air Conditioner? To be able to clean the unit properly and not just the filters. That would be most appreciated. Thank you!
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer please update if you can find a way to remove the case. I removed all the external screws and still unable to get access the internal parts to do a thorough cleaning
Question about a water leak on the right side, facing the unit. I am using the top drain with a hose into a container t drain. This is connected all of the time while running.
Sounds like something inside isn’t connected properly or is broken if it’s leaking out of the unit and you have the drain open with a hose connected. Unfortunately I would recommend returning it if this is the case
well, I like in a place that has dry climate, not generally alot of humidity. I have a danby like yours and I have a hose extending from the top drain into a pail for just in case. mine seems to drain after it is turned off, mostly, and the most I was getting was 1/8 of a pail maybe, a small bedroom garbage pail. Last night, it must've drained all night because the pail was FULL to the BRIM today. I was shocked beyond belief. It went gangbusters. Not sure why but this thing DOES drain! holy cow.
For sure, and that will help keep your unit running continuously by draining it. If the drain had the plug in, your unit would have run a dehumidification purge cycle and blown that water out the exhaust as Vapor, but the compressor shuts down somewhat while it’s happening so it’s not ideal.
Question... I currently have a single-hose unit (yes, i know the dual-hose benefits, but i commented on another video of yours why that is a difficult option for me). Anyway, i was told to drain the unit of water once or twice a week. I was doing that for the first couple weeks. Not much water would come out,t. I decided to try attaching a hose, and just letting the water gravity drain into a bucket. Doing that, i'm getting about 2 gallons of water per 24 hours out of the machine. Soooo...what's going on here? When the drain is closed, it doesn't seem to carry much water. But when i attach the hose, i get so much more. With 2 gallons per day, i know the unit can't be filled with 14 gallons at the end of a week. Is the water getting put out into the air when the drain is closed? Very confused. Thanks!
Great question! This is because all the new units have a purge cycle that will purge condensate out of the exhaust of the unit out to the outside. The downside is that your unit shut down its condenser of evaporator during the purge cycle, so it’s not cooling as effectively as when you have the drain attached. Hope that makes sense if you want further clarification, let me know!
Isn't it necessary for the ac to drain water? I have a gabage portable ac right now, and that thing fills a bucket every night. When i buy this one, are you saying I don't need the bucket anymore?
That’s exactly right! The new ones do come equipped with drains, but I have never taken the plugs out of them. these new portable air conditioners have a purge cycle and they push the excess condensate out The exhaust as water vapour now. if you live in a crazy humid place, I think that’s why they still have the drain because if you’re right beside the ocean or a swamp in Florida, there’s probably so much condensate that it would be continuously trying to purge it. I’ve been using these for a lot of years and mine used to fill up with a bucket every single night too. But the Danby and even the LG 2024 models no drain necessary!
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Just didnt use the adapter piece that allows the hose to be horizontal, instead the hose vertically fits right into the board hole, hope its okay
In hindsight not really. The orientation might place slightly less pressure on the plastic clips…mine all broke. They may have either way though. I think the main advantage would be dependant on if you have a small window or not. But with one the size of mine it matters little.
@@oregonjohnson brutal! I didn’t even bother I just used duct tape. It’s not the ‘optimal’ solution to use tape tho, looks horrible and cheap. Seems many have this broken clip issue. Thank you for your report
You don’t, it has a sensor in the condensation tank that will shut down the compressor and run an evaporative purge cycle to get rid of the water once the reservoir is full. Since you live near the ocean, I would recommend installing the drain as when the purge cycle is running it shuts down the compressor so you don’t get optimal cooling. Using the hose, your compressor run continuously as the condensate purge cycle will never get activated. Hope that helps!
Are you running it on the highest setting all day in a super humid environment? If so, I'm not terribly surprised, though I've run my ac all day for days straight, and haven't even pulled the drain plugs out yet.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Hey man, guess I suck at converting cm to inches! My window is about 75 inches but it looks pretty similar to yours... You think is there any way to makes it work somehow?!
@alt_423 for sure you can make it work man, it just ain’t pretty ha ha! I had a larger frame than this at my last place, I bought a plastic container tote from the dollar store and used a hack saw to cut the lid to the size I needed to make an extra panel. Duct taped it all together. Looked ghetto but worked great. Was desperate to stay cool, place was so hot. I think you can buy actual extra panels at Home Depot for $40-$50, but they’re just plastic. But they look better. Hope that helps man!
I don’t have an accurate way to measure the outlet air temperature but my watch thermometer indicates the room is at the setpoint of the a/c. Not very scientific but
Absolutely. You are right. Even before the clips broke the seal wasn't great. Anyone using it like that long term will want to duct tape it regardless.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer -- I'm also using a unit on a sliding door. I'm wondering...since the hose is naturally facing upward, and you have it pulled way down to the bottom on your door frame, is it possible the clips broke due to stress on the hose from that angle? Maybe if you had flipped the bottom spacer piece upside down, so the hose is higher up, and sits in a more natural position, maybe that would have prevented stress and clips breaking.
There are pretty sizeable gaps in the area where the hose clips onto the window plate. Realistically it makes little difference in temps, but if you live in a pretty hot area, its prob best to seal the gaps with tape.

Good question! Mine doesn’t have it so I looked it up. Apparently it just makes the fan blow on the highest setting and on some models puts the evaporator/condenser into 100% full mode. Try using the app. Works great once setup. Can set schedules, google home / alexa integration, switch temp, fan speed, direction of airflow, and switch between cooling, dehumidifier, fan only, and auto. Also sleep mode, tho I've personally never used the sleep mode.
Great question! Start by unscrewing the top drain cap and pull out the plug. If anything comes out then do the same with the bottom. It’s advertised as drain free though so nothing should.
You’re right of course. With these models leave it on lowest setting the sensors then keep the variable drive motor on the compressor at 100% this way you can run the fan on low, best cooling least use of electricity. The fan motors on these chew up power.
