I wanna be clear on something because there seems to be a lot of confusion 90% of the people that buy these are annoyed because it says it doesn’t cool the whole house but no conditioner ever made was made to cool down a whole house that’s not what it’s for if you want something like that u need to buy central air conditioner
I bought one just to help out my central AC unit because where I live the summers are mostly 98 Degrees and my landlord is too cheap to buy a better Central AC system. So on a hot day if I don't have anything to help out the AC unit it would literally just run constantly. And my utility bill jumps $100 on those months.
This was the best review I've seen of anything. Side by side video, less than 5 minutes, straight to the point. Thank you friend.
This video is really helpful in showing what is involved with P/ACs and 'how to'. My home's old central air has just bit the dust; don't want to pay thousands to replace it for the few really hot weeks in southern Ontario so this may just be the answer.
Your video was exactly what I was looking for and straight to the point. Thank you!
I am thinking this would fit into our small popup camper perfectly. The idea it only requires a small opening for the exaust is what makes me think it would work great. Mabe even replacing the original furnace. I have a hard time wanting to replace my furnace but know that those small units can really work great. My daughter had one for college and eventually gave it to us. We sold it after installing a windo A/c unit. It can be moved too, thats always a plus.
Thank you, bro. After that heat wave we all needed this video lol
I'll have mine up and running today!
I do not know who did the Filming and Editing (dual screens) but this is the BEST tutorial I have ever seen... and with the Voice Over... WOW
Getting 3 different things at once...
Fantastic Video... "Bravo" ...
I found this very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to make this video, I really appreciate it
Thank you for taking your time to do this video and explain the set up. Very much appreciated and definitely helpful!
I couldn’t figure out how to do the window thing and this is the only video I have found that explains step by step how to install that part. Thank you, its a big help!
Hey did you have much trouble installing after watching? Does it work well? I'm thinking about getting one in my room. Lmk thanks!
@@1hinita yes it works really well. I definitely recommend getting it. It was pretty easy to install and I am in no way “handy” lol
Great video. The explanation of window kit installation is great, much better than everywhere else, including manufacturer's video.
I bought the same model and just installed it today before a new heatwave and I'm so glad to have your video as reference! Thank you!!!
How does it work bro is it good?
NipTheBarber works great for me!!!!
What is the size of your room and its 1 ton or 0. 75ton
Thinking about getting one of these can never have enough cold air in this Texas Summer Heat! Great Video!
Thank you for the tips as well as the review. The foam tips in partiicular were very helpful. As well as stuffing foam in window gaps trick.
Thank you for this review. I have a small condo, renovations and I need something to cool the place at night.
Thinking of actually using this in my travel trailer. Great video and tutorial.
This Portable AC helps me a lot in my space, saving my energies, time and effot. I know there are compromises especially the electric bills since this is not an inverter, but surely does its job for me. Hope they make an inverter version one day.
That was so satisfying by putting the sticky adhesive on and fitting it perfectly in the window.
I also found this very helpful. Straight forward. Thank you!
I just purchased the 10,000 BTU unit and I am very pleased so far. I have it in my bedroom. I would say almost immediately I felt a difference in my room, but it took about a hour or so before my room was cold 🥶. I had the temperature set on 71. I saw many videos before purchasing the unit. I didn't come across your video until afterwards. I must say it was very detailed 👌. I will consider the larger unit for my garage. I almost forgot the unit is very quiet so it won't interfere with your sleep 😴.
Thank you .i was considering 10,000
Thank you! Very helpful clear and quick! Good video!
Thank you for having what appears to be the only legit review on youtube.
I drove 50 miles north to go to a home depot that said they had the basic toshiba 8k BTU portable AC, to find out they didnt have any, and no home depot in all of california had an AC unit (cant blame them for not keeping it in stock) And decided to bite the bullet and wait a week for this unit to ship from amazon. I got the 10k BTU model and I'm aware of the downsides of a portable unit vs a window unit, but due to my windows I can't install a window unit for my situation, but it only needs to cool and dry the air of a 90 square foot room so I'm hopeful the negative pressure won't be too much of an issue, or the noise for that matter.
It's pretty nice, isn't it? I really appreciate mine and think it works well! I just wish I could get the hose off the back without losing skin on my hands!
How’s it working
@@Tysport11 still got the unit, I made a custom dowel rod to jam my horizontally sliding window into the fixture that the hose attaches to, it's pretty snug and I installed the foam on both sides so it compresses and makes a seal well. my house is also pretty old so I got some silicon tape and flap tape to cover my window and door way, and just seal off the room as much as a I can so it's super insulated.
that being said, this unit continues to impress me how well it cools my small little room. with the hose running as short as it can be, and with the room sealed, it maintains a very cool and non humid environment for a few hours after word of running the unit for say 1 hour. performance wise I'd say it's the same as when I got it and I run the compressor alot. I just made sure to empty it and clean the filters before storing and it's held up much longer than I anticipated for the price. I was expecting to have to try and get my money back from the warranty a year after I bought it but it's just been good reliable on command cooling. I'd recommend it.
I wish I had watched your video before installing mine. I put the tape on the bottom window pane, found your video and did the rest of the tape around the edges like you did it. The only issue I have with this is that the window vent part doesn't always stay set in the window or sealed all the time. Sometimes one end tips forward or shows daylight.
Wow , you're review is perfect. Ty. Mine will arrive soon and now I know I can install it myself. Thank you thank you !!
Window units better
your welcome
@@CrazyChicken_ in my opinion I think they're more efficient but some people like those portable ones
This was SO helpful. Thanks so much!
Holy shit, thank you! I'm a visual learner, so this really helps :)
Thank you for this video! Black & Decker's instructions were sadly lacking when it came to the window slide kit. We appreciated the suggestion to apply the adhesive foam tape to the slide plate assembly rather than to our window sash. That stuff is nasty and it was much easier working with it away from the window. In the winter months when we most likely will remove the slide plate there won't be any tape residue to interfere with the window's operation. You made our project so much easier!
Does the tape come inside the box or do you have to buy it separately?
@@sarasherry5586 The foam tape was included with the unit.
@@jennifersims9152 Wonderful, thank you so much😊
Yeah those instructions suck
@@jennifersims9152 does the portable ac keep the room really cold
I found this video while trying to find how to take OFF the venting hose, but it was definitely informative! Still searching though
Just got this air conditioner…. Watched your video was I was installing. Thank bud- real helpful!
Does it blow cold air?
I'm stuck in an airstream trailer pouring sweat. I look like I'm standing in the shower litterely.
@@angelashook7112 yes, it absolutely does… I live on the top floor (3rd) apartment and it was 88 degrees over the weekend both outside and inside my apartment on Saturday. Turned the AC on and within 45 mins it was down to 74 degrees (which is the temp I set it on, it definitely can get lower). The room I am cooling is actually closer to 600 square feet too. It’s definitely worth every penny. If you have any other questions just let me know.
@@MynameisMikeee hey, do you think this would cool down the bedroom if set up in the living room of an apartment with the doors open!? I already bought mine but saw some reviews saying it wouldn't even cool down a 200 sq foot room!
That is the best product use video I’ve ever seen!
I don't know about anyone else, but mine came with these 6 metal screws that you can use to keep those window slides together instead of that janky plastic screw. Way better. Also this thing is indeed heavy and quite loud. But I have mine in my living room so the noise doesn't bother me and it still cools my bedroom.
Nice video.
I just read a Forbes article about the best portable Air Conditioning units, and the B&D 10,000 BTU unit was the best for small rooms. I see yours is 40% larger, but I was curious about the whole window exhaust aspect, and now I can see how it would be taken care of. I appreciate your use of the foam and tape, keeping it flush, and showing the adjustable width.
I bought a house in Indiana last fall, so this is the first summer I've experienced, and the A/C is a 30-year old non-functioning unit. I don't have the money for a new AC now, so this looks like it'd be a fantastic option in the meantime for the bedroom.
Thanks for the review and demonstration!
Daaaamn thanks bro you helped me out so much appreciate you mane!!!
The smaller section is a slide to go between the 3 larger pieces that’s why you had the slight offset other wise great review!
I just bought one yesterday and I'm awaiting the arrival. I really hope it works as advertised
How was it?
@@prabhjeetsingh5162 it's good! I'm about to use it again for this Spring. So so far it's good, I'm gonna see how it goes this second time around
@Jay Lakhani still works 💪
Awesome review, I’ve had mines for over a year and it’s been working great. I only wish the remote was backlit.
do you have to put water in?
@@johnwoodard2459no
Ours used to be awesome but now it seems to full with water and the fan makes a splashing noise. It doesn’t seem to self evaporate like it used to. Maybe it’s freezing up?🤷🏻♂️ once you let it sit it will drain the water but fills up very fast.
Beautiful! Thank you!
Thanks Dude for getting my hook up spot on! Me against the Seattle blast furnace, I'm ready!
keep the cap on its suppose to stay on
Same here!
Nice review. Apparently the fan speed adjustments are not functional until the set temperature is reached. Once the temp is reached you can lower the fan speed.
yes thank you very much I just got one and I’m surprised they were in stock last week it was 116 I’m in portland hello Seattle
I found another video where is the installation instructions there a little more detail then I follow them and I like it a lot I’m not sure about draining it though any tips on that would be awesome
What is the watt outage use? I could use this to connect to my solar generator. Also my nephew is buying a makeshift van RV type. He is planning to work while moving around US. This might be good for him on the move.
Thank you for this!!!
Thanks for this!
Thanks for sharing. Gave me a option other than spending 8K on a new unit.
Thanks very helpful!
Instructions say to use the top drain hole for dehumidifying, so what's the difference between using the bottom one and the top one?
Great review !
Thank you very much !
They work. my father in law had one, great for when you don't have big windows.
Great review 👏
Thank you!
Nice review
The plastic exhaust hoses REALLY heat up and radiate heat back into the room. I found a sleeve that goes over the exhaust hose and blocks pretty much all of the radiating heat. It's called a COOL AIDE and is available online. I wouldn't do without one!!
Can you share the link pls :)
@@jrhm6755 available at planetaides.com
@@jrhm6755 Wouldn't even consider not having mine. REALLY eliminates considerable heat from the exhaust hose!!
I just got a Whirlpool brand portable air conditioner. Not to sound dumb but do you need to have it running out of your window? I was hoping to replace the window unit we have at work. Our office is in a pretty secluded area and I worry about security.
We were thinking about putting this in our large 9x13 tent. We camp a lot in Florida but during the summertime it's gets a bit hot. Our tent has vent flaps at the bottom I was thinking about buying a flange or fitting w magnets to we don't have to cut into to mesh of the vent. Is exhaust wouldn't be hot enough to melt the tent material would it? How loud is it in a real world situation. Thanks!!
I got the 12,000 BTU unit. I think it’s very strange that the window kit plastic is kind of pink color.
GREAT REVIEW!!!!
You have got to hook up the hose to the exterior to pull in the air
If you live in the Southwest is a lot better than using a cooler in certain month of the year
I have this same model does this have a heater as well now that its winter
I have an old unit (13 yrs) that just died. I put the humidity hose thru the exhaust hose to drain outside therefore eliminating the drip pan on my floor
I hope it does not matter if the window vent is below the unit.
As the unit is usually at floor level, the window vent is usually above.
Does it cool the room well? Not just right in front of the unit
Hello can i use a bucket to collect the water instead of having to put the hose outside the window
The water helps your unit work for efficient people think that they're supposed to drain it you're not, now unless it's specifically says that you have to drain it but like the one I have it lets me know when it's time to drain it if I do need to drain it and it works because it runs over your condenser coils cooling the incoming air does helping your unit work more efficient
I know i had didnt have the cap on the back and the unit was always producing a lot of water after i left it on it has been worry free
@@Kyle-rp9fi I guess it depends on the unit though the one I had what I watched on RUclips the water helps to make it work more efficient it cools the incoming air
Good stuff bro
Insulate (lag) the hose, it's a heat radiator into the room.
I've owned this unit for a year now, and it no longer blows cold air. A regular window unit works far better.
Thanks. Which site this can be buy.
Great vid
So do you have to put water in it like them water fans or does it make water through humidity
We are trying to use ours for heat, but it is not heating up the room. Any suggestions on what we can do?
I've had both and I really prefer a window unit. Uses way less energy and work as good if not better in my opinion. But im sure mileage will vary. I live in ky where its really humid and hot in summer
How do I use the dehumidifier feature? I used it with the drainage tube installed and nothing happened the room was still humid
What if you’re windows are higher up and sliding window? Does the hose stretch far enough?
do you always have to put a bowl for water drain ? only this brand ac needs water drain or all others portable ac ?
Good job boys
Hello! What kind of foam did you use to seal the window or block the draft at around 2:26 in the video? Also, does this keep bugs out? I have a window right by a tree. Thank you!
The seal comes with the ac lol
I have a unit just like that but my compressor is not cutting off it just keep running is that ok or i need to take it back
Does it use a standard Alternating current plug?
Does it come with a hose,, or you have to buy your own?
May be a dumb question...what is the aluminum tray for?
If I spread the window cover large enough to fit snuggly in my window, then how do I take it off and put it back on? Cuz my window seals have a lip only a shorter item can go in and out. This thing is not spring loaded to be squeezed in and let go of to expand back to the size of my window:(
Help! When I increase the temperature by a couple of degrees the compressor shuts off, like I would expect. But then it continues blowing 'warm' air! How it I get it to stop, without powering it down completely???
Does the heat work good?
Well I got the same one and were is the cold air?
Surprisingly, my 8000 btu window ac works way better and cools my room much quicker than my 12000 btu portable ac unit at half the cost.
Is 8000 btu good enough for a room that is 10x10x8?
@@rockeruss555 Oh yeah with plenty to spare!
@@rockeruss555 10x10x8 same as my room. 8000 or 6000 work well. I had a 8000 until it quit one day. Found a dirt cheap 6000 AC and been using it since.
Hi, does the adhesive foam strip come with everything in the box or do you buy this separate? Thanks in advance!
It came in the box
Cam you run it with the horse connected..??
Can you put the drain hose outside through the window?
Does it keep the current settings if it loses power and then comes back on?
How do we REMOVE the exhaust hose from the back of the unit? Any hacks?
How do you use the dehumidifier??
When you are using this in the cool setting do you just leave the condensation drain cap on, no need to use the tube?
We leave the cap on all the time and have never needed the tube. The warm air exhaust seems to evaporate the condensation directly. Made us very nervous at first to cap the condensate drain outlet. We expected water all over the floor since quite a bit of water runs out if you're using the tube instead. Since we capped the condensate drain port like the instructions suggest, we've had no problems.
@@livefree6878 I kinda wonder about water drainage I learned something new
Question is does it cool off your entire room, given that it is 1400 btu built in?
Yes it does. If your room door is closed its like a ice berg
most important info missing, how long it took to cool the room.
When I bought mine. Set it up and turned it on, after an hour I was cold enough to turn it off and go to bed. (Had it on 64F with the fan on low)
@@bimmons9975 what size room do you have it in?
To be honest it's good for maybe 2 rooms pretty cool here in maryland
Will it cool a 2 car garage? I need it for the summer while I workout in there
No. It actually ends up heating up one of my bedrooms instead of cooling it. Just get the mini split or window unit
Good
No one is mentioning whether you are required when new to have to fill the water tank. Can anyone advice?
How cold is that sir? 50F??
I'm concerned about security. Do you recommend something for keeping the window from being opened?
A piece of wood. Like a stick
A gun works very efficiently.
