Absolute favorite glycerin-free gel is "Curls Blueberry Bliss Curl Control Jelly". I live in New Orleans, so the humidity is through the roof since our city is below sea level(!). My advice to folks living in environments w lots of humidity and/or rain is to stay away from styling products with glycerin: glycerin is great for shampoos and wash-out conditioners, but for any products that will remain on your hair for the week (in other words, "stylers") glycerin-free is the way to go if you want your to *not* frizz up or lose definition. Thanks so much for giving us the lowdown on glycerin-free gels you've tried.
@Miranda Hi Miranda. My *new* favorite glycerin-free gel is by Cantu (available @Walgreens) and it’s called “Moisture Retention Styling Gel: with flaxseed and olive oil”. This one is actually much more effective than the Blueberry Bliss I recommended two years ago (and more economical!). My styles last an entire week in the high-humidity atmosphere of New Orleans. You should give it a try. Good luck!
Uncle funky daughter is my holy grail. It is the only gel that works for my kinky hair besides flaxseed gel. I have tried many others with great disappointment. If they ever stop making it I don’t know what I would do with my hair!
Super great video, first love your hair, the gels are awesome to learn more about. I thought I would try a less expensive gel to learn a technique my hair would agree with, my choice LaBella, as for as a little more pricey gel I went UFD after walking around Target with that one, Kinky Curly, and my beloved CR curlmaker. I love the Curlmaker, however sometimes the price I know it is not necessary to use a lot, however for this time I wanted to give UFD another shot, I watch your video about technique several times to really get an idea of which one would work best for me. Now my hair is fine, medium density and strands, discovered I was raking wayyyyy to much and as my hair dried the definition would be gone, so now I smooth my hair in larger sections and it has been working, I like to do my hair every other day because of working out and I just like a fresh style, so thank you for all your tips and hard work to help naturals like me finally conquer and be a part of the wash n go community if you will.
Great video. I love Uncle Funky's daughter curly magic. My favorite. I use Oyin hair dew under it and have moisture for days. I also like Kinky curly, I'm just afraid to put anything else under it except Knot today. I love your videos so much. Just totally confused on why you don't have more subscribers.
Uncle funky is still my favorite from this series. Great hold and moisturizing. Can't beat that its natural to boot. My other good glycerin free find is Lotta Body setting foam. Its glycerin free and has an amazing hold for my fine hair. It clumps well and it's only $3.99. For a hot minute, I was putting it over my uncle funky's curl magic for dang near bulletproof (humidity) hair this summer. I have started experimenting with foams a lot at the moment. Next up is Elasta QP mango butter setting foam and Texture I.D. I feel like while gels are good foam gets my hair dryer faster and I get more volume without a lot of fluffing. Do you use any setting foams? I know you mentioned them briefly but what are your thoughts on foams for wash and gos/ twist outs/ braid outs? This series has been super helpful. Look forward to whatever is next.
I like foams for wash and go's as well, for the reasons you mentioned. Its hard to find one that will give good hold for multi-day hair, but I love the Texture ID foam.
I’m so surprised that you didn’t like the curl crush but then I realized I’m in Brooklyn, NY and you deal with much more humidity in Florida. I really like the curl crush because it doesn’t leave the hair crunchy but you have to use in combination with the the sweet buttuh. I do want to try the Uncle funky’s daughter gel. Great job on the wng series.
I love this video. I have been a natural for 3 three years and I am still learning. I love UFD Curly Magic and TreLuxe is on my list of products I want to try next. I wasn't a fan of the Mane Choice Crystal Orchid Gel, I used it twice and it was not as defining as I expected and the hold was just ok. The Mane Choice Egyptian and Tropical Moringna lines gave me a lots of definition but the hold is light so I only get two days of my wash and go before having to refresh, but I used these during this very hot and humid summer. I am going to try those two gels again during the fall and winter when the humidity is low and maybe I'll get more than two days out of it.
I love your your channel! I have gotten my products and I'm finally ready to try WnG's. I thank you so much for All the info I've gained from ur videos💜 Ur hair is beautiful🌻
I liked how you categorized the Gels and make it easier for people to get a full understanding of the Gels, the climatic conditions of which to use them best and the price point. My holy grail is the Eco Curl and Wave which never fails me yet and it doesn't flake no matter how much Gel l use throughout the week. I use it for slick back hairstyles and also for Finger Curls. I have yet to use it on a Wash n Go though, of which l know it's gonna work because it enhances my curl pattern! The Eco Sports Gel is a good Wash n Go Gel, it gives good definition and one can always refresh their curls and activate the Gel just by using water. It lasts 3 to 4 days in my hair!
I love this series! I've found new products to try and that's priceless, bc the options are endless O.O Thank you for the time and energy you put into your videos :D
I love CRN curlmaker and Uncle funky's gel, these two give me my best wng! I get several compliments with both. Love this video, I will be trying out your favorites and see how they work for my hair.
Thanks for this video. Your hair is beautiful and so are you I am going to give the Uncle funkys daughter a try especially next year (Jan) when I start swimming more. TFS
My wash n go technique has improved but it could be better. I still get dry hair on day 2. Using Camille Rose hair milk under Extreme Wetline which makes my hair crunchy. Please help!
Ok so when I moved from Georgia to Florida I had the worst time ever with my hair. I didn't know how to style it anymore because of the humidity. Do you know if any of these products will hold a twist out or braid out because I'm so tired of wearing my hair up all the time. I personally don't wear wash and goes because they don't do anything for my hair texture 😔
Yes, honestly any of the ones I mentioned I liked would work, but I would go for one of the cheapies like Aussie Instant Freeze or Proclaim Argan Oil gel.
Thanks for sharing. Will try Uncle Funky sometime soon. Have you used it to style a bun/up-do? I haven’t done a wash n go on these 4d koils. Please let me know.
Thanks for your video as always; very informative. You are so helpful. Do you use UFD curly magic with a leave in or just alone - which method is better? Dee from the UK xxx.
How do you know if your hair is glycerin sensitive? Usually by day 2 or 3 I have a lot of frizz, hair is puffy, shrunken and have to re twist at night or apply more product/ gel.
I haven't tried Spiralicious. I've seen several naturals with looser curls love it, and then as the curls get tights, people don't like it. So, I'm hesitant to try Spiralicious. Have you tried it?
Has anyone here ever used the Curly Magic with no leave in? I used it for the first time yesterday and am not getting a good hold. Wondering if it was the leave in?
I know you don't do a lot of twist outs or braid outs, but what's the effect of glycerin on the hair since so many styling products contain it, living in Florida I was just wondering if I should stay away from products with glycerin. Haven't been able to master a wash and go yet but can use the gel for up dos.
Good video.....let start the twist out video. Waiting for u to try.... She scent it and bask and blooms products. Also never seen u demo anything from soultanicals

Antoinette Chevalier I’m your neighbor and thank you! This humidity here is the devil! 😉
I am here in NO too and am just now figuring out that glycerin is the reason I need more therapy.

@@antoinettechevalier2453 I am going to try that one. Does it work well in may through September
Thank youuuu. Omg my hair doesnt last with glycerin based gels, especially in the summer
Uncle funky daughter is my holy grail. It is the only gel that works for my kinky hair besides flaxseed gel. I have tried many others with great disappointment. If they ever stop making it I don’t know what I would do with my hair!
Loving the shape of your hair! ❤️

I love that, "dang near bulletproof hair"! I totally understand that. I could have used that this summer.

Thanks for bringing us along. I always wanted to go to a hair show.
Thanks for sharing this list. It will help when I will try a wash n go
Such a good video, very detailed which is great. I couldn’t stop staring at your hair 💗
😘
Camille Rose (Curl Maker) I think is awesome!!!
GREAT! 👍🏽 feedback extremely helpful and informative. Thank you for taking the time.
its about time lol the humidity has been messing my hair up
Thanks for this video. Your hair is beautiful and so are you I am going to give the Uncle funkys daughter a try especially next year (Jan) when I start swimming more. TFS
Thanks for the awesome video. I always love your content. I'm going to purchase uncle funkys again. I purchased the sample pack last time.
TFS. I'm surprised not to see the Camille rose gel. I think its glycerin free also.
CRN is in a previous Wash n Go series video.
Your hair is 🔥 and great video as usual ✅
I Appreciate all your series...Thanks! I consider myself a wng pro .however iI cannot make the UFD gel work for me and I have two bottles.
My wash n go technique has improved but it could be better. I still get dry hair on day 2. Using Camille Rose hair milk under Extreme Wetline which makes my hair crunchy. Please help!
Are you scrunching out the gel cast? Maybe thats just not the right gel for your hair.
No I haven't been scrunching out the cast. I think the gel is wrong too. I will try Uncle Funky's. Thanks for the tips!

Can you give an updated version of this along with which gave the most HOLD along with the definition
Please keep on doing what you do! 💛
Thank you for watching and supporting!
I love you so much it grow so long ur hair is giving me life the video

Nah, I use cheap stuff for that.
You’re funny 😁. Thank you for responding. Will give it a shot though
Have you ever tried The Mane Choice Ancient Egyptian 24k Gold Gel?
Yes, check out the video here: ruclips.net/video/KzwwUsTWRrY/видео.html

Hmmmm...
Curly Magic contains glycerin (swine juices).
Yes, the formula changed
How do you know if your hair is glycerin sensitive? Usually by day 2 or 3 I have a lot of frizz, hair is puffy, shrunken and have to re twist at night or apply more product/ gel.
Uncle Funky’s is my holy grail gel. Have you tried Jessicurl Spiralicious gel?
I haven't tried Spiralicious. I've seen several naturals with looser curls love it, and then as the curls get tights, people don't like it. So, I'm hesitant to try Spiralicious. Have you tried it?
I have a bottle to try, but will use a good leave in moisturiser to see the results. Fingers crossed 🤞
UFD now has glycerin.
Have u tried any of Soultanicals gels? I just tried the curl blaze hair glaze and I like it
I haven't yet, but they are on my list.
Has anyone here ever used the Curly Magic with no leave in? I used it for the first time yesterday and am not getting a good hold. Wondering if it was the leave in?
I have, and I get hold.
I don't use a leave in withit and get great hold. Thinking about trying a leave in just to see how it will work.

Nothing wrong with glycerin, its a good humectant. Living in Florida, products with glycerin will ensure your hair remains moisturized and shrinks.
@@ALove4Me but will it cause a twist out to loose definition and not last long.
depends on your climate. Check out the Dew Points video on Elle's channel Ellevate.
Thx for this video👍 What would you recommend as a protein free gel?🤔 Have you tried Kinky Curly Curling Custard?
I have tried KCCC, check out this video: ruclips.net/video/mBRK0BqP0Us/видео.html I will add the protein free gel video to my list.
@@ALove4Me thank you 🤗
You are awesome 👏! Have a great day.
Good video.....let start the twist out video. Waiting for u to try.... She scent it and bask and blooms products. Also never seen u demo anything from soultanicals
Bask and bloom as well as Soultanicals are the list.
I don't use gel at all but I did enjoy the series. Maybe I can someone else.
Curly Magic!!!!!!!!!!!
When she slipped up and said 3 months of hold, I was like.........
DAMN
😂
Curly magic has glycerin now as the second ingredient after they refomulated it 😢
Yep, I compared the formulas in another video
IKR 😢
wait what is wrong with my glycerin?! OMG
Nothing at all.
Omg then why are we going glycerin free?! I have glycerin products and I'm SHOOK.
I'm not going glycerin free. That was just the theme for the series this year
So there isn't a reason anyone would want to go glycerin free? *sighing in relief* thank you sister.
Someone's hair might not like products with glycerin or glycerin based products may not be the best for a person based on their climate.
That proclaim is trash. I have popping wash and gos usually and that proclaim could easily be a leave in
U know, there are so many good options on the market now that I wouldn’t include the proclaim on the list in 2021
