I like how it’s a Dodge promo but they highlight the important work and function features and still gave credit to Ford and Chevy when they had the better feature. Nowadays they put each other down and just show you the interior and the tech features that costs more.
There's no such thing as truth in advertising any more, businesses and their customers generate their own truths. There's no reason to acknowledge the strengths of your competition when they aren't a part of the reality one has chosen to live in

I'm so sick of talk of "interiors" on today's vehicles, especially trucks...interior shouldn't matter that much on a truck,and besides, I don't consider a bunch of plastic, bucket seats and consoles, dash screens, cup holders much of an "interior" on a truck anyways...give me a thick vinyl bench seat, column shift(unless it's a 4 or 5 speed manual), and a rubber floor mat...that's all the "interior" you need in a pickup....
I have a 1968 F100 my dad bought it brand new in 68, still have it,got a 390 in it , came with a 360 when it was new, had about 370,000 plus miles on it. I put the 390 in it about 17 years ago, truck has now 435,000 miles on it and the old boy still runs great. I'm fixing it up for my son's twin boys. I was seventeen then and I'm just about seventy, I'm just glad the old truck can't talk I would be in some trouble.

Over the years I have owned all 3 of those 1970 models and I'm a Dodge guy but my Ford was best
None could beat Ford back then, It's the world's best selling pickup today,And holds the record for being the most stolen vehicle today 2022, F-150... Dodge was better than a Chevy,Gm trucks too soft-built and wouldn't pull much of shit,318 would beat Ford 302 and Chevy 307,but that 307 was fast as hell for it's small size,I like them all though,I grew up in them,It's American 🏈🏈🏈, Tailgating....
I like 'em all, but my favorite is the Chevy..IMHO, the best pickup body style ever made..not that the others were bad...one thing I don't like about the Ford, though, is the single-wall cargo box on the upper part....

Oh yea! In 1978, I bought a new Scout II TERRA Pickup Truck, loaded Select Edition with 345/4 brl, dual exhaust, 3:51 Trac Loc, 2 speed HD Transfer, with HD 727 Automatic. In Canyon Black with gold steel off road wheels, 32” GoodYear Tracker Tires, gold stripes down the sides from marker light to marker light and white removable Cab Roof! That truck was a beast! Could tow my brothers 10,000 boat&trailer down to the bay at the beginning of summer and back in the fall, like it wasn’t there! Could haul the rated at 2,000 lbs in the bed without bottoming out on all but the biggest bumps. Great truck!

Exactly,...a major reason I don't want/don't need a modern truck...other reasons are the prices, the really thin sheetmetal(or aluminum), really high bedsides you can't reach over, complicated electronics, and(IMHO), terrible styling....
I still see 1970 Chevy Trucks on the road today! Don't see many 1970 Dodge Trucks today unless at a Mopar car show.

More of the Sweptlines are being restored. They have a nitch fan base that's growing, more body patch panels are available. But trim and grilles are hard to find.

Well … no. 1970s 2500$ would be in today money some $17.000$. So the truck would still be relatively cheap compared to modern trucks, but technological also quite primitive.

Which isn't true, you just weren't around to drive the trucks back in 1970, so you think by your guesses that it doesn't work very well compared to a modern day truck. The best truck I ever had was a 1937 Hudson Terraplane Pickup, worked fine, looked fantastic and elegant, and easily started and stopped. If you drove 40 in that automobile or any other you would survive, in modern day if you drove 40 into that automobile you would be in for a hell. Modern day does their damnest to advertise today in only good light. Back then it was all the arrangements from fantastic, to bad, to worst. You will never find pictures of crashes in current times in advertisments, only a cancer patient and black family thrown in there that are smiling for no reason, oh and testing ground conditions like the artic to the desert which doesn't show anything.

Regarding your statements about vehicle safety - those are ... sorry ... just ridiculous. Modern cars are so much safer. Just compare the number of deaths due to traffic accidents which are way lower today than in the 70ties (no matter what country) although we have much more cars and denser traffic today.
If you are seriously trying to tell me that a 1937 car is safer than any modern car, then we are already done - because that's just nonsense.
You can even find here on RUclips a video with a head on offset crash test between a 2009 Chevy Malibu vs 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air It shows that the driver in the much bigger Bel Air would be most likely dead or at least severely hurt, while the Chevy Malibu is way better of and had good chances to just walk away. And a 2009 Chevy Malibu is 11 years old today and not even state of the art.

And of course advertising at no time in history showed crashed cars and always showed products in good light. It's Advertising!
But what they do today is crashtests and you can find a lot of footage e.g. here on you tube. Just compare how older cars compare to todays cars.

I had the same truck ,green with a white roof. I paid $425.00 used i was 18-19 years old. Around 1976. Had no tailgate tho.

Had a ‘75 D-100 Adventurer w/slant 6 & 3 speed - loved it for 4 years and just under 100,000 trouble free miles. Now have a ‘97 Dakota I have had for 23 years and still under 100,000 miles.

I drove a 1960 6 cylinder good truck and I bought a 1967 dodge 3/4 four speed v 8 camper special very dependable truck and easy to work on it. Now all vehicles look beautiful but they're nothing but very expensive plastic .

The thing that got me going was Dodge still selling a truck with a front suspension from the 1930s. And a electrical system from the 1910s.

Yeah, I never did care for this generation of Dodge. The 1972 - 1993 Dodge trucks looked much better in my opinion. Those were the best looking trucks they produced.

I had a '70 GMC that was a coil spring truck. It rode out great.

So this is when you bought a truck you got a truck. Not some rolling network of computers on wheels. There were no body control modules, crash avoidance systems, air bags, or audio control module to sync your phone to that allowed tracking of your whereabouts.
At most, the only electronic systems on these older pickups might me electronic ignition systems. And they performed just fine.
The steering suspension on newer trucks are similar to what is used in passenger cars. Older solid axle suspension systems were tough. They got the job done. You didn’t expect a comfortable ride, it’s a truck for God’s sake.
That Dodge body style was pretty “long in the tooth” by 1970 and still had another year to go! Then came 1972 and finally a redesign - which was still being stamped out 21 years later.....😂
Yeah. Technically the D series began in '61 and got a new body and IFS in '72, and finished in '93. The late '50s C Series cabs were used in mid duty trucks well into the '70s, even the Big Horn used the '57 era cab design. Dodge stretched the tooling for as much as they could get out of it!

@@cbmichels6210 Very popular now, for sure. GM is pretty frustrated that so many of its products of this era are restored down to the bolt, and yet many people can't identify their current products, other than say a few models like Silverado. GM was at the top of their game in 1970.

I can't help but notice that they didn't even try to compare their truck with the beast- International Harvester.
Lee Huff International got out of truck game only a few years later, their sales were low.
No one ever compared their trucks with IHC. When looking to take market share away from a competitor, you don't pick the competitor who hardly has any market share in the first place. That said, I always appreciated International trucks and considered them better in certain ways than the others (though I didn't care much for the front suspension that they used during the last couple of years before they stopped making light trucks).
International made great trucks, but the people who knew about them worked with IH equipment. Joe from the hardware store would never have considered IH.
The farmers knew which truck to buy and it wasn’t any of theses. IH all the way.
IH trucks were pretty good from what I understand, but they were on a major downswing by 1970 in truck sales, they likely weren't included not because they posed any real threat to any of the big three's credibility, but more so because they weren't even a threat at all.
I had a Slant 6 Dodge truck in the mid-70's for work. It had no power steering, manual 3 speed stick shift, no radio, no a/c, just a work truck. That thing was actually very tough and held up great. But man, it was slow. Top speed on level ground, and not loaded, was 75mph. Loaded with filing cabinets in the bed, and a single axle trailer also loaded with filing cabinets, was 50mph, wide open throttle. But you could not wear out that 225 slant 6, it was a tough engine.
Wow! You could get it to 75 mph. The slant six is dependable, but the Ford 300 is better suited for loads. I'm a slant six fan and have a Sweptline with a 225. I'd liked to have seen a 300-ish inch inline six diesel in a 1/2 ton. The v8 Cummins in the Nissan Titan missed the mark. The F100 with the 300 six is a good truck.
I'll take a a 396 chevy truck with a turbohydramatic transmission also cold air and a delco amfm radio.That all I need back then and all I need today.
I'm glad that Dodge finally improved the appearance of its trucks by this point. Between the three trucks, I find the 1970 Ford F100 and the Dodge D100 to be the best looking.

It's interesting that Dodge focused on GVWR. Their's being higher, even though payload is higher the Chevy. That suggests that the Dodge simply is a heavier truck.
The front beam axle has that advantage.

I bought a new chevy 4x4 in 66 just before the draft got me. I headed home and pushing it hard true, slung rod out the side with no warning. Motors locked up and the gauge reads the same and motors cooked! I call em up and explain a way and they said too bad so sad. I parked it in yard after wrecker brought me home and had breakfast with buddies at restaurant next morning there in town. We decide as a group were going into town to see if there are any good rigs on the lots to get me by till figured out. So I'm at a dodge outfit in our sister town and tell what I want/like yada yada. He tells me if I'll trade that dead chevy in (it was pretty) he will set me in a new dodge with nice new dodge. Its a deal! They will come and get chevy tomorrow so with the new papers in hand I start driving the dodge home... should I say to be continued, na, so I get on it when out of sight and not real hard but a couple of one wheel peels. I get to the hard turn off to my place and turn just to watch in mirror a axle on the back with tire on it come right out and gone and me sliding sideways right into a ministers car. It took us both out! I would say what I said there but you know anyway. I'm going to hospital back to sister town cause we don't have a hospital and they said I had to go for a few stitches. I was cursing and it wasn't my best day or form. So I'm out of the doctors office going home with a buddy from that town and he tells me to talk to his dad. Turns out he has a older ford 62 with the big knuckle four wheel drive that he will sell me on payments and not to worry that we were friends so he filled it with gas and I did make it that time with a good rig just not pretty but just glad to have wheels. I got out of the army in fall of sixty nine a little messed up but who wasn't. I got home and the guy who had sold me the ford gave me my money back with title in hand free! I still had it but it was parked till I got home. There are friends and then there was Denny H. who believed me and in me. I liked him better than most any one

383, 413, and some years 440s!
You could get a 426 wedge in '64-67 ultra rare muscletruck Dodge model, but 318. In '67 Dodge the 383 more widely available. Ford didn't have 390 till '68 and Chevy added 396 in '68 too. 440 did not come until '74.

Growing up my family had a 1968 Chevrolet C-10 CST with a Six-Pak camper on it. Equipped with the 307 cid V-8, turbo-hydramatic, power steering and power brakes. Had nearly 200,000 miles on it when my Mother sold it 11 years later. Made vacation trips from San Diego, California to Lorain, Ohio from 1968 to 1973 and was a daily driver too.
I’ll take the 318 , one of the best engines of all time ..
You can't you can't kill a 318 if it's got oil in antifreeze hey run forever as long as you have starters alternators and carburetor used to eat them up love that motor
The 318 was solid for sure, but the rest of the truck...not so much. Kind of the same logic for the people who buy Cummins, most of them get the truck not because its a Dodge (Ram) but because its got the Cummins.

I love the old cars and trucks but they can’t hold a candle to these new ones in any way. Fully boxed frames, huge towing and payload capacity, twice the horsepower with better fuel economy. Start and run perfectly in any weather or altitude. Low maintenance. Luxury liner comfort.
Then again you pay for all that. Adjusted for inflation those old trucks in the video were $23,000. A mid-level model today is $50k.

I'm a Ford guy so I'd go with the Ford, but the best looking Dodges ever made imo were the 1972 - 1993 models, best looking GM's were 1973 - 1988 and Fords were 1973 - 1979. The 70's overall was a good time for anyone who wanted a truck.

I've daily driven a '72 F100, a '72 C10, and currently drive a '65 C20. I know which one I get the most thumbs up in!

I'll take the Ford. We had a 69 F250, we had it for over 25 years, it was tough! Dodge wasn't selling very many trucks back then.
I had a fairly detailed plastic toy Chevy C-10 with cap on the bed when I was in 1st Grade. It was yellow and white with white cap. Would be nice to have it today.

My dad had a 1970 Chevy C10 truck, and I remember it having a gauge cluster featuring gauges for *Fuel,* *Temperature,* and if I'm not mistaken, for *Oil Pressure.* They weren't very easy to see, since they were *underneath* the speedometer and the fuel gauge. But they were there.

You still see thousands of Ford bumpsides on the road, but never see any Dodge trucks from that time frame. Not many Chevy or GMC's either. Here in 2022 you can still get every nut and bolt for the old Fords. Good luck finding Dodge truck parts.
And even after this commercial I still bought a Chevrolet...and still do to this day...I’ve drove all three and I’ve got them rated Chevrolet, Ford and then Dodge....not saying the others are bad cause their not...just a personal preference....

The Dodge vehicles back then for some reason had best window cranks in any truck or car. My 72 Coronet has perfect window mechanisms even with 140k miles on it. My dad's 71 Ford has that problem where if you roll the window all the way down, they get stuck. Same with my buddy's 74 Chevy C20. I don't know what they put in them, but it sure makes a difference.

Congratulations on the Dodge dude very well truck I seen a replica of a Dodge dude that somebody just bought the sticker kit out of some old new old stock. It’s amazing to me how many of these trucks are around that people just stopped using because they were archaic no air conditioning cruise control arcade bench seats but a lot of them were still use this old farm trucks

S Schroeder oh i do. Ive been tripping over those phed boat anchors in the wreckers for years. They had better be more powerful than the slant, they're 30% bigger but they dont have a racing history, not in production nearly as long and were not use as widely in way more applications than the slant.
And ya they wouldn't out last a slant in any condition.
The 300 maybe a decent 6 but its no where as good or verisitile as the slant.

I had two of this model Dodge truck, one was a 1/2 ton and the other a 3/4 ton. Both trucks were very primitive compared to the competitors but I got a load of gravel once in the 3/4 ton and they weighed the truck before and after you were loaded because they charged by the ton. Before the gravel the truck weighed 4900 pounds and after I got loaded it tipped the scale at 9900 pounds, I had 2.5 tons of gravel in the bed which was heaped up almost to the top of the cab. But on the way home I forgot I had to pick up my boat from being worked on, the boat was a 20' tri-haul I/O. So I swung in and hitched the trailer to the 10k pound truck and cruised the highway home no problem, The truck wasn't even down to the stops in back.

I watched a Dodge Truck dealer training video from 1965 and then got recommended this 1970 Dodge training video. It's interesting how from a styling standpoint things changed in five years. In 1965 both the Ford and Dodge looked modern for the era while the Chevrolet, despite being the same age as the Dodge, looked like an aging actress that had plastic surgery done to help hide her years . But, nobody was fooled, just, nobody cared either because the final result was unquestionably highly attractive. 1970 Ford's truck is still up to the minute and Chevy's truck is also contemporary, but, now the Dodge looks old. I prefer this front-end over the prior Dodge models and the newer interior seems competitive on a screen. It's a pleasant looking rig. But; it's a truck out of its time. I get why fleets bought these, because they were tough as nails, and I think I get why civilian buyers by and large seemed to stay away. If you're going to pay new truck prices why wouldn't you buy a truck that looks and has refinement like a new truck?
All that said; by today's standards they're all cool old trucks and whatever difference between them that existed no longer matter. If I were alive then there's a pretty decent chance I'd have been one of the dozens who bought a Dodge truck in 1970. I like Dodges in general, I like the looks, I respect the toughness, and I wouldn't be surprised if the dealer would cut me a heck of a deal to take one.

The chevy is amazing looking. My friend had a 70 GMC longhorn LS9 350 all original drove like caddy was fast took work easily. The Ford has best rear axle

These were great trucks had a c10,great truck no electronic shit just a great everyday work truck ,bring them back
Only thing I didn't like about those trucks was they put the gas tanks inside the cabs which was dangerous because say like if a driver of another car runs a red light or a stop sign & t-bones you between the cab & pickup bed, the gas tank would probably explode.

It’s funny that Dodge (Ram) trucks today use coil springs on the front and back for their 1500 models. They ride nice though. Trucks 50 years ago were made for work. Trucks built today are more like luxury cars.
My under the hood jack 1969 f250 still works I tried it out recently man deal breakers back then counting nickles and dimes i wont pay 3:50 more for a ford 😊

Lol this video makes me love my 1970 3 on the tree Chevrolet C/10 more and more. Fun truck, and I think the C/10 is the best looking. Although I rarely ever see any old Dodges driving around, mostly see Chevys and Fords. Makes me a little skeptical about buying a Dodge truck. But if it's an old Dodge muscle car, I'm in!

According to Google Images they are telling the truth. In any case, GM and Ford definitely did not have a Slant 6 engine so I'm sticking with Dodge for all my early 70s, base model pickup needs ;)
The GM truck coil spring rear suspension is the basis for NASCAR chassis. They used coils 1960-72.
The GMC had leaf springs whereas the Chevy C10 had coil springs
