I just realized that this is a snow game taking place between a team from Texas and Florida
🤔
Larry Texas and Florida don’t rlly snow
Some parts of TX do snow and FL rarely snow unless it's north FL
Ice_wallow_come I remembered my grandparents telling me that it was around 35 degrees in Tampa like a decade ago. It was snowing in Orlando and Jacksonville. It was a freak winter storm
haha!
The dolphins need to go back to those jerseys & logo!
Agreed. They were classics. These new ones are an injustice.
@@bballer191 I got a dolphins starter windbreaker from around 96 before they changed their logo again and man I love that jacket so much! When I go out, people be tryna buy it right from off my back lol
With one caveat. Gray facemasks
@@Simeautomatic100 Nah they need to go bacj to the ones from the 2000's. But either way I'll take it. Anything is better than the bland boring uni's they wear today lol.
@@JoeyJordison97 I like the ones from that era too but the ones from the late 80- mid 90s are just classic man. I just like the lighter colors.
Greatest Thanksgiving Day game ever..I miss the “mystique” of what the NFL on NBC used to be!
For Sure.
As a ten year old, I remember my dad screaming at the tv. I hid in my room the rest of that day.
Smart choice!
So many broken hearts in Texas that day.
@@anglobostonian probably so many broken tvs that day too.
Hahaha
I was 10 when this game was on too! Lol! House was divided, mom and older brothers were cowboys, dad and I were dolphins. Been a dolphin fan ever since. 😩
10:22 “ITS LEON LETT NOOO”-Bob trumpy My favorite quote in the nfl thanksgiving games.
I still remember that Quote nearly 30 years later!
Not Leon lett............
@@Simeautomatic100 Ohohohoh myyyy …
Jerry Jones went from happy to confused to nervous to sad in less than 5 minutes
To decrepit old owner coach in less than 2 decades. With the backup qb from this team home improvement boy Jason Garrett his yes man coach coaching the team
I remember this game so very well.. My brother-in-law (big time Cowboy fan) almost threw a chair through the window..lol
That is funny you say that; i was at a friend's house who was a huge Cowboy fan, i am a Fins fan. When the kick was blocked, he was drunk and started laughing at me; then the Leon play happened. When Miami won the game, he picked up a chair and flung it almost hitting me and my wife at the time. We got out of there pretty quick. LOL
so did my brother but instead the chair my brother tony took the damn turkey and threw it to the tv i remember my mother coming from the kitchen and asking what happened my father adjusting his glasses still laughing told her don't you see? the turkey was trying to fly away hahahahahahahhahahahahahaha
@@SuperBoomshack Anothe r Bob Knight, huh? I don't bl- ame you for scramming whe n you did; you may have bee n seriously injured.

A moment of silence for the wasted turkey!
This is the best thanksgiving game of all time and it’s not even close. Two warm weather teams playing a snow game, in a partially domed stadium, on thanksgiving, the coaches are Don Shula vs Jimmy Johnson, and “America’s Team” is the defending champion!
this was indeed
at the time i never knew it snowed in texas
If there’s just a coating of snow in Texas, the whole is shut down. In northern states like Minnesota, it’s no big deal.
And the Cowboys lost! Best Thanksgiving game ever indeed.
@@QuiltHoncho
Of course I know that!
Marino wouldve won the super bowl this year had he not ruptured his achilles, he was that great!
The last loss Jimmy Johnson would ever have as a Dallas Cowboy, and the last win of the Dolphins 1993 season.
mrmajikjr cowboys won the Super Bowl that year right?
@@efthymiosanagnostos7427 Yes
Dolphins did the same thing to the jets in 94 with the fake spike, except the dolphins didn’t win the super bowl
Stealing info from the video doesn't make you smarter it makes you a fraud. No credit to you.
The Dolphins went to 9-2 and would lose their final 5 and miss the playoffs at 9-7. 1st game of 1994, Dan Marino would throw for 5 TDs vs Bledsoe's 4 and win. The go ahead on a 4th and 5.
13:00 - That's Doug Pederson clearing the spot for the ball... not the last time we'd see some trickery from Doug in a big game #PhillySpecial
Not the last time against a hated dynasty, either.
Also at 2:45 - That's Troy Vincent breaking up that would-be touchdown pass... not the last time he'd contribute to a big defensive play on the road in Texas Stadium.
As a Dolphins fan and watching this game live when I was 15 years old, it still stands as my favorite Miami win. Dolphins fans don't get to enjoy playoff wins, or division titles, so when crazy stuff like this happens, it's great for us. Shame that the last time I was this excited about a win was almost 30 years ago, but that's what it's like being a Miami fan.
Not even close to the best dolphins game, the best games were with Marino behind the helm. And had he not ruptured his achilles that year, Marino wouldve won the super bowl, he was that great!
Is this still your favorite win, or is the 70-20 win?
@@prim16 That '93 game still stands out as my favorite.
What about the Fake Spike game? I feel like that game is more famous in NFL lore than this one is.
NOT ANYMORE MY MAN! 2023
Even though Lett had two of the biggest bone headed plays in NFL history he was a really solid defensive player.
He really was amazing, considering he only had 2 brain cells
@@BeachBumZero Ouch!!! 😆
Lett was a genuinely top-class player. But it's hard to understand what he was doing here. 3 Cowboys are waving their hands, saying "Leave it". And Lett runs 15 yards and tries to cover the ball. And the close-ups of him in the aftermath are so funny! He's looking around, thinking: "what did I do wrong?"
Lett was an excellent Defensive player. We all make mistakes, but it hurts bad when it costs the team. I know this one haunts him.. Cowboys still went on to win another SB so…. Oh well
What a "Lett" Down lol
Nice!
Best quote i’ve seen all day.
😂😂😂😂😂
Thankfully, the Cowboys went on to win the Super Bowl later in the post season.
perfect...
One of the most memorable games on thanksgiving! Spent the entire day with my loving family! Great memories of my mom who passed away in recent years! She was a very special person! And very loving! Her cooking was amazing! She’s missed! My dad is still with us. Thank goodness! I love my family more than anything! Thanks for all the great memories! Happy Thanksgiving 2022 everyone 🦃 ❤
Ed Hochuli could turn a simple false start penalty into a graphic novel.
Hochuli's son is now also a referee. Not good for skins fans.
Not only did Leon Lett drop the game winning pick he also touched the ball after the kick was blocked 💀💀💀
He was talented but one of the dumbest players in history
the dolphins somehow win games miraculously and their opposing opponent wins the super bowl at the end of the season. this one and the 2018 patriots lol
The dolphins were ALOT better back then than in 2018 or this year
mm 223 lmfao
I went to this game, I still have my ticket stub! I bought my bid Cowboy Apex coat, I still have it! They still won the super bowl this year!
Old Dolphins Helmets > New Dolphins Helmets
There is no way Steve DeBerg was only 39 because I’m pretty sure he was originally Drafted by the Portsmouth Spartans.
EvilBrainFormOuterspace I think it was the Rock Island Independents
Agent 86 or was it the Staten Island Stapletons :)
He was a backup for George Blanda. 😁
In reality he was drafted by the Cowboys in 1977 in the 10th round, then waived in training camp. He could not beat out fellow rookie Glen Carano.
I remember watching this in 1993 in Philadelphia I was 11 years old laughing when Dallas lost the way they did.
"The kicking team then recovered the ball"
"NO WE DIDN'T", 11:45. LMAO!
*They
@@Tyrone181.... Sounds like, "NO WE DIDN'T", but I thought I heard, "They" instead of, "We".
I remember watching this game live and how strange it was to see these two teams play in these conditions. As a Cowboys fan, I wasn't thrilled with the outcome. Totally forgot Steve DeBerg was the QB for Miami in this game.
And the great Don Shula.
Doug Peterson with the hold...2nd biggest win in his career...we know the biggest!
The Eagles are a one and done team the won their Super Bowl and then fade into obscurity. Like Buccaneers in 02, The Ravens then they beat SF
@@Mario-cv5el stop hating. It's bad for your health.
Watching that game made us late to dinner at my aunt's house. My mom was so mad that she left without my dad and I. Well worth the ugly looks for a great ending. We were smiling the whole way there!! Good memories for me as they are both gone, but not forgotten. Love them both!!
Seeing Jerry Jones deflated like that was worth EVERY SECOND.
Steve DeBerg was a really underrated QB back in the day
He used to do a great job on play action by holding the ball down by his hip.
Didn’t he back up Steve young in Tampa ?
DeBerg had two stints in Tampa...the one you mentioned in the mid ‘80s when Young was there, then he returned to Tampa in 1992.
Seemed like he played till he was 55
@@athenastarbrite2955 he backed up joe montana in sf, john elway in Denver and steve young in Tampa bay all 3 hof..
American thanksgiving isn't a holiday in Canada and i had to fake sick to stay home this day... actually i faked sick ever American thanksgiving in high school.... no one ever seemed to noticed i missed the same day every year.
That's funny...
After the game Leon Lett cried in the Locker room and JJ said ...as long as I am Coach Leon will remain Cowboy 🤠
That would be a lot more heartwarming if Jimmy Johnson wasn't out the door four months later.
And he stayed with the Cowboys until 2000
Kept Leon Lett, fired the kicker
Just remember that the Dolphins lost the remaining of their games while the Cowboys won all t of theirs and the Super Bowl. Leon redeemed himself with a strip of Thurman Thomas and it was ran back for a touchdown. So really this loss was a blessing in disguise for the Cowboys.
It really did work as a wake up call. They were gloating so much coming in to this, and this fixed that.

*The cowboys would win 8 straight and the superbowl*
Which made it that much sweeter for a typically disappointing Dolphin season.
And only won one more and then haven't been sh t since. And don't talk about this year yet because Dallas just lost to the Saints who are without Drew Brees
@@mm-gl7sz They've probably won more super bowls than your team so...

No big thang! Dallas wouldn't lose another game that year and were SB Champs. On the contrary, Miami at 9-2 LOST the rest of their games and finished 9-7 and missed the playoffs in one of the biggest collapses in NFL history.
Yeah but what have either of them done in a long time? Patriots own the league until Brady and Belichick retire, and I hate the Patriots. They would have owned it back then too.
@@mm-gl7sz Belichick was defensive coordinator under Parcells, he did not have the wisdom and experience he has now so no your "what if" is almost impossible.
Epic! Coach pederson was hustling to clear a path. A constant professional. No wonder he brought us our first super bowl championship. Philly Love's Doug! Fly eagles Fly! This was great! Congratulations Miami dolphins roster from this game
He was signed and released by the Dolphins 4 times in 3 years
Also at 2:45 the Dolphin defender breaking up that would-be touchdown pass is Troy Vincent, the same person who along with James Willis would be responsible for the Eagles' legendary 104-yard interception return for a touchdown three years later in this very stadium.
Good thing the cowboys won the super bowl that year or else Leon Lett would’ve been known as more of a failure than he already is
nobody who makes it to the NFL is a failure.
i dont know what the hell you talking about LL wasnt no where near a failure.
FAILURE??????? GTFO!
Leon Lett was a great player. 3x Super Bowl Champion and 2x a Pro Bowler.
Leon Lett was a pro bowler. What are you talking about? This actually ended up being a blessing in disguise for him because even before this he was already a really good defensive lineman but people didnt know him because linemen usually dont get a lot of attention. After this blunder people started paying more attention to him and then slowly started to realize he was actually a very good player.
Doug Pederson holder. Keith Byers hands. Troy Vincent blanket cover. Eagles still hates Dallas.
My favorite thanksgiving game thanks for the memories
I remember watching this at my grandma’s house. My aunt and uncle had left early to go to the game. We blamed it on them for leaving the family on Thanksgiving.
Imagine if there was social media in that day! Leon wouldn't have heard or seen the end of it!
The only Leon Lett highlights that are ever shown are this one. and the fumble in the Super Bowl. He went to the Pro Bowl twice, so he must have made some great plays, but we'll never see them.
Not jinxing my Cowboys this Sunday against the Dolphins, NOPE! 🙅🏾♂️, lol.
Nice throwback video. Remember it like it was yesterday.
HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS!!!
LMAO the Dolphins are gonna go 0-16 so need to worry there.
Lot of former Eagles on that Dolphins team.
And their current coach
I think you putting up stats during the game is a great idea. Keep it up. I just subscribed....

*Hochuli* _the kicking team then recovered the ball..._

I believe that was said by Michael Irvin who during the kick was on the sideline hugging Troy Aikman and didn’t even see the play.

@Jerry Junior yeah but now you've lost to the Drew Breesless Saints and looked bad doing it. Dallas will be one and done in the playoffs this year again if they even get in. Tell Jones to stop thinking he's coach(what drove Johnson away)get rid of Garrett, and get a real coach. With the talent you guys have you should have won at least one Super Bowl this decade. Would have been nice to have done it against the Cheatriots too. And I'm not even a Dallas fan.
When it was football. Play in any condition. Rain or shine.
1:00 that hit on kirby was vicious. If that happened today it would be a massive fine.
I never knew Doug Pederson was involved on this, gotta love this channel.
Watch Jerry Jones' reaction turn from glee to concern at 9:48.
Miami wouldn’t win another game and Dallas wouldn’t lose another game that season.
I think I like Emberg and Trumpy as much as Summerall and Madden.
I enjoyed Enberg & Trumpy calling games.

11:35 - Classic Ed Hochuli right there.

Crazy game. After it the Dolphins were 9-2 and the Cowboys were 7-4. The Dolphins wouldn't win another game, miss the playoffs, and the Cowboys wouldn't lose another game, including the Super Bowl.
“Letdown Lett” 😕 Sickening loss 🤮
Let it BE!!! LOL, Yeah go Cowboys!
Leon Lett is such a kind gentleman, bit of a bonehead on the field a couple times will only be remembered for those bonehead mistakes.

Looking at the hard hits and forced turnovers, God, it had to be hell going against that 1990s Dallas defense.
I mean, it had to be hell going against that offense.
Do Super Bowl 32 next with Broncos got their first dub against the champs Packers( Inspired by Ash Ketchum from Pokemon first league dub and which is a classic referring the SB matchup). Also do the following
1999 AFC Conference Game Titans vs Jaguars
2010 NFC wildcard Seahawks vs Saints aka Beastquake
2007 NFC wildcard future champs and Brady weakness Giants vs Buccaneers
2013 snow game Eagles vs Lions
1987 NFC Divisional Round Redskins vs Bears aka Walter Peyton last game
Any Patriots vs Jets game
Super Bowl 10 Raiders vs Vikings
And Browns last Sunday Night Game appearance
I like the Pokemon reference you made after damn near 20 yrs crazy ash didn't age he got that win like how JE took almost 10 years to win his first SB after being blown out 3x in the late 80s
Please don’t do Super Bowl 32. I still can’t live down the pain.
Super Bowl 32 is already posted as a complete game by the NFL.
Super Bowl 10 was Steelers & Cowboys
Super Bowl 11 was Raiders & Vikings
I totally forgot DeBerg was on the Dolphins In 93
I was there. My boss and I drove all night from S. Florida to Dallas. And it WAS cold! The win by the 'Fins made Thanksgiving dinner at my mom's home (she live near Texas Stadium) a little sweeter!
I remember watching this during Thanksgiving at my grandparent’s home when I was 12 years old and how crazy it was with snow falling, that Marino was out injured, but even more Leon Lett’s infamous play😁
This briefly appears in the Paul Newman film ‘Nobody’s Fool’.
My memory is hearing the sleet, running out to my car to cover my windshield , then driving a couple of miles to our family Thanksgiving Dinner. Fortunately it was a straight and flat road. I believe Steve DeBerg played for every team and then some
Not quite to the extent of a Ryan Fitzpatrick or a Josh McCown, but DeBerg definitely got around.
Drafted by the Cowboys during the Staubach era, then went on to play for the 49ers, Broncos, Buccaneers, Chiefs, Buccaneers again, and the Dolphins. Then after being retired for four years, he re-emerged with the Falcons.
I love seeing that huge grin slowly disappear from Jerry Jones's face, as if he's thinking, "Wait. What just happened?"
Leon Lett would’ve been the scapegoat had it not been for the fact that his team won back-to-back Super Bowl Titles
This is one of those moments that were horrible at the time, but becomes something you can look back and have a good laugh.

It’s Leon Lett!!! Noooo!!!
An Epic Call To A Crazy Finish 😮💨
In an ironic twist, after the Miami win, the Dolphins lost all of their remaining games, & after Dallas lost, they went on to win all their games including Superbowl 28
The zebra Ed before he was all pumped up
I remember this one. It ended in a laughter.
This was the last game the Dolphins would win that season, finished 9-7 missed the playoffs.
Oddly enough, after this game the Cowboys didn't lose again en route to winning the Super Bowl, and the Dolphins didn't win again, becoming the only 9-2 team to miss the playoffs
Good lord the broadcasts were unwatchable back then. All close ups as if we want to see the quarterbacks eyes, not football game.
Another wild Thanksgiving game ending that you can find here on RUclips was the 1980 game between the Lions and Bears. On third and goal with 6 seconds left, Quarterback Vince Evans, who couldn't find an open receiver, scrambled into the end zone to tie the game as the clock expired (following the extra point) at 17-17. Dave Williams then returned the overtime kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown to give the Bears a 23-17 win.
This game was the last loss of the Cowboys ‘93 season as well as Jimmy Johnson’s last loss as Cowboys HC. But this was the Dolphin’s last win of the ‘93 season losing their next five games. So Miami ended up winning this battle, but Dallas ended up winning the war that season.
Yes. Leon Lett. Poor guy. I remember watching this game on Thanksgiving '93 at my mom's house.
As a huge Cowboys fan, I was shocked & disappointed when this happened.
But it's all good, because we went on to win the Superbowl that year! :)
As a kid it always seemed weird seeing Keith Byars and Keith Jackson in Dolphin uniforms
To this day I loathe Norman Braden for trading those two away along with Reggie White. 🦅🦅🦅
busy day for Keith Byars, the play Kirby had a knee down and was ruled a fumble was not included. Last game the Dolphins would win this season, started 9-2 and missed the playoffs. The refs got it right in that the kicking team can only advance the ball if it was blocked behind the line of scrimmage, this one was blocked at/past the line of scrimmage so they get the ball where they recovered it.
Aftermath of this game:
Dallas won out the rest of the way and won the Super Bowl
Miami lost the rest of the way and missed the playoffs
Leon lett. A cowboys legend for the wrong reasons
Samuel Gilbreth he got two rings
goldeneve That’s three rings (SB XXVII, XXVIII, and XXX).
Love the video, but there's no need for the 16:9 zoom(and subsequent reduction in picture area), when the original footage was 4:3.
And now I know who Steve Deberg is.
Great game ... Then jerseys
Undisputed brought me here
Watching Jerry Jones @9:46 is priceless.
93 was Marino's year to get back damn shame he got hurt just came off the AFC Championship loss in 92
Leon Lett was such a good player- but is only remembered for his consistently boneheaded plays. Meanwhile, the Dolphins lost EVERY GAME from there (from 9-2 to 9-7) and MISSED the playoffs and the COWBOYS WON THE SUPERBOWL. And, typical for the loser Dolphins- they had the same pattern in 2017 after the so called "Miracle in Miami" where they beat the Pats on the last miracle play-- they lost the rest of their games that year too and missed the playoffs again and the PATS WON THE SUPERBOWL. Then, they beat the Raiders on a miracle play in 2020 to set up a win and in playoff scenario and again LOST and Missed the playoffs. EVERY Miracle play by the Dolphins to win winds up in LOSSES for the rest of the season - EVERY time.
Was this game in 93? I think I remember this game..
Does the two NFL teams, the Miami Dolphins (which they belong in the AFC East Division) and the Dallas Cowboys (which they belong in the NFC East Division) have Southern roots? Did they play on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1993 where it was snowing? But, where were the Southern-style chicken and the Southern-style biscuits?
I gotta say that it was a joy watching stuff back then. Nowadays the screen is just full of hashtags and channel logos and advertising. And even though it's still 60 minutes of playing time, the tv schedule was lengthened to 3:15 just to add more advertising. That was not good. And it was played in a stadium that had a real name, not a corporate naming rights john's name (as it currently has). Yep, those were the days. Of course, it's not just football. Every sport has become an advertising platform and players are now walking/running/jumping billboards like the race car drivers and soccer players.
Remember this game very well as a Dolphins fan :)
Fun Useless Fact: O.J. Simpson and Nicole were at this game.
Yeah and his kids were bombing him with sleet balls as he tried to comment on the game!
Watching this 30 years later at 42 years old, and I was still hoping he'd miss the kick.
