- I Bought 10 Broken iPhone X's - But Are They Fixable? These 10 very broken iPhones were in a salvage lot I bought for $1,670. There was no way to know if most or all of them were iCloud locked so I didn't buy them to make money - I bought them to get better at repair. For these phones I diagnosed dock issues, replaced screens and back cases, found logic board issues, programed True Tone, and tried to figure out why the touch screen didn't work. Fortunately, even with my limited experience, I was able to fix a couple of them.

About This Video: In this video I'm trying to fix 10 iPhone X's which I don't have much experience with. I've found that's one of the best ways to learn repair though - just to buy some broken stuff and try to figure it out. Some stuff I know I won't be able to fix, like logic board issues and phones that are iCloud locked. But some stuff I can fix, like replacing screens, back cases, and batteries.
Have something broken you want to send me?

Should I make more videos trying to fix broken iPhones? (ALSO: All phones were tested with multiple screens to verify whether the touch function was working or not)
Try flash number 2 which is bootlooping
Sure, also reparing cars :D just jokin, love your videos
Used to work at Europe's largest mobile repair centre and most boot loops just needed a flash
Yes
But yes more phone repair videos in general most are built like Lego and so easy for people to self repair and your videos show genuine disassembly compared to most have pre loosened battery glue etc

Hey thanks! Thanks for watching!
Yer am the same haha
After watching this channel for a few months I decided to get a solder station and some parts. I asked my friends and family for broken stuff. I got an iPad and an iPod Touch. I was able to fix both broken screens, but it was a nightmare. Next up was a Google Pixel 3. Finding the correct parts (nfc mounted on the back glass, screen with digitizer, ect) was a huge pain and eventually I was just digging myself a hole on the project. Apparently modern phones are a nightmare to fix, and I'm not going to try that again.
I'm still waiting for a friend to turn up with a broken console, I've watched enough of your videos that I think I can manage one of those repairs if I can find the parts. Thanks!
I'm still baffled at people that buy a GLASS phone and refuse to put them in a case.
I am one of this people. I love the haptics and i dont want to miss that while holding it in my hands. Ive never had a physically broken phone until this day. Be careful with it, dont give it to other people, dont throw it around, not even on your bed, dont put it in your pants with other stuff. Sure, they all got from time to time signs of wear like little scratches on the frame or the flashlight lense from the camera. But thats all. Never had a broken glass. Sometimes im shocked how someone was able to feck his phone up like some of those in this video. Did they drive over it? Jesus. Ill never understand.
Some of these phones don’t look like a case would protect them from their psychopathic owners.
Did they throw it on the ground and stomp on it?
Cases often make it hard to touch the edge of the screen, but after a broken phone I had to repair, I will suck it up with a case. Too much work replacing the glass.
Glass phones look and feel amazing, and I've had my pixel 3 xl for about two years fully naked and uncracked.
yeah so my phone fell out of my pocket while biking so mabe im just stupid for wearing the wrong pants but i guess mistakes like that just happen
I wonder if he bought this lot from EverythingApplePro
I bet since they're mostly unlocked, yeah
Yeah after his drop tests
Hey man! I’ve done roughly 100+ iPhone repairs and I’d say great start! The one tip I’d have is to twist those battery adhesive strips around your needle noses, a lot easier than pulling. If you twist your needle nose tweezers and keep it as close as possible to the battery, moving closer as more is twisted on the tweezers, you’ll get them almost every time
That screen with the green line was broken when you tried it in the beginning. So those two you used the screen with the green line might be okay if you tried a different screen.
Yah I no
you're correct Rich. The green line screen had a bad digitizer. Rule of thumb always use brand new screen to test other phones not used that is already faulty, otherwise you'll get a false positive.
Still cant understand how people can damage an expensive item, what did they do to number 7 use it for target practice.
@DC-FC79 no thry obviously did fruit ninja but with the phone
you do realize it's possible for people to make mistakes and accidents can happen as I'm sure the original owners of these phones didn't purposely break them for shits and giggles. Yeesh

Not only me who noticed that ! @TronicsFix
I thought the same thing!
It was on number 10 which he tested with a working screen showing number 10 was the issue but he never shown him using that screen and the touch working with any other device so when he put it on 5 (26:10) that is the first time he shows it on another phone that may or may not have touch meaning he should’ve tested another screen and on top of that he then reused the screen on number 7 (27:23) thinking it was a working screen with touch but that screen was used with 3 devices in the video and all 3 times the touch never worked so my guess would that the screen was bad unless he had tested it off camera
The screen with the green line didn’t have touch
He use it to try the touch from other phones 😂 but that one doesn't have touch
He needs to see this hahahah
Ae Edits deadass noticed that too😂😂

I for real think that your channel is so underrated.. I'm not a technician and I don't even know nothing about it but I love your videos.
You: “I know very little about iPhones”
Reality: You know more than 99% of people that purchase them.
Edit by end of video: Make that 99.999%
Do you like Alice cooper
You know a lot of the time when iPhones are plugged in they don’t always turn on immediately you have to leave them on the charger for a little bit if they’ve been discharged for a while
Tristan N iPhones need at least 5% to boot up but you still would see the battery symbol on the screen when you try to boot it, so the argument doesn't matter in this case.
@@KingdomArtz It does. If the battery is really discharged, it will take time for even the battery symbol to show up. I learned it when I got my brand new X and it didn't show a sign of life for almost a minute.
KingdomArtz that’s true to an extent but if it’s deeply discharged it does not show the battery symbol the moment it’s plugged in
And also my iPhone turns on all the time with 1 or 2 percent
Yeah I'm sure he waited. Trust me this guy knows about iPhones alone which is his weakest link than you know about all electronics put together.
Instead of ripping out the charge port, try using a wireless charger. Will be a whole lot easier 🙂
but to call it "fixed" he still needs to know if the port is ok or not ..so why doing the work twice?
@@purgderren7405 Well if he plugs it in and nothing comes up but he puts it on a wireless charger then you know for certain it's the port. What happens when you spent a good while gutting the phone just to test the port and that wasnt even the issue. Its common sense in phone repair, do the easy diagnosis first lmao
Well if he does that he cant call it fixed
Have you found any dirty pics in these phones lol

Watching the process to fix phones is satisfying. Essentially when it works out in the end.
You got alot of patience man. I know the editing shrunk down all the work into interesting parts. I repaired laptops and computers for a while and when i got to phones I just left it alone. Too many pieces and parts to keep track of. Especially those that needed soldering. Even laptops can get a full day's work and still not fixed because of a minor details missed. big kudos!
I'm going to start repairing iPhones as well. I have one broken down already, an 8. But that's crazy how you need to program the trutone screen. I'm so glad you went over that. You're the Man!
Its a one button press type thing. If you intend to do this, be aware that not all screens are compatible with this copying process. If its not the original screen and/or the data was not copied to the replaced screen from a previous repair.. this is all for nothing and you'll encounter it often if you do enough iphone repairs. Thankfully its a cheap enough tool.. its also used to replace vibrator motors on the 7 series forward.
"Going to try with a known good screen" attaches screen that is smashed to pieces, brilliant! :)
