I'm a 44 year old carpenter and my mom put marvel legends in my Easter basket this year. The looks I get from my wife and daughters are hilarious. Thanks for sharing.
36 year old mill worker here. We have a ring camera installed right by the mail box, which means I’m never surprised during my shifts at work that I got a brown package. My wife is though. We argue, she gets over it, we spend the money. Life goes on ❤
I don't think I've ever seen a Grit newspaper. They always advertised in comics trying to get kids to deliver the papers so it is neat to actually see one.
I always love seeing Voltron! I live in the St. Louis area, and back around 2015 I worked at a St. Louis Cardinals store in one of my local malls. I had a lady come in requesting a custom St. Louis Cardinals jersey that had “Voltron” with the number 84 on the back…she wanted the biggest jersey we had. I kinda gave her a puzzled look and she said “the actual Voltron is going to wear this”. As it turns out, Voltron was brought to the US by a company based here, and I believe they still hold the US rights to the IP. It always gives me a bit of hometown pride when i see anything Voltron related!
At 00:40, that's one stern-looking family matriarch, I wouldn't try any break-the-ice jokes with her. I'd endure the cold to attend your New England flea markets, here in Sydney we don't have anything like them - ours are all crafts and home-made jams (yummy but how many jars of blackberry jam does a person need in the pantry?). And junk. Steranko's Captain America issues are beautiful and I'm glad Marvel reprinted them in the mid-1980s, which is how I first read them. The SF pulps from the 1930s and 40s have such eye-catching art, so naive and whimsical, it captures our scientific innocence regarding space travel and other worlds. Voltron is also a comic, 3 issues published by Modern in 1985, Dick Ayers art; I imagine that, being an obscure title at the time from an equally obscure independent publisher, they may be hard to find. Another fun and informative video Mike, and as you say, the hobby is immeasurably improved thanks to the great people we can share our love of collecting with.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with a grown man playing with Voltron. It was the same for me as a kid, I couldn't afford the combiner lions. When Netflix brought out the new Voltron show, I had to buy the combiner lions from the toy range. I ended up buying 2 of each. One lot have stayed in their boxes, the other I unpacked straight away so I could finally combine the lions. Best. Day. Ever.
What an amazing couple of flea markets. The only one near me is the one at the meadowlands and it’s only on Saturday. Unfortunately, I cannot go on Saturdays. I would love to just walk the isles of such flea markets, and even if I would not buy anything I would love the nostalgia of it. I hope you have a great summer with your lunch money.
As a 80’s - 90’s kid I have a soft spot for for Voltron. I have the Lego version displayed in my office at home. The die cast figure is awesome and something I would have picked up. Love the TMNT book.
Love, love your channel. Brings back so fond memories of reading comic books in the 60s. I was an avid Archie fan, but I liked most of the comics. Couldn't wait till the new ones came out. I haven't read a comic in 50 years. I still collect comics for my kids ( which are now adults) and I have a small collection of my own. Your channel has sparked my interest. I found a whole box of 70s comics for 30 cents each just the other day.
I’m 51 when Voltron’s came out I was a little old to watch and was out playing sports all day…my younger brother loved Voltron..late 70’s I had shogun warriors that were like two foot tall and got banned right away in the states..kids were choking on missles and getting eyes shot out..I always hope to find one in my travels
Every generation had their toys that ended up sometimes in comics. In the late 70’s the Micronauts were popular and l actually enjoyed reading the first 15 or so books. The art was done by Michael Golden and l loved his artwork. Had my fingers crossed way back that maybe Hasbro might work with Disney to put them in a movie but l knew the chances were slim to none😂
As someone who is about the same age as you, I loved Voltron as a kid. I was poor too, and I had a plastic one as well. That figure is so awesome! I really dig those pulp magazines. I come across them once in a while, but they're always in terrible condition. Great haul, Mike! I love when you can find a great place to visit where the owners are fun people and you can start up a conversation with them.
Yeah growing up my family didn't have much money neither....I now love buying the toys that we couldn't afford as a kids.....and what a gorgeous Turtles book😮
My eyes lit up when I saw your Voltron! Love it! I wouldn't say I had a poor childhood, but I never had many of the things that my other friends had. My dad bought me a knockoff version of the large Voltron that is put together from 5 separate pieces. I still have it and I kept it in good condition, today it goes for $300!
Nice grab on that Voltron I'm 48 years old and that's right up my alley I hide that cheap little plastic one that you mentioned in the video. Never got to diecast but one Christmas I finally got the big set where they did combine and I was blown away. Congratulations on scoring that. As always thanks for sharing Mike
Huge fan of your channel, I just recently started collecting comics as an adult. My 9yr old son and I are starting the hobby together, TMNT mostly my passion as a child. Keep up the great work love your channel
Beautiful example of a Voltron figure, it looks brand new! And of course, awesome comic pick ups as always! On the road to 6k followers and well deserved my friend.
Great finds, Mike! I had a similar experience with the Maxx, as I always saw it pop up when I was hunting, and finally just bought a few to stash away. I love Sam Keith's art - his take on Wolverine is one of the best. Anyway, keep up the good work, and may your hunts always be fruitful!
Love the Voltron, had a version as a kid as well. I also found that Double Dragon #1 at an antique store locally, gifted it to my brother as we both played the video game as kids. Fun times

I love the classic pulp books. But, that Voltron does bring back memories. I didn’t have it, but my friend did. He kept it displayed as we were a bit older (Freshmen in high-school) and didn’t play with toys… then. That changed again when we got older (lol). The Voltron was just cool looking sitting on his shelf. I love nostalgia.

Oh man what a video. Voltron? TMNT? He-Man? (altho u didn't pick it up, I saw u pass thru it in a long box). Congrats, u hit the trifecta for the 80s jackpot of my childhood. I had the larger Voltron toys as a kid, lost the heads of the lions in my backyard playing as a kid cuz they would shoot off when u pressed a button. My heart skipped a beat when u pulled up the diecast. I didn't know it came out on Netflix recently, def gonna check that out. The early TMNT books are gorgeous, that #5 being no exception. I had a pet rabbit named Raphael when I was a kid, I prolly would've negotiated for that Raph #1 u passed by, it's one of my personal grail books for sure. Awesome video.
Loving all of the original TMNT you’re coming across, I’m always keeping my eye out for some and is a run of love to complete one day. Also love me some Steranko, curious to see how that book shapes up after some tlc. Another awesome video Mike 👏🏽
Nice find on that TMNT issue 5. I found #4 which the cover was used for yhe NES game, at the Western Mass Comic show in Greenfield the last time they had it. I wanted that one cause of the iconic cover and being a Video Game collector and TMNT fan. I'm behind on your videoes cause I didn't see you get issue 1, I will go back and find that video. I haven't been yo Rietta yet since they opened this season. I will need to check out that place in Orange as well.
I'm so jealous of your "real" flea markets. The ones we have here end up with a mix of craft and MLM booths, with a few good dealers here and there. Congrats on your finds!
It's 81 degrees here today in the Tampa area lol , I lived in New England for almost 50 years and I SURE don't miss the cold. Nice pick-ups !!! Always love your videos

Great comment! I definitely have an appreciation for those older TMNT books, and He-Man will always be near and dear to my heart!
Loving all of the original TMNT you’re coming across, I’m always keeping my eye out for some and is a run of love to complete one day. Also love me some Steranko, curious to see how that book shapes up after some tlc. Another awesome video Mike 👏🏽
Love it. Always the best content man! I always look forward to new videos.
The irony is a few days after this it was like 90 degrees here and now I have to mow my lawn. New England weather is all over the place!
The Spectre is my favorite bit the TMNT is the running . The Voltron is awesome. That show came out when I just turned 17. I thought it was rhe coolest cartoon.
Great finds mate. Love Voltron, but when I was growing up. Did they ever make Voltron comics?
@@zimbo111 they did, and they are very cool books!
I never knew of that Double Dragon comic by Marvel. I'm researching it and looking for the series now.
