  • #Agenda | "'Yun yung frustration and hanggang ngayon... We need a forensic science institute."
Forensic pathologist Dr. Raquel Fortun laments that the country has not really institutionalized forensic science until now, decades after she came back from the United States.
"I mean UP... (is the) best place, so we tried, and we got as far a BOR approved, but that was what in the late 90s. Did it ever take off? Wala," Fortun says.
"Ngayon, may usapan na sige rerevive or whatever pero parang napaso na ako eh and at this stage in my life I'm very realistic. I was able to do only this. I only got this far," she adds, hoping that she had planted instead seeds of hope to those who would want to pursue forensic science.
Fortun also shares that there are many Filipino forensic pathologists, however, most of them works offshore.
Fortun earlier conducted the second autopsy on Jun Villamor, the alleged middleman in the Percy Lapid killing. Her findings showed that Villamor died "by plastic bag suffocation."
