    Hi Jason,
    Nice fix. I also use this liquid capacitor paste all the time. 1000% no re-hot needed. However I’m struggling with the amount of paste to use. How do you know when you have the right capacitance? Do you have a chart perhaps on how big the blob should be? And can you also layer it to have a higher voltage capacitor?
    Love your work :) greetings from the Netherlands

    Hello Jason. Greatings from Germany. Very interesting Chanel👌🏼
    Why does the replacement of the Cap withe UV-Mask work?
    I‘d like to understand why there is no need to replace the cap with another one.

    • @OnYourSquare
      @OnYourSquare 2 года назад

      It depends on the caps function. Most caps are used to store charge. They help to reduce voltage fluctuation. A line may call for 1.8 volts. The supply is outputting 1.8030 volts. The caps are also storing a charge bring the line voltage to 1.8033.
      imperceptible

    • @ritterrita3754
      @ritterrita3754 2 года назад

      @@OnYourSquare Incorrect. Caps will not increase line voltage. Following the logic in your answer, if I use 10 000 caps in the circuit, my 1.8V power line will reach 4.8V.
      Ceramic caps are mainly used to provide a short path to ground for high frequency noise. They are placed right next to integrated circuits, because those are the most sensitive to this kind of noise.
      High frequency noise may come from the power supply providing energy to the device , it may also come from surrounding components doing digital operations, picked up by other components like coils or traces, or it could even originate from the outside world.
      When you remove a failed cap, noise level will inrease. In most cases your device will continue to operate. With enough caps removed you reach the tolerance level of the IC an it will start behaving erratically, giving unpredictable results.

    • @OnYourSquare
      @OnYourSquare 2 года назад

      @@ritterrita3754 (lol) What? The output voltage will be higher than the input voltage.
      Capacitors are tiny batteries. 1 AA battery is 1.5V. If we add 2 batteries, the line voltage is 3.0V. Add three? 4.5V. Unless you've somehow broken Moore's law.
      Once the capacitors are charged, your line voltage will be higher than your initial output voltage.
      This isn't rockets science.

    • @ritterrita3754
      @ritterrita3754 2 года назад

      @@OnYourSquare
      1. The capacitor charges up to the input voltage, not higher, it is not a boost converter.
      2. Moore's law is about semiconductors, not capacitors. Do your capacitors double their capacitance every 2 years?
      Check link for Moore's law: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moore%27s_law
      3. You don't even understand the difference between parallel an series capacitors. Or batteries for that matter.

    • @OnYourSquare
      @OnYourSquare 2 года назад

      @@ritterrita3754 1. Power filtering capacitors bleed their voltage into the line, when the voltage drops.
      2. During the voltage drop, the cap discharges its voltage into the line!
      The output voltage is now higher than the input voltage. This isn't complicated (lol).

  • @vonnikon
    @vonnikon 2 года назад +2

    I am actually a bit disappointed that you did not properly replace the capacitor, like you normally do.
    I find it unprofessional that so many repair shops removes capacitors and calls it "repaired".
    Sure, it will probably work fine in 99% of the cases. But that last 1% customer might get sporadic crashes. Capacitors are there for a reason, believe it or not.
    Honestly, soldering in a new capacitor is faster than the UV hardening.

    • @davidknightaudio934
      @davidknightaudio934 2 года назад

      Yep that's for sure you will have random problems or slowly destroy components due to noise and unfiltered spikes from switching components on the lines missing the caps not good work. When I see a blown cap I replace it and I don't go back with the same if its a little 4 v smd il swap in a 10v for higher breakdown capability if it's a shit quality cap il put in a good one if it's the wrong type of package or capacitor type il adjust it to what I feel should be doing the job. One thing to realise is that the small smd caps that are used come with many many problems and also there are alot of diferent types that fail in diferent ways but you really need to know your capacitor science to go there lol

    Why do people send you repairs and then be economical with the truth of the phone's history, even I would have noticed the Phillips head screw etc. Does it not worry you that it was sent to you from a repair shop, who could have quite easily caused all that damage? Then they’ll probably take the credit for the work you’ve done. I don’t know about America but anyone can open a repair shop here in the U.K., it’s time for people to be licensed.
