    Thanks for answer! Love you!
I will add Tip #4 for how to find whistle register:
    1. Try to talk on inhale
    2. Try to make some noices on inhale (at beginning it will sounds like you have spear in your neck, so dont show it to others, becouse they can call ambulance)
    3. Find high pitch on inhale
    4. Lock the position with high note on inhale and try to do it with exhale

I don't know why, but your statement "Rhythm can also be taught...if you have a heartbeat." caught me off-guard as absolutely hilarious! Possibly because I'm pretty sure you didn't mean "If you aren't dead, you can learn rhythm", but that's how it caught me. Not being a singer, half of the video went over my head, but I enjoy hearing you so much that it's not a hurdle to enjoying your videos.

I love the calm, “fireside chat” tone to the Q&A (being near an actual fireplace helped). I’d like to see more, as its informative and has you answering questions others asked. Very cool you took the time to answer them. Going in-depth and showing physical (real) picture of the voice instead of just a drawing or diagram was unique. I liked that (I also liked a certain D8 whistle you slipped in there). XD
I wanted to add, about Li Yugang, I have a song that may be of high interest to you (I mentioned another one, but this is intriguing). “Drunken Concubine” is Li’s song, and he sings both parts.
He did a music video for it-which not only shows off his vocals, but the story presented in the MV is wonderful (I love it). There are two versions of the MV, but this link has the story. If you are able, please react or listen. You can even see Li in full costume. I just really would love to hear an analysis of him. :)

The Charismatic Voice yes! I saw some views filter in! I didn’t think I’d get mentioned or that you’d be interested in all the info I provided. I’m also glad you enjoyed. It took a long time to research, so knowing at least someone read it is awesome (I believe most tend to just glaze over.....) I felt like I was back in high school again, researching for an essay. Like that research paper for my senior year or my anthropology class.... XD
Your reaction was amazing! You are the only person I know (so far) who has explicitly stated they knew about Chinese/Peking opera, and had been to China for a while. Your insight into what Li Yugang was doing was amazing, as you added in information about his opera style too, not just what he was doing in general. Very appreciated. Thank you!
I love you took time for both singers, since I see people often gravitate heavily towards Dimash. Which isn’t bad, but in duets I’d rather see equality. Usually Dimash has high class singers with him, which is also amazing fir someone whose only 4 years out (from the start if his career, as in Singer). ;D
Well, I look forward to more reactions.

Over 20 years ago my friend convinced me to try karaoke. My 1st song was Teddy Bear by Elvis, the audience was enthusiastic (instead of just polite) and I was hooked. Over the next few years I did many songs, had requests to do songs, had people dance while I sung, helped some from being embarrassed and had a great time. I learned that although I found I had a wide range nobody can sing everything (well) but everyone can sing something. My friend generally wasn't all that good in my opinion but could always nail Some Kind of Wonderful. So have fun, find what you like and can sing and cut loose!

I saw an interview with the lead singer of Canadian rockband Metric where she told about using her being tone deaf work by using creative songwriting and practicing hard to control her tone and trust her tone. I love the song "All yours" from them, because she crossed a lot of former limits on her "handicap"

I really like the anatomy / scientific side of your explanations - thank you! I'm not sure if this is where you ask questions, but going into the same vein on anatomy, would you be able to show some subtle differences one what's happening in your throat in correct singing? I've heard many vocal teachers say to find the proper vocal position for singing, you need to 'yawn', lower the larynx, and raise the soft palate but it looks different when you actually sing, as opposed to just doing these exercises. Can you do an in-depth comparison on how the back of your throat looks - like when you're looking in a mirror - when you firstly just 'yawn', then when you 'raise your soft palate' and when you actually sing a note with proper palate raising. I find when I yawn, my tongue sort of raises upwards and it's all tense, but when I raise the soft palate, my tongue lowers. For me, they're all so different yet teachers lump them all together as one. If you can address this in your next video, would be great! It's rare to see videos go down to the nitty-gritty on voice anatomy. Thank you!!

    • @TheCharismaticVoice
      @TheCharismaticVoice  4 года назад +3

I LOVE THIS QUESTION. You really get into some of the anatomical details, and I’d love to talk about it more. !!! Thank you.

    • @diabolical07
      @diabolical07 4 года назад +2

@@TheCharismaticVoice Thanks for your reply! Just to add another point - I know that everyone's physique is different so how proper vocal technique looks for one singer may be different for someone else, even if they do the same thing. But having said that, some students such as myself react better to visual stimuli in addition to everything else being suggested, especially those who don't get it on the first couple of attempts on just feeling it, will ultimately have to find another way to get it right. I think voice teachers should always try include a visual anatomical 'look-and-try-to-copy-me' approach when explaining technique (but not only that of course!). So I'm very curious as to how anatomically vocal technique looks with someone as well-trained as yourself. You seem like someone who isn't embarrassed to show the back of your throat which some people would find icky (not us singers though!) to talk nuances and technicalities and just nerd it out :) Looking forward to an informative series of videos!

Hi Elizabeth, Thank You for this informative Q&A session. I was really surprised to hear singers, "getting scoped," w/ a wire camera on a regular basis. Absolutely! I struggled with allergies negatively impacting my voice for years. They even started to cause vocal nodules at one point, so we had to keep a close eye on them. Happily, I was in the hands of top specialists and an amazing voice teacher, and they helped me through it. I learned what allergy medicines work best for singers, and I also had some immunotherapy to reduce my allergies long-term. I now very rarely feel affected vocally by allergies. :-D

  • @-R.Gray-

Maybe you could go into the differences in terminology between opera singer/vocal coaches and more pop singer/vocal coaches when it comes to terms like falsetto. Many Dimash fans watch all of the reactions to him, so there are a variety terms used. Where many say that the F# 5 near the beginning of "S.O.S." is head voice, some with classical training call it falsetto. Others say that falsetto is when a lot of air is passing through the folds, rather than it being a higher register than head voice, or whether or not it is being sung by a male instead of a female. There was one person who had a different name for the area above the head voice, and below a whistle. Also some call the E6 in "S.O.S." a whistle note, while others say it is just a high head voice.

    • @TheCharismaticVoice

ABSOLUTELY! This is one of the topics I want to deep-dive into. I think there is a lot of misinformation out there, and terminology is sometimes used differently as well. Thank you for articulating this questions more thoroughly. I will talk about it in a video soon.

Elizabeth, I have just subscribed to your Chanel following some of your amazing reactions. As a Soprano yourself, could you please find time to react on one of Amira Willighagen’s performances, most of which are performed with a full orchestra & sold out auditoriums. Her development since winning Holland’s Got Talent at the age of nine is exceptional & I firmly believe she will be ( if not already) one of the worlds greatest Soprano’s. One particular performance was singing “ The Flower Duet” at the age of thirteen, ( she turned 16 in February this year) & in this performance she illustrates what a magnificent Soprano singer she is. Should you browse uTube, there is a huge selection of her performances. You obviously love music, so should you get a spare moment, check out this absolutely magnificent Soprano. Many thanks in anticipation, Graeme.

The Charismatic Voice Thank you for your reply and your interest in reacting to Amira Willighagen. Not sure whether you wish to know her background but bear with me & I’ll explain just a little. When she won Holland’s Got Talent at the age of nine singing O Mio Babbino Caro she had not had a single singing lesson. Amira was self taught watching the likes of Pavarotti.
In the semi-final, Ave Maria was her choice of song ( which is a difficult song for anyone to sing.) & it still amazes me that one so young can have such a range without any apparent straining of her vocal chords & her voice control is astounding. Then there’s the vibrato which for her age was well controlled. She has since had weekly lessons and should you watch her performing a medley from Sound of Music, it is obvious by her impeccable pronunciation & her rich resonance that her future is assured. Anyway, , I think I’ve pumped her tyres up enough; & I’ll be intrigued as to what your thoughts are regarding this young lady.
Thanks again for your reply , Graeme

Dear Elizabeth, I am very happy with this format, curious hoping to develop with you since I feel a little stuck in my process a while. Love your work ❣️
    2 Questions:
    1. I have practised overtone chanting a while, which helped a lot to explore my voice... But somehow I am a bit infected, coz I quite often give some additional overtones to my singing which is joyful, but sounds a little weird as if I am loosing natural expression... What do you think? Does intended use of overtones help to train you voice or does it also or even more block its development? Which use would you recommend?
    2. How does mother language affect the kind of singing, maybe even dialect?
I am german, raised in Hamburg and Schleswig Holstein(northern Germany), which are known for Plattdeutsch dialect with is kinda soft and Bariton (jo ne, vertell Mol), now I live since 20 years close to Frankfurt in Hessen(mid-south Germany) and the hessisch dialect has maybe more a throught and head voice (example: Guten Tag is Ei Gude, Kaffe is Käff - sche)
I have the feeling since I speak more english or sing in different languages like brasilian portuguese, aramäic, indianic dialect or sanskrit, my voice got more flexible, not sure about it🙈🙉. What do you think? Are there counterspells, for an Indian maybe arabic, or a Chinese french? 😁😎

I think I am mostly tone deaf if not totally. My friends would always say my guitar was out of tune. In tune, each string to the other . But off as in either higher or lower then it was supposed to be. It always sounded right to me, as in sounded like I was hearing in the music I played to. I also don't have much range at all in my voice. And I don't like the tone of voice that I mostly sing fairly well in. It's too low for me ( as was my dads, lol. ) I think from wearing braces for 5+ years. That essentially changed the entire shape of my mouth. Also negatively effected my ability to sing well. But being tone deaf was most of the problem. Why I gave up trying to play all together :(

:-) true story: I’m almost always cold. Even when it’s 76 degrees inside (our daytime regulated temperature during the summer), I wear a sweatshirt.

Thank you. I was invited to *NOT* sing with the church choir. Yeah, that bad. However, I have an amazing vocal range according to the people with whom I work and communicate with primarily by radio. Granted, not an expert amongst them. But I do a a pretty mean Christopher Walken, Bill Clinton and a few others not quite as well. So maybe there is hope.

I just came across a video that provided a different anatomical description of Whistle Register than yours. The guy in the video said that Whistle Register doesn't vibrate the chords at all, but that it is just a turbulence of air that comes through vocal chords that are stretched very tight. He compared it to whistling with our lips. Is that incorrect?

Elizabeth, I have to say, after listening to some of your singing, I'm amazed! You have an absolutely AMAZING voice, and I can honestly say, having heard your talking first, I was shocked and floored at the notes you hit in you opera. 😁
I have two questions. One is about something I know I need to work on with my singing and could use some advise. The other question has to do with assessing my singing.
    Question 1:
What advise would you give to help moderate breathing when singing?
(I can hold long notes usually. For example the 17 second note in the song "Leavin'" by Paul Brandt, but I have difficulty with controlling my breathing on fast paced songs.)
    Question 2:
If I were to upload some of my videos to RUclips, or sent you the links to the ones on my Facebook, would you be willing to do an evaluation on some of them for me? (Doesn't have to be like a reaction video, as all of my videos at the moment are of me singing karaoke anyway. I have written my own song lyrics, (over 30 actually), but I only play guitar and I'm not very good at it yet, so I haven't been able to put the instrumentation to my own to be able to record them.)
I'm trying to get an honest, objective, professional opinion on my singing abilities. My parents are recording gospel artists, but because they're my parents, they would have a biased opinion about it. (All my singing abilities were self taught, before my mother married my step-dad and started their band, and I was also born tone deaf. So I had to work 10x harder to train myself to hear and feel the differences in the tone and pitch. So that's why I'm asking this.)
Thank you in advance for your time and any advise you happen to give. 😊
