Mike Patrick and Joe Theisman on the call for this game on ESPN in the 1992 season. They had some cool ass intros on ESPN Sunday night Football back in the 90's. Dolphins were hot next to the Bills .
I'm just amazed seeing Peter Carroll (as defensive coordinator for Jets) competing against Dan Marino in his prime. The guy has had such a long and amazing career.
And what's even more interesting that people here are talking about Pete Carroll against Dan Marino and Carroll now being the oldest HC in the league, is Dan Marino and Pete Carroll actually share the same birthday - September 15th.
The 1992 Dolphins defense finished the season ranked # 10 for the year. One of the FEW seasons Marino actually had a good defense to help him and it showed. The Dolphins were 2nd seed in the playoffs and actually had a bye week and hosted the AFC Championship Game.
I have been rewatching a lot of these old Dolphins gms and DAMN was Bryan Cox good,a lot better then given credit for,I remember him being good But so many gms I've watched and hes been incredible!!
Yup. But what a lot of people don't know or remember is that afterwards Carroll was man enough to go into the Fins' locker room and apologize personally to Stoyo. That took guts and humility. You'd never see anyone doing something so childish and stupid take ownership of their behavior like that in today's world.
Pete Stoyanovich after his missed FG prompted Pete Carroll's "choke" sign: "Well, I guess that will be my most remembered missed FG" Leon Lett a year later: "Hold my beer"
Coach dick macpherson is the last pats coach to ever lose 12 games in a single season. New england has had only 3 coaches since mac. He was fired 30 years ago
Thank goodness for a solid defense as well...and Sportscreme, of course! Weird that this Dolphins offense didn't quite click a lot of times, but the talent was there (without any talent, there isn't that chance).
What nobody talks about because of the ending is that the Jets really blew this by having to settle for a FG up 14-7 and inside the 5 with less than half a quarter left. A delay of game on first and goal in that situation is unacceptable, and from that point on the play calling was horrendous.
Looking at the score updates at about 28:15 and it's pretty clear that they actually played DEFENSE in the 90's!!and they didn't have so many things against their D's,NOW if u breathe breathe a little too hard throw the FLAG!!their killin this gm by taking so much away from the DEFENSES and making sure the OFFENSES can light it up!!so thats why theres no special offenses today cuz they all have so much already working in their favor, same goes for all these young or even not so young QB'S Who've got to have all this protection where a QB can't be hit high, can't be hit low, anything past a second after release is roughing the QB and thats a huge 15 yrd call!!pretty bad when u have refs telling ENDS and LBR'S to ease up on BRADY,stay off him!?!?!?that is what has started killing this league,dk WTF Brady or maybe BB or most likely KRAFT might know but I'VE been watching the NFL since Marino's 1st full season 84 and just can't believe this shit goes on today!!when that happened the players and coaches around the league should have really opened up about the state of the gm!?!?To me when a guy like Mahomes comes into the league and destroys the record books I'm just not that impressed considering that D'S are totally handcuffed these days, they've literally taken DEFENSE right out of the game of football, its sad to see,cuz I miss watching the teams battle at the line without so many restrictions!!
In the early '90s leaguewide scoring hit its lowest point since the infamous '77 season, to the point where SI even did a cover story wondering what was wrong with offenses. Three seasons in a row a team set a record for fewest points in a 16-game season. First it was the Pats in '90, then the Colts broke it, then the Seahawks broke it again!
@@DolFan316 Yeah, I reread that article last year; I didn't think the scoring was a problem until that 1993 season, and there were definitely big problems (the 49ers scoring a robust 473 points is, to me, worth placing in a historical context, and a testament in how amazing their offense was. Dallas & Denver had strong offenses, but after them there weren't many others, and the ones that were had flaws (Oilers-sluggish, Bills-slow, Dolphins-no Marino...).
Browning Nagle was ASS. I remember seeing Bruce Coslet's exasperation on the 1992 Road to the Super Bowl film and he wasn't just terrible, he was cocky and arrogant with no reason to be. Jesus.
it be better if they allowed intentional grounding than calling a defensive rusher for roughing the qb as they have in 2010s and 2020s . I mean a potential sacker slows down five yards after qb throws and just touches qb with a hand to slow down roughing the passer b.s. . a lot of these qb's today milk it, delayed reaction play acting like they got hit by a ghost truck
Thank you to the person who posted these games on RUclips. I appreciate it very much.👍
LMFAO 😂😂😂these throwback commercials bring back memories!
MUCH better than the ads of today sadly.

Carroll is actually the NFL's oldest coach now. Yes, even older than Belichick by 7 months.
I remember the controversy over the Jets assistant making the "choke" sign--had NO idea for all these years that it was Pete Carroll.
And what's even more interesting that people here are talking about Pete Carroll against Dan Marino and Carroll now being the oldest HC in the league, is Dan Marino and Pete Carroll actually share the same birthday -

One of the few times were Marino got some help from the defense

Aha, Pete ur JETS choked... #PhinsUp🐬

Browning Nagle given the job ahead of Kenny O'Brien. Genius....
Before watching I believe this is the Pete Carroll choke sign game

Look at the pitiful Patriots at 2-13. Way before Belichick and Brady.
Don't worry, I hear that Bill Parcells and Drew Bledsoe would take over the next year.
Coach dick macpherson is the last pats coach to ever lose 12 games in a single season. New england has had only 3 coaches since mac. He was fired 30 years ago
I remember watching this game and said to myself, it would suck if Pete Missed the PAT.. And he did. I cursed myself for thinking that.
Dan Marino was clutch in this game! Wasn't great most of the game, but was great when he had to!
Thank goodness for a solid defense as well...and Sportscreme, of course! Weird that this Dolphins offense didn't quite click a lot of times, but the talent was there (without any talent, there isn't that chance).
I've always taken football too seriously. I resented that choke sign for 20 years.

Marco Coleman was kicking the Jets LT's a*s!
1:56:32 Dan needs to call Freddy Biletnikoff , order several containers of stickum, express delivery
Wait a minute. Didn’t anybody notice that was Data (Brent Spiner) on the commercial? Pete Carroll was a joke as DC
Browning Nagle was ASS. I remember seeing Bruce Coslet's exasperation on the 1992 Road to the Super Bowl film and he wasn't just terrible, he was cocky and arrogant with no reason to be. Jesus.
You just never shut-up. Actually kinda funny being that you don't know much.
Brian Nagle? Mike Patrick says it multiple times.
2:25:17. Pete Carroll’s second worst stupidest thing he ever did. Not giving the ball to Marshawn is #1.

who is here in 2024
2:36:00
That was pass interference!!!!!!!
Jets were and are such chokers. Stupid play calling and boneheaded mistakes.
Sloppy first half.
