  • Taboo Room Interviews ex-London Gangster who was convicted of modern day slavery and running county lines. Glodi has spent nearly more years in maximum security prisons and youth offenders than he has on the roads. It all started when Glodi arrived from Congo, his life quickly spiralled out of control.
This is the most powerful story I have heard since starting this project.
Glodi is hoping to inspire and prevent others from making the same mistakes as he once did by sharing his story.

This interview is powerful. Up there with my most favourite interviews. He told his life story so eloquently and kept it real. No ‘bragging’ or ‘feel sorry for me’ mentality. Just the facts 💯. There needs to be more support out there for our young people. For him to come out of prison and turn his life around, he is such a role model. This video should be shown in schools!! They can't just go get a job. There is only so many times their friends parents will let them sleepover.. so then what? If you dont have anyone else that will take you in.. an urban setting like that, you have few options. You can steal food to survive.. but then where do you sleep? You need money. So you can steal and sell things. You can sell yourself. Or you can sell drugs. The options are pretty limited. He also was from a foreign country, and probably didn't know about things like child welfare offices or social services. His parents throwing him out really just set him up to go down an even worse path. If they would have sat down with him, had an honest conversation about drugs and the consequences, what could happen, and disciplined him in a responsible way, his whole life could have been different. I don't blame any child for what they had to do to survive on the grimy ass streets of London, alone at 13 years old.

They were absolutely wrong for kicking him out they clearly thought he will just come home and be remorseful hence they kept going to the police when they realised that wasn’t the case and the police didn’t do their job regarding him being a 13year old child who tells a child if you tell us you are ok we will leave you alone that sounds crazy but the system is built against him even without the predicament he found himself. I'm glad I watched this. I expected this to be another damning video that paints the black person as a 'pure evil thug'. Well done for taking this video in another direction, and well done to the interviewee. He is a brave guy for doing this! 👏
More black criminals need to be open about how they get caught up in crime, and they need to be honest about the negative sides of being a criminal. Openness from men needs to be respected in the black community so they can feel comfortable enough to be open. They need to be given the opportunity and the right platforms - with the least amount of bias - to express themselves.
People need to appreciate that black criminals deal with mental, emotional and physical damage - just like any other non-black criminal - which facilitates turning to crime to make good money. *We need more videos like this in the media and fewer videos glorifying black-on-black violence.* Ignorant people will watch music videos encouraging the latter, and they'll view biased news stories and then conclude that 'all black people are inherently thuggish and emotionless'.
_Glorify_ the humanization of _all_ people, and _glorify_ being open about struggles. Black people have feelings, _just like_ any other race. They get bullied _just like_ every other race. *But, they are probably told to hide their pain **_more than_** any other race.*
Black people get called 'white' when they are educated, classy or well-spoken. Black men get called 'gay' if they are gentle and show emotions; they are likened to a female's genitalia if they don't react to disrespect in a way black people are shown to stereotypically react to it on so many media platforms. *Work needs to be done to help make the word 'black' synonymous with: patient, hard-working, trustworthy, protective, loyal, sympathetic, empathetic, and smart.*
More of the British government's funding needs to go towards mental health support, counselling, parental training, housing support, teaching assistance, learning difficulty/disability testing, teaching facilities, school expansions, and schooling for those with special education needs. These types of support are severely lacking in poorer borough sub-districts.
All humans deserve to be humanised! 🤖❌️
