One year on from his debut album The 5th Exotic‚ Quantic delivered his second album Apricot Morning and as one listen to it will show, the musical future is looking bright for this young producer who was only 22 at the time of completion of this album. Will Holland, aka Quantic, has developed a sound combining influences from jazz, hip hop, afro, funk, soul and breakbeats to forge a style that is truly original. The album has a melting pot of techniques and tempos that has influences from across the world but with an undubitably UK-centred sound. This is no doubt due to the fact that Quantics production expertise and musical skill has brought the best out of the talented British artists and musicians who he has collaborated with to help push the Quantic musical vision forward. This album received an incredible amount of positive acclaim from a huge variety of national and international press as well as club and radio djs worldwide. With this album, Quantic further proves that he can make quality music in a variety of styles that has the ability to connect with people from a variety of musical backgrounds which, is surely what good music is about.

I used to blast this record in high school and it still slaps!! Cant believe he was 22. Im 33 now w a music degree, producing and writing, and this still sounds like a breath of fresh air. Love him and his open taste. Thank you Will!

20 minutes in I'm loving this. I find it difficult to understand how a 22 year old can have listened to enough music to make this music. Wonderful.

I remember from an Interview where he said that he tracks down his fav artists from the 60 and 70s and works with them instead of just sampling them from old records.

You're so right! The 5th Exotic (previous album) was recorded in Holland's bedroom. I never would have known if it wasn't it the vid description. Quantic is one of the many lesser known artists that just keeps blowing my mind.

Most (probably all?) of these tracks were the alternative soundtrack to the surf movie Campaign (or Campaign 2) by Taylor Steele from 2003 or so. So amped that Tru Thoughts and Taylor Steele teamed up because all of these tracks were straight fire when paired with the mind-blowing surf from the likes of Bruce Irons, Andy Irons, Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Dane Reynolds, Kalani Robb, CJ and Damian Hobgood, Dean Morrison, Taylor Knox, Tim Curran, Taj Burrow and many of the best surfers from that era.
Lot of good times with Mass Effect and Quantic hah. Anything to fill the void of BoC
DIG IT.
