Once, I worked a contract in Utah for a few months and I was rocking multi-day, perfectly-defined twist outs the whole time. But then on the way back home to Florida, I had a layover in Atlanta and my twist out went to an afro in an instant. I went in the bathroom and twisted my hair right on up during the layover.

Thank you for this. I've just moved back to the Caribbean from England and my go to style there was a twist out. All I had to do was wet my hair with water and coconut oil and twist or braid my hair and it would last days! Then I moved back and nothing was working, until I found your channel last week. Thank you thank you thank you!

I am soooo glad that you did this video!! I live in south Georgia and visit Florida often (Tampa area) and I just tend to do more protective styling during our high humidity months because as you stated I will have a beautiful twistout and then step out side only to have it shrink 2 sizes down! And given the fact that I am already sweating as well and on top of that the humidity I just give up on twistouts or braidouts until the fall seasons when its somewhat less humidity....So thanks for this video and I am looking forward to the next one!!!

Agree with all your tips, I learned my first natural hair summer that I live in Houston and the summer humidity here will ruin a lot of styles without a very good base. I am finally at a great place with my wash n style, I do however wear my hair in braids most days in the week as I have often mentioned, when it is out I will wear the wash n style. I did use the Paul Mitchell serum once during the summer didn't do bad at all. Looking forward to the video, maybe I will do a twist or braid out before the weather change fo whatever season it wants to, certainly not according to the charts!

Since the mid-Atlantic states experience all four season, it may not be considered a humid climate, but I know the dew points have been upwards of 70 this summer and that is no joke. I pull out my non-glycerin gels to use during the summer months. Even though I do not do twist outs, this was still valuable information. Thank you.

The best humidity I've ever experienced was in Lima, Peru during our summer and their winter. It's on the coast of the Pacific, and although it never really rains there (it's technically a desert), the air is constantly saturated with water at 80-90% humidity, but it's *cool* outside in the 50s or so, so there's no drying from heat, just moisture. I swear my 4z hair had never been softer, more manageable, pliable, and moisturized. I still look longingly at pics of my no longer achievable big, fluffy, moisturized-for-days twist outs that plumped out and transformed to my own beautiful texture like a WNG! I can't achieve that here in dry a$$ Virginia. Neva!

Okay so do you have a water soluble silicone that you can recommend? I kind of felt I need silicone would help because my hair would do the same thing with a relaxer and I suspected a stylist was using something different and my friends notice that my hair was in shrinking up with the relaxer she actually put something on it when she was blow-drying and I never flat ironed. So it is silicone. I had a silicone-based heat protectant for minimal blow-drying so would you say that I can just rub that on my hair after setting with gel or I'm probably doing something wrong in place of jail is what I should say?
