I love the fact that you are self effacing and just easy going, making fun of yourself all the time. Some repair techs I watch on here could use their heads as Goodyear blimps thinking that they are all that and a pinch of salt. Thank you for being just a normal (well kinda normal, as normal folks don't subject themselves willingly to the Apple companies plan for non repairable electronics) everyday "dang did you see what I just did" kinda guy! Thanks for the videos and the time it takes to make them!
Hey I also have one of those that was never near any water and didn't have any falls. It had a Vdd_Main short and my dumbass accidentally gave it 5V from a 10A power supply straight to the board... It let out a poof of smoke before I pulled the cable. Do you know what component is likely to burn first?
No problem every time I get those notifications I always click right away and I can’t wait to see you do some live streams that would be awesome keep up the awesome work
Great video as usual. I really like the tone, the clear explanations. As instructive as it is entertaining. I have a (naive) question though: by what physical or chemical process can a cap short circuit because of water damage? I mean, I can easily imagine how impure water can cause all kind of short circuits between traces, between connector pins and such. But inside a cap? I don't get it. They're sealed components aren't they? An electrolytic cap can short due to an internal chemical degradation process, I get it too. But here? and how is that processed triggered by liquid ingress?
Great work done really appreciate your hard work❤️ Dear Mr Jason I have iPhone 7 which is dead and no one is able to fix it here in my country kindly let me know if I can send the device to you for fixing since I have very important data in the device thanks
Hey, i love your videos. i have a odd question. i was interested in if say the bmp180 barometer, do that get damaged in any way in the sonic cleaner? i have boards that i would like to throw in the ultrasonic, but i am worried about damaging the baro
You left out the most interesting part: was this phone repaired? To me it seemed that it has a real chance that just putting everything back to the customer's case, the phone will work flawlessly.
Thank u kind sir. It took a little longer than what's in the video but I made an effort to shorten this one up a bit. Still hyperventilating a bit as people find nasty stuff I left behind! Ahhh, youtube. :-)
Hello, can you answer my question on the iPhone 7 Plus when calling and receiving the call? I cannot hear the caller or he hears me and if I use the ear the ear do not work except the Bluetooth speaker so what is the fault is the board or the microphone thank you dear 😊
Those are the symptoms of classic Audio IC failure. Part of the chip has come loose from the board. It's a fairly straightforward repair. Remove the if. Run a wire to connect the missing paid to the IC. Then reinstall the chip. Problem fixed.
They are located here on Windows 10: %appdata%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup you can paste that in the address bar of windows explorer or click through, c:\users\[your username]\appdata oaming\apple computer\mobilesync\backup Hopefully this helps
Tomorrow :-) I found some website that will legitimately pick a random "need this" commenter. There have been a few that commented a bunch of times though. Perhaps this random picker website will weed them out!
Are u still in business i have the same issue with my iPhone 7 and no one’s able to preform such a task and i lost all my pics and videos of my new born 3 years ago she’s 3 now but i was only able to get all pic backed up 🙏🏽
oh man, this can be tricky if there are no markings and no missing/nc pads. If you have a board view, you may be able to figure out which pads are ground & then use that to determine how it's orientation is on the board.
What software are you using to parse their data? Great video btw, you missed some corrision, but I bet the customer got their data back. Also, the PCB holder link is down. 404
Hi I saw you video about iPhone repair my iPhone X won’t turn on.i put in charge went for bath came back the iPhone was in charging I open amazon app try to buy something just click in buy then suddenly the phone turn off and not turn on what is the reason ?
Those caps don't stand up too well to sea water and urine. LOL Thanks......Cause ya just don't know when ya might drop your phone in a bucket of urine. Perhaps a urinal at the bar.
i really don't like the way u repair stuff. first of all removing capacitor like that u can rip off pads. second of all putting so big current to damaged board can do more bad. board is looking good and the client can have normally functioning phone
Removing that cap with heat would have been more stressful to the board due to it being lead free solder. I do that to keep the board temp low. If the pads get torn (which they never do on these caps), it would not make a bit of difference. Removing that cap with heat however, will lower over-all success rate. It's all to beat the odds. Edit: and 3a of current never hurt any board on vdd main. Maybe a bit hard on the mosfet but it's not near enough to hurt the board.
@@ststele I still disagree. There are special soldering tips like tweezers that u can use. also u can add a bit of Your own Pb tin, it will mix and effectively it will lower down the melting temperature and u can easily unsolder it.
@@matikaczka I agree with you there. In situations where I need to be extra careful & must de-solder something, that's how I do it (dilute with leaded or even low-melt first). I have FM-2023 tweezers but hardly ever use them.
Why take the risk on a high dollar repair? Popping off the capacitor is orders of magnitude safer than using heat. Professionals understand. It's the people who want or are attempting to learning that will knit-pick the meaningless details.

Thanks! You too. :)
Nice easy one! hope I get one of those anytime soon... here in Arg it's full on summer, so many drowned ones
Awesome job Jason, as always!
Thanks =) I'm hoping for a few more easy ones right away but it's not very likely.

Where did you get the board files for flexbv
www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=80466
I think these are the same files I have (if not, more up-to-date than mine)
You didn't look at the bottom board! What is that at 19:16 - looks funky.
Ewww, yep. Missed that spot. I glanced across the bottom board but didn't see that.
@@ststele It did work I suppose, which is the main thing.
hi jason, could you link the pcb tool separator for iphone x , nice work and goog trick with the screw lol
What software or method do you use to parse customers data to make it easily readable in folders? LIKED n subscribed
You left out the most interesting part: was this phone repaired? To me it seemed that it has a real chance that just putting everything back to the customer's case, the phone will work flawlessly.
Good result, enjoyable content, glad you can put food on the table!
What software do you use to separate the backup?
I use syncios, 3utools and itunes mostly.
Nicely done Dr jason :-D
That pcb just lined up spot on, i think the patient will live lol.

Good video, btw you should update your amazon links because half of your items on those links are not available any longer!
I suppose that explains the gradual decline in Amazon revenue! I'll put that on my list for this weekend. Thanks :-)
