OMG I was pleasantly surprised with Uncle Funky's Curl Stimulator. It doesn't have a cast but my curls stayed in place for a full week!😱 That never ever happens for me. My curls need a freaking cast, but that gel got me shooketh to my coreth💯
That giovanni has a super strong hold. I have never used it for a wash n go. I used it for a slick style and my hair was so crunchy i never picked it back up. I dont like crunch
You are right on time with this video!!! I forgot about the Giovanni gel. I have it but haven't tried it, and I need to try it because I just tried the argan Eco Style gel, and the results are awesome but I dislike the ingredients.
Thank you for the recommendations. I have been looking for natural gels with strong hold because Eco Styler and Wetline dry my hair out if I use them back to back. I live in the south and need a strong hold in the summer. Great video.
I agree with Red seouls; I love Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic! It holds your hair and in my opinion, that what's counts. This will be my reference when I run out of the gels I currently have in my stash.
This review is right on time! I actually googled ingredients for Eco styler this morning and it contains wheat. Unfortunately I’m gluten intolerant and CANNOT mess with it at all!!!! Thank you so much for the review. My CVS carries the Giovanni LA and I will be picking it up tomorrow.
I use Treluxe hi definition gel and love it. I also use Jessicurl Spiralicious Gel and I get definition, hold and crunch; used it last week and got 6 days out of my wng. I used the CRN Lavender gel and I was not impressed because it did not hold past one day, so CRN Curlmaker is still my go to all year round. I need to see if I can find that Giovanni Gel. Thank you for sharing.
That uncle funkys does not survive when stretching your hair and too light weight. It was fine when freshly applied but after it was drying up I know it wouldn’t hold much and I was right. Excellent for twists though even though it remains sticky for a few days.
Great Video, I have the Fro'zen grip but haven't tried it and I will have to revisit the Treluxe Hi Definition again because I don't remember it being great for my 4c hair. I was surprised that you didn't have kinky curly curling custard on the list because I bounce between KCCC and UFDCM as almost the same products with very similar results for me. But I am in Colorado and I remember when you were here and you did braids due to the dry climate. I have been following you forever and love your content.
Thank you so much for this video! I was wondering about each of these gels. Especially the Camille Rose and Soultanicals. I’ve tried Tre Luxe and I absolutely love it! It’s one of my top gels. Great video 💙
Even though I hate that Giovanni gel, I know that you can get it at the mega Bed, Bath, and Beyond stores as well. Someone told me I couldn’t say drip and grip was natural because of the few unnatural ingredients. 🙄
Why do you dislike the Giovanni gel? I have some but only tried a little bit on a section but am not familiar with how gels work either. Maybe I still have time to return it if there's something specific that is an issue. Thanks
Sable 711 My experience won’t really help you. Try that gel out! It just doesn’t clump my hair at all and I don’t like the smell. Leaves my hair looking like there isn’t any product.
@@WhatTheKink I only tried it on a small section of here and I've never done a washing go so I don't know about clumping and I don't know what to expect. Seems like crunch is supposed to be a positive thing as well, not certain if I know what that means when it comes to hear either. Doesn't sound like a positive thing but it must be. Thanks for your response and I'll try it on a bigger section of here next time. Just also wondered if gels are supposed to be shampooed out frequently, are they damaging? Or can I wait until my usual wash day which is generally Lee about 3 weeks.
@Ca S thank you for your response. I just don't know how to style my hair and to get it to do what I wanted to do nor will my schedule allow weekly shampoos and it seems to be too much manipulation for my hair.
Bunnie The Soultanicals Frozen Grip gel works well for slicking the hair. I don’t like it at all for wash and go because it dries my hair out terribly.
@@TheMrsBany update on this or would you still recommend this one for slicking hair? Just found out eco styler and wet line have bad ingredients in them so looking for something natural for my daughters 3c hair slick backs please x
@@ALove4Me don’t know how to put it “ non botanical gels” you know like eco styler. Does it mater how manny film forming humectants are in a gel to qualify it as botanical. Hope that’s clearer

Agreed, I don't know what kind of voodoo they use, but I certainly ain't gonna ask any questions.
Kinky curly curling custard is pricey as heck but my curls are locked for 7 days straight!
I love Uncle Funky’s Daughter gel!! Love your hair!

Who you tellin! Yes, strong hold or not at all in these humid southern streets.
Thanks for this video. I’m a type 4 girl with frizzy curls in the summer so I ain’t mad at the crunch.
I was in need of this. THANK YOU!

As usual, this video came right on time ( I'm looking for a strong hold gel). You always come through to give the people what they want/need!
Thank you so very much sis!
The Camille Rose Lavender Gel is my new favorite....I’m on my second bottle. I will have to try the Giovanni gel....you got me curious.😉

I find KCCC doesn't have a lot of hold or the same longevity as UFDCM

Curly Magic is on my radar for sure! Thanks for these recommendations. Gonna save this video for reference! 😊

Jell-O shot by Ecoslay is another one. You have to store it in the refrigerator.
Great video. I love Uncle Funky's daughter curl stimulator. I have to try the Giovanni. Thanks.
My favorites are the CRN lavender gel and UFD. I'm amazed a how long UFD holds nicely formed curls.
I wanted to love the CRN lavender crush but it has no hold for me. I love the definition though.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong but , xanthan is not Synthetic .
Thx for this. I wish there had been mention of whether or not they contain protein. I've used KKCC with success.
None of the products I mentioned contain protein, but the Treluxe contains strengthening ingredients.
@@ALove4Me Thanks 🙂 I'm looking @ your Soultanicals Drip Grip vid now 😊
Love the learning\creating bit at the end. Ty
Thanks for this much needed vid. I definitely want to try the UFD Curly magic. 🤗😘
Yessssss living for the color. So pretty 😍
Thank you!
Great video. A few newbies that I have to try.
Thanks for this video!! I was looking for more natural gels.
thank you for this helpful video!!!
Does the Giovanni mix well with camille rose products?
Yep
Target has uncle funky gel on sale 30% off , today's the last day.
PLEASE try Earthtones Natural Curl Enhancing Gelly!!! You have to order it but I LOVE IT!!!!!!
It's on my list!
Thank you for this awesome video! I love your hair ❤️also, what hair color do you have? It's gorgeous!!
Thank you. Check out this video: ruclips.net/video/m3T-6XRSizo/видео.html
Kinky curl ly custard no crunch but does give hold
Cantu custard has a hold also but dont use a moisturizer
Awesome video . What about edge control ?
I don't use it
LOVE Curly Magic!
Could you also use all of these gels for slicked back styles or are they only for curl defining hold?
I haven't tried that, so I couldn't say

How do you identify humectant vs anti humectant gel?
I really don't know of any anti-humectant gels

Hey, if you had to do this again would the Obia Curling Custard make it to this list?
I don’t think the Custard as the level of hold of these, but I can get a good week with the Custard
Thanks for this video
3:19 is it good for holding down your hair too, or is it just good for curls?
Can't say because I have never tried it that way
