A1 was a very calm and friendly person, very quiet, and seemed lost the majority of the time. I always wondered why. Then, after I found out he got deported, i got to know his actual story. A lot of A1 friends I knew cause they played for my rugby team like Chris Nzeh and Deo and Charles tamale. All 3 are in prison for murder. I always used to envy tho guys cause they were much more road than me but looking back I’ve moved on, got kids and a wife etc and those guys are still in prison. Solid interview. It's so refreshing to get to see the normal side of artists, especially artists in genres (i.e drill music) that may not be respected by everyone and even feared by some. The insight on this man is incredible.
The only thing I'd personally disagree with A1 on; there is no way someone can tell me that Drill groups (gangs of London that rap) are not using their music to antagonise their rival gangs. Yes, I 100% think that people get caught up in whatever situation they're in, whether that's stabbing someone or rapping mad. But, Drill music that sells is full of disrespect to dead opposition and antagonistic lyrics. To think that their rivals won't react badly to that is mildy short-sighted. I have a friend who was born in Canada, to Australian parents on holiday. They came home to Australia before my friend had turned 2, moving forward 25+ years, my friend was deported to Canada after 18 months incarcerated on non-violent charges. He told me his time in immigration detention was 10 times as traumatizing as his time in prison. To then arrive in a country where he didn't know a soul, I can only imagine his mindset.

The funny thing is is that when tourists visit Central or anywhere in zone 1 or even parts of zone 2, everything seems extremely wealthy, afflunet and peaceful, civilized and gentrified, and for the vast vast majority of tourists, the violence and roadlife aint touching them. I guess as well it is safety in numbers, there is always people out and about at all hours in Central London, little d many tourists know that London has a violent underbelly below the surface. He said if these guys see him again they will do the same in that area. Hearing the extent of crime in London is why I'm glad guns aren't legal here in London *(even though gangs have them anyways)* or it's a wrap for the youth or London in general. We love to call them knives these things are really combat swords and knives made for butchering animals, I was in Woolwich and I saw a ginger white kid maybe 12-13 wearing full tracksuit, blue elastic gloves, bally on everyting getting arrested by police and everyone was standing around watching and one officer pulled a 15" Rambo out of his tracksuit bottoms and I was shocked and African aunties were gossiping and shaking their heads and videoing for WhatsApp obviously lol. But it was then when I deeped how bad it has become because seeing a Rambo in person is different because it's like, wow *people use those on other people???* because I hear about lyrics on this in drill and brush it off until I saw it my mindset changed like we have to actually change London is *TAPPED* fr we need to do better especially in the black community or ethnic community in general it's gotten to the point where ADULTS fear the YOUTH the most like 13 years old is mad young bro.

Being brought up in a broken area with tons of crime there are 3 types of people. 1. (Actors) The type of people/groups who look hard for a video with a balaclava and gloves claiming they want to hurt people, and stab this and that guy up but will never do anything to anyone in their life. 2. (Criminals/gangsters) The people who have carried a knife from young, have stolen or been brought up around people who steal from innocent people, watches, phones, cars, bags, clothing, and then have wasted their life over an item they can earn from hard work and are at risk of getting out in prison. 3. (Drug Dealers) The people who mainly just want to have an expensive lifestyle, expensive car, house, they aren't necessarily the ones who even want to hurt, harm, stab or kill anyone but they get caught up in the act, either dead or in prison.
Clearly a smart guy but there are enough black musicians that make it. I'm not buying the wholesale racism thing in this context. Or his defense of drill - boasting about killing and smoking on dead ops absolutely promotes violence. It's not like they rap in an introverted way about their experiences, with a Dave tone. The fact that it gets listens is fine but drill rappers can't wash their hands of culpability... it's just another vicious circle.
A1.....i was an immigration officer for 17 years. ...i resigned in 2018 due to feeling totally disillusioned with what used to be a honest and transparent public service. Please dont feel targetted or singled out.... .its really not jealousy or vindictiveness.....its inderference and ease of victim that drives the process. If you don't have citizenship of a country whether you grow up there or not. Get arrested, convicted, incarcerated then deported. See it regularly in Canada. And we have a very weak justice system.

A1 used to chill with us here and there in Ealing around them times. My friend Michael introduced him to us . A1 was a very calm and friendly person, very quiet, and seemed lost the majority of the time. I always wondered why. Then, after I found out he got deported, i got to know his actual story. It's really sad he had to go through that. hope the best for him. Great character.

A lot of A1 friends I knew cause they played for my rugby team like Chris Nzeh and Deo and Charles tamale. All 3 are in prison for murder. I always used to envy tho guys cause they were much more road than me but looking back I’ve moved on, got kids and a wife etc and those guys are still in prison. My school used to get preyed on by the other schools in Edmonton (I went to latymer) but it’s strange cause the so called road kids were some of the realest most down to earth loyal kids I met whereas the nerds in my school were mostly two faced scumbags, now doing things like being doctors and lawyers where they lie all day long. As I like to say often, up is down and black is white.

He was kinda screwed over with the deportation, but he should take accountability for his criminal acts. Attempted murders, GBH, possession of bladed article, possession of firearm. He showed his bail papers on snapchat a while ago. He also brags about stabbing people & trapping. So with all this, you can't play victim & complain that police target you. He's not a law abiding citizen.
He didn’t say the police targeting him he said the feds were unfair to him since numerous people that gone done for the same thing got less time and stress, He held the accountability he said what he did was wrong and he did the time and served it.

They came home to Australia before my friend had turned 2, moving forward 25+ years, my friend was deported to Canada after 18 months incarcerated on non-violent charges. He told me his time in immigration detention was 10 times as traumatizing as his time in prison. To then arrive in a country where

The funny thing is is that when tourists visit Central or anywhere in zone 1 or even parts of zone 2, everything seems extremely wealthy, afflunet and peaceful, civilized and gentrified, and for the vast vast majority of tourists, the violence and roadlife aint touching them. I guess as well it is safety in numbers, there is always people out and about at all hours in Central London, little d many tourists know that London has a violent underbelly below the surface. Edmonton is about 7 miles from Central London and might as well be a different world!

I’ve had one friend quite like this guy. Streetwise and intelligent. He was from St Ann’s in Nottingham. 5 guys “poked” him with the end of the knife 9 times. He was speaking up for his girlfriend when this gang of lads jumped him. I saw my mate carry a knife after this situation. Big black guy he is, but living in REAL fear. He said if these guys see him again they will do the same in that area. Anyway he saw 2 of them when he was carrying a knife, stabbed one and said “Soz bro”….. the papers said “killer says Soz bro”…… but that was my friend in the moment of fear. I knew. He’s now serving 23 years without parole.

Hearing the extent of crime in London is why I'm glad guns aren't legal here in London *(even though gangs have them anyways)* or it's a wrap for the youth or London in general. We love to call them knives these things are really combat swords and knives made for butchering animals, I was in Woolwich and I saw a ginger white kid maybe 12-13 wearing full tracksuit, blue elastic gloves, bally on everyting getting arrested by police and everyone was standing around watching and one officer pulled a 15" Rambo out of his tracksuit bottoms and I was shocked and African aunties were gossiping and shaking their heads and videoing for WhatsApp obviously lol.
But it was then when I deeped how bad it has become because seeing a Rambo in person is different because it's like, wow *people use those on other people???* because I hear about lyrics on this in drill and brush it off until I saw it my mindset changed like we have to actually change London is *TAPPED* fr we need to do better especially in the black community or ethnic community in general it's gotten to the point where ADULTS fear the YOUTH the most like 13 years old is mad young bro.

Being brought up in a broken area with tons of crime there are 3 types of people.
1. (Actors) The type of people/groups who look hard for a video with a balaclava and gloves claiming they want to hurt people, and stab this and that guy up but will never do anything to anyone in their life.
2. (Criminals/gangsters) The people who have carried a knife from young, have stolen or been brought up around people who steal from innocent people, watches, phones, cars, bags, clothing, and then have wasted their life over an item they can earn from hard work and are at risk of getting out in prison.
3. (Drug Dealers)
The people who mainly just want to have an expensive lifestyle, expensive car, house, they aren't necessarily the ones who even want to hurt, harm, stab or kill anyone but they get caught up in the act, either dead or in prison.
Clearly a smart guy but there are enough black musicians that make it. I'm not buying the wholesale racism thing in this context. Or his defense of drill - boasting about killing and smoking on dead ops absolutely promotes violence. It's not like they rap in an introverted way about their experiences, with a Dave tone.
