    Sosua is a life saver for most men coming from different places and I respect your view but lets not be ungrateful lol to a beautiful vibing small town like the SU. I have been going to the island for 15 years and I will sum it up like this. Sosua is the face to face conversation place for pay for play and more chill vibes with multiple beaches in one location while santo doming is the king of apps for pay for play. More action takes place in santo Domingo then anywhere on this island specifically with gringos from other countries planted there. Sosua has always been like this and worst but you tube promotion is the consequences for judging the whole location and island. There is a reason why the island has Cabanas all over the country lol. I definitely respect your point of view but everyone points the finger at Sosua but Sosua residents never points back at the rest of the island. This is bigger then the SU and the SU is easily an escape mechanism. keep up the good content sir.

    I second everything you said. I’m from the region of Puerto Plata which includes Sosua (I go there frequently to visit my mom), two days before seeing this video I was in a barbershop in Broward County Florida and a guy that I know told me a crazy story about him going to a strip club in Sosua but he was amazed when I told him that I wasn’t familiar with the place and that I’ve never been to any strip club there. Being that I was born in the area you would think that I know people in that business but base on my experience a lot of people around there have very little to do with Sosua, so much so that I’ve been told by locals that a lot of girls that work
    ”the graveyard shift” are not even from the area.

    As a Dominican, something that I always wanted to tell to those man that come here searching for a woman is this: The woman you'd usually find in places like Sosua and Punta Cana that are actively looking for man, those are not a good representation of a real dominican woman and many of them are not even dominicans at all. If you want to find a real one, you need to get away of tourist areas and spend time in the citys, in urban places and meet them in grocery stores, GYMs, Malls, in the streets and similar places... It's more difficult but there you can find a good lady, one that can have healthy and loving relationships.
    Age gap is not a problem here, just be nice, threat her and her family well and you'll be fine.

Put everything on blast everywhere. Be it on the cell phone talking all kinds of private business in public spaces or just talking loud enough for everyone within listening distance to hear your conversation with the people you are with. She didn't know because clowns weren't recording and putting it on RUclips. RUclips wasn't as big back in 08 or 09. I didn't say she never heard the name Sosua. Have you heard of of Scottsboro, AL? Just because she lives on the island doesn't mean she know what happening everywhere. Do you know what's going on in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, or South Dakota? Most people are aware of what's happening in their vicinity. DR is not small island compared to the others in the Caribbean. It not impossible to not be aware of everything going on.

    Yo Jay...I have been coming to the DR for over 12 years. I started out in Puerto Plata and was told about Sosua. Me and several friends visited and we had a ball. However, I quickly wanted to know more about the country. I have visited DR over 30 or more times and decided to leave the fast life and explore other cities and towns such as La Vega, La Romona, Santo Domingo, Caberete, Santiago, Las Terranas and San Francisco. You are correct, DR has so much more to offer than the working women. Although I have indulged, I choose to stay away from Sosua and visit places like Santiago and Santo Domingo for a more local vibe. I've dated several respectable women with good jobs who hate that they are all lumped in by foreigners thinking they are all prostitutes. I support this message and great content!

    Jay, as a brother , an African who lives in the US, it saddens me that most not all the youtubers make it appear like travel is all about chasing skirts. I am proud to say I have travelled to all continents except Australia/Oceania and never paid for a woman to have sex. Just goes against my morals but to each his own so I have no problem with those who see fit to engage.
    My issue is brothers especially make it look like sex is all there is to travel which represents a very limited or rather depraved mindset All this does is confirm the negative biases some already have against us. To be fair, other races do the same nonsense but the difference is for the most part they do not show the world that is what they are about. They know how to hide their dirty laundry.
    Imagine the nerve to ask a random person to come clean your apartment, it is one thing if someone asked you for a job or money but to just straight up assume someone is desperate is crazy and ignorant. Unfortunately it is an American mentality reinforced by the popular saying - everything has a price. There are plenty of people around the world who are poor but have dignity. Majority of women around the world and am sure in the DR too DO NOT trade their bodies for money and I respect that a lot.

    • @JayAbroad
      @JayAbroad  5 месяцев назад

      You are 100% correct, and what's even more disturbing is when you articulate this just as you did, just as I did in the video, you're told that you're hating. Like dude your paying for it. Anybody can do that. What reason does anyone have to hate on that? Instead of seeing that it makes us black men look bad, and then we complain when no one wants us around or they're being racist. Bruh, one guy had the nerve to say videos like mine did more harm to the country than the guys with the creep cam showing the women. Go figure that. He ended up deleting the comment but how do you come to that conclusion from this video🤔. Says a lot about our people and not wanting to accept any accountability. Anyway, thanks for sharing this perspective.

      @muchit3629 5 месяцев назад

      @@JayAbroad Hahaha that is some weird logic, at least they deleted the nonsense. Well, when one has no standards that is all they know so it is easy for them to call you a hater when you shine the mirror on them. Where i am from, everything i do, I have to be mindful how that impacts how my family is viewed and our family name so being decent is not a choice.
      My girlfriend is from Cali, Colombia. Once passing through the Medellin airport I saw three young brothers, pants sagging and showing their underwear walking around talking loud in the departures area. Everyone was looking at them like who are these buffoons and they were totally oblivious of their surrounding. It is very embarrassing but these guys dont care about any negative stereotypes they may project which is unfair to the majority of African Americans like you who are decent people.

    • @blkarmani

      Totally disagree with a lot of what has been said. First off, this is happening in almost every country you can think of. Ask any military veteran. Secondly you shouldn't have to tell people every country has something to offer besides sex. Right now, everyone is getting lazy and looking for that quick buck, and I'm talking about the RUclipsrs. Anything dealing with pretty women is what sells an boost their algorithms. If you want to travel for food,relaxation,site seeing, or women or men it's to the individual. People complaining but right now a lot of money is been put into some countries because of some of these guys. What we really should be asking is what are these countries doing for their people especially women for them to better themselves so they won't be out their selling their souls.

    • @muchit3629
      @muchit3629 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@blkarmani You do not get the point. Nobody disputes that prostitution happens in many countries. The point is most people are smart to know this is not something the majority of people accept not withstanding the laws that politicians can put in place due to the fact some of them may benefit directly or indirectly due to this business.
      Your point about algorithms and making money driving youtubers while true is not convincing. There are many youtubers who make money without selling the allure of cheap sex. Also some brothers say they are tired of American women which may be so but then why travel around the world to pay for sex when you can do it in your neighborhood. Prostitution is rampant in the US though illegal. Why not go to these countries and seek relationships since they are supposedly running away from "bad" women or relationships.
      You say women are selling their souls, what about the men who engage in the same. I think both are depraved. To think another person can be bought, used and discarded certainly dehumanizes both the man and woman. The fact that prostitution is legal in these places is no reason to promote it as if it a good trade. Let me know if you would let your daughter engage in this trade or how many men who engage would truly be ok with their daughters or sisters taking part in this trade.

    I have family in Sosua and I don't go there as often as I used to due to the disrespect to the people, culture, and even some of my family there, I see from the travelers. I have been to almost every major city there, but my favorite cities were Nagua, Sabana de la Mar, and Samana across the bay.

    I'm seeing this late, but I'm gonna comment. I agree with you wholeheartedly about the impression and degradation of Sosua and about all of the great things the D.R. has to offer. I started going to the D.R., and I will admit, Sosua in 2000. It was completely different than it is now. Just as you say that not all of the D.R. is Sosua, I will also say that not all of Sosua is El Batey (bars, clubs, hotels). I met regular hard-working people from Maranantha, Sosua Abajo, Los Charamicos, La Union; friends I still have to this day. I went a few times a year between 2000-2007 and always rented a car. That afforded me the opportunity for my friends to show me so much of the Island; Samana, various campos, Blanca Arriba, Navarette, Esperanza, Santiago, Santo Domingo, Yasica and other towns along the Tourist Highway between Sosua and Santiago, Gaspar Hernandez and so many other places. I came to know the 'real' D.R. My experiences were enhanced because I speak some Spanish. On the other hand, I have a friend who has been there around 50 times and never left El Batey Sosua and the chicas. I personally don't understand people who will go to a country several times and make no attempt to actually understand the culture.

    I live in NY and worked for many years in the Dominican community, Washington Heights. It's as close to being in the DR culturally as you can get outside the DR. I always wanted to go and had to decide where in the DR I would travel to. After seeing video after video of Sosua by a certain class of Americans that don't seem to understand or respect the culture I decided to go to Zona Colonial. I'm so glad I did because I got to learn so much more about Dominican history, a history many people are unaware of. Will I go to Sosua? I'm on the fence because as an American I know some of us can be a real embarrassment abroad. But I do understand why you feel the way you do, some of the "content creators" have no shame or respect and don't understand the effect they have...

      Brother, thanks for commenting. I personally don't think it's anything wrong with Sosua. It's a red light district and many go there for that reason. It's also a nice small town with friendly residents and beautiful beaches. My only issue is how some people take this one place characterize the entire country and treat it as such and the women as such. By all means go there enjoy yourself. Hell me and my wife go sometimes if we are in the Puerto Plata area.

    Well said! Positive, progressive, and respectful truth! I see no flaws in these statements. Everyone deserves common RESPECT and as you said it, the childish irresponsible side of the internet has helped fuel these perceptions of making every popular vacation destination out to be a red light district. And that’s foul and not realistic. There is so much more to do everywhere on this planet than drink hard, smoke hard, and screw hard with careless precautions on all three for how most wild Americans get down. And the rate of cancers, addictions, and STDs showcase the results. A ‘ghetto of the mind’ mental is real and if one stays locked in that mentality they will seek only that even when they go abroad. Salute to you for giving an honorable alternative perspective. The more of us that do this will create a new narrative and identity for Black American travelers. Salute 🫡
