I love that Man-Thing cover too. The large right forearm with those curling fingers and the shape of his left knee is awesome.
You seem to have such a great time getting out and enjoying what you love. Such a nice peaceful alone time early morning relaxation. I need to see what is going on here in Maryland on the weekends.
Classic Claremont is always great. Man-Thing is fantastic. In fact, those 70s genre comics are pretty great to go back and read.
Great finds! I love that store. I agree, the wall is top-notch. Grabbed first McFarlane Hulk comic there from the 25 cent bin. I double-checked with the owner and he said “it’s all yours”.
New England flea markets help support the comic habit. Watching your uploads remind me just how many we have in the area. We have local ComicCon’s but they are overpriced normally. Who needs TV shows when we have your channel to “Stay Tuned” for!😂 Keep them coming Mike!
My favorite day of the week is here! Thanks for the consistent uploads.
Nice haul! I agree about X-men #137. It used to be more highly valued, relative to other books at the time, back in the 80's. It was such an emotional and groundbreaking story when it came out and the fact that it was retconned away, I think, soured people on the book, at least as far as " $ value". I think it's still a great comic, one of my favorites, but it's significance has definitely waned. Impeccable timing on the Man-Thing #1. Really nice prices on both. Quick correction, that is not a Kirby cover on the Avengers #147 but Rich Buckler doing his best Kirby imitation. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the comment and the correction!
X-men #135 seems to do well still.
Hey man, love the channel and content. Show us more hunting! I have loved Man Thing for years, and am loving he’s getting the attention he deserves. I whole-heartedly believe he’s the next Groot and they were “testing the waters” with his appearance in WBN. Keep up the great collecting! 🤘🏻
Good stuff. I love your content. Nice to see another raw book guy.
Just want to say I've been watching for a while now and I am loving your channel. It's just so chill and unassuming. Unlike a majority of channels out there, you have no over the top antics, but instead you just hunt and comment. Thanks for being real, man. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much for the comment! I’m a pretty chill guy, just a dad looking for comic books… couldn’t make it more exciting if I tried lol. I appreciate the support!
Great grabs.
Great video, thanks! I'd say you did great on the X-Men 137 and Man Thing 1. Two great books!
Hi Mike, I'm happy with some flea market footage and some in stores (about 2/3 outdoors and markets, about 1/3 in stores). The "walking music" you use as you make your way between the tables is a nice touch too. What makes your videos stand out though is that you don't run through dozens of comics like many other presenters, you focus on just a few and why they're important enough for you to have bought them. Thanks for not going into the whole "Gambit's first appearance" debate which has been done ad nausuem; I don't really care about first appearances of characters unless the issue is part of a run I'm trying to complete. Man-Thing #1 is a hard comic to find here in Australia, it took me 15 years to finally track one down in decent condition. Here we have nowhere near as many flea markets as in the US and yard sales produce a torn or coverless X-title from a decade ago if you're lucky. You definitely live in a happy place for comics fans!
Thank you for the feedback, it definitely helps! Certainly the flea markets will slow down once the winter hits, but otherwise I like your 2/3, 1/3 idea. I hope I can keep providing good content for those of you in other hemispheres!
Loving the channel, and quite jealous of your flea markets! We have car boot sales here in the UK, but rarely find any decent comics there. Keep up the good work.
Hey John. I have also been enjoying these. Hope you are doing well. I’m heading to Chicago at the end of the month for the weekend hope to see some of our pals.
My vote for more comic book store hunts.
I have always been a fan of Man-Thing. Great series. I go back and forth on who I like more, Man-Thing or Swamp Thing. It is close but I favor DC's Swamp Thing because I like the art more.
Uncanny X-Men 137 is such an amazing book. Great story and art work. That store looks great.
Man-Thing #1 has such a great cover.
Mike as always, you bought a great batch of books. There are so many great venues within a short distance to you. One question, were the white frosted doughnuts Boston crème or cinnamon roll, they looked yummy. 😃👍🐳
Hmmm, I don’t remember, probably cinnamon rolls though
I’ve got to get some more Man-Thing comics, and that first issue looks great!
The debate about gambits appearance is not a debate, his first appearance is 266, it was delayed and that is the only reason why is came out 2 weeks after the annual, people can argue all they want, it was a production delay that’s all.
I agree with you 100%
Nice selection of pickups! Great channel Lunch Money!
Have you ever been to the outer limits in Waltham? It is my local comic shop and the guy has been there for ever. I literally remember my grandfather taking me to that place back in the '80s.
Hmmm, can’t say that I have for sure, but it rings a bell. I’ll check it out next time I’m in the area, thanks!
Cool video.
5:12 I highly recommend you go back for that Longshot limited series, if you don't already have it. Super good mini-series by Ann Nocenti and Art Adams.
Yes! I already own it and it’s one of my favorite series… In fact I ended up getting the whole series at that very same store! Check out my 2000 subscriber giveaway video to hear me talk about it, it sounds like you and I feel the exact same way about it!
@@lunchmoneycomics The Longshot series was one of the ones to get me seriously into collecting (the other being the Excalibur special Mojo Mayhem). Between his character, his story, and the art, it cemented my love for the X-Men.
I love going to Reitta Ranch. I found your channel cause His and Her Comics posted about this video, I love his store and have my pull list there. Looking forward to Western Mass Comic show tomorrow. Have you ever been to That's Entertainment in Worcester?
Yes! I went there years ago and have been meaning to revisit. I work in Worcester every once and awhile so I’ll hit it up next time I’m there. Thanks for the reminder!
Great content!! Nice to see someone local (to me) showcasing some great spots that I've been to. If you are looking for more spots to make content on, I definitely recommend going to Putnam CT (about an hour from Brimfield). They have 2 Antique Co-Op Stores right next to each other loaded with comics from different vendors AND there is a Comic Book Shop right around the corner. You could spend an entire day there!!
That’s all the convincing I need, consider me there!
@ChristopherTreadwell I took your advice and have been there several times! Next week’s video features Putnam and I mention your tip several times. I hope you watch the video and comment so I can give you proper credit!
@@lunchmoneycomics that's awesome!! I'm glad you were able to make it down there and hopefully find some great books out in the wild! Can't wait to see it and appreciate the soon-to-be shout outs!
@@christophertreadwell5815 I wish I had your name at the time I made the video, I couldn’t find the comment until now. It’s not only an awesome place for comics but just a great little town. I brought the family there for lunch one day when we were bored. It’s a place I’ll be going back to for years I think. Thanks again!
That X-Men 137 has been cropped too low at the top. There should be background from the cover image visible above the masthead. I've seen a few like that and they generally sell for a bit less because of it.
Interesting, I’ll take another look
I need to start looking at more yard sales and flea markets in the Baltimore area. Loved the Werewolf by night on Disney+. I've already watched it 3 times where I can barely stomach 1 watching of any She-Hulk episode.
Great vid. My wife is from Greenfield and never told me that store even existed...probably on advice of my bank account. I forsee more visits to my in-laws....yeah. My in-laws.
I’ll be set up at the show Sunday. Come by booth 28 upstairs. If you’re looking for anything let me know I’ll set something aside for you😊 hope to see you then
Lunch money comics, great books but if you are a big Gambit fan then you might wanna try and get Gambit#1 Gold Foil cause it's the more rare book.
Thanks I’m always on the lookout for that one!
@@lunchmoneycomics I got a Gambit#1 Gold CGC 8.5 but I still need to get a X-Men#266.
Great looking books 👍
I like your channel you got a new sub I love you showing western mass greenfield beautiful city my wife she’s from Boston and am from New York I used to live a 1 hour drive from greenfield Worcester now am in New York City every time time I go to mass I don’t want to come back to New York good finds in that shop. What’s the shop name if you can share thanks
Thanks for the comment! The store is His and Hers Comics in Greenfield.
Awesome comics!❤️🇺🇸
I’m jealous of how cheap the amazing Spider-Man were. Honestly. eBay has a 0.5 of the asm 24 for $50 obo
Werewolf by Night was great! Nice to see Marvel do something different from the typical superhero stuff where they constantly have the characters trying to crack bad jokes and make clowns of themselves. Nice pick up on that FIRST app of Gambit. I bet it would grade above 9.0.
Agreed on WBN, and I think the Annual is an easy 9.4 as is.
OK I'm gonna say it!!!! I love Lunch Money Comics!!! HIT THAT LIKE!!!!
did i see that right? a 25.00 price tag on that 2nd print ASM 361?!?!
Yes you saw it right. I took a double take too and even asked the owner. It was in relatively poor condition, thus the low price. Great catch!
Loving it
Those old Avengers were the best, I have 75%of the Volume 1, all issues 66 on, of course #1 is going to be the big buy, hm, someday 😅
A very entertaining vid. You asked us whether or not you got a good defrom your LCS but you forgot to tell us what you paid. I was yelling for you to get the Man-Thing #1. I just found a high grade copy at our flea for $30. I held off buying it also because it is pricey. I believe you now have me wanting that issue of X-Men. 😆
I think I mentioned the prices in the video, I got the X-men for 37, and the Man-Thing for 26. Not incredible deals but I was comfortable at that price. And yes, you gotta have death of Jean Grey in the collection!
@@lunchmoneycomics I would have bought them.
@@lunchmoneycomics you're right I just missed the man-thing price.
@@nighttigercomics7323 oh, and $30 for a high grade Man-Thing 1 is a steal… great job!
@@lunchmoneycomics I got lucky.
Hi from the UK, totally agree regarding Gambit but its only CGC that counts 😂. Manthing is a great looking book love the art but not so much the story in this run
There is no debate: X-Men 266 is the ONLY Gambit comic that matters. Annual was a production delay where Gambit within the comic is already a known entity; 266 is his full and cameo introduction as there was no appearance before it -- on continuity, not print date. Just like Hulk 180, there's been a flood of newbie comic covid kids wanting to "get in the game" of first issues, but couldn't afford Hulk 181 (or 266) so they try and muddy the waters on first appearances.
I agree with you 100%
@@lunchmoneycomics We just became best friends! ;-)
What were the Prices like in the Comic Book Store? You didn't video the Sale Sign? ☢️ Was there any $1 Dollar 💵 Bins?
Prices were fair. The sale sign was on the door in the footage but I think it was 25% off everything under $75, 15% off higher. I didn’t see any $1 boxes but then again I was too wowed by the pretty books on the shelves.
Another great video to fall asleep to. I have trouble sleeping and by 10 minutes I'm asleep so thanks!
What does LCS stand for?
Local Comic Shop/Store
Isn't that first appearance of carnage series, worth like $150 each?! And he's selling it for $25???!!!!!
I did a double take as well. It was actually the 2nd printing, silver cover, looks cool but worth a lot less, was still a good deal though. Good eyes!
Isn't that annual supposed to be poly bagged?
Hmmm, not that I know of, at least not that I’ve seen. I’ll have to look into that.
Next time warned us about spoiler 😢
That’s fair, although I didn’t give away any plot, the mere mention might be enough.. a spoiler alert would’ve been courteous. Apologies.
@@lunchmoneycomics i will watch it Saturday, so I won’t fear on being spoiled 😉
Are u on Facebook?
No (at least not as LMC) but I did finally set up an instagram account: LunchMoneyComicsIG
