- Here's my camera test of iPhone 12 Pro Max vs iPhone 12 Pro vs iPhone 12 Mini - there were some major surprises in this one. The Pro max didn't perform as I hoped, and Mini was punching above its weight class! after watching the video and i would say if anyone just wants camera the mini would be enough. but i like big phones so i would prefer the pro max, but i dont use iphones, im looking to get the dxomark number 1, huawei mate 40 pro. that phone has the best dynamic range its crazy.

The mini is the size a phone should be. It’s extremely addicting just holding it.
For real man, I have an s10 plus and one friend of mine has an iphone 8 and it's so nice to hold it in hand, as you said it's addictive😂😂 bet the 12 mini feels even nicer, I really can't decide between the 12 mini and the 12 pro
I have small hands so I was pleasantly surprised when I hold my friend's iphone 7. It feels so good to carry a smaller sized phone. Really tired having to do finger gymnastics if I'm not using my two hands 😂

Exactly. I miss the old flip phones and the smallest phone I have atm is my Samsung s9 but with a case the thing is HUGE. forget pockets. It already fell out of one and smashed! Ugh.
Reminds me of the iPhone 5 but just a little bit bigger but not too much bigger. I love the mini!

I switched from 11 to 12 mini and couldn't be happier! I hold it in hand all day long and hand never gets tired, it's so light weighted.
Really great review, but I did notice that you showed the battery from 12 Pro and 12 Mini, 12 Mini had lower screen brightness and that could be why they were at the same 80 percent.
Brilliant comparison that gives an honest opinion about what most people want to know without any exaggeration or hype. The methodical way you do your testing and the different aspects of the phone performance that you cover that are often neglected by others (no other reviewer that I've seen mentioned the sound syncing issue, for example) are much appreciated.

Thanks for taking my doubts about the cameras!! I was very confused because I love the size 12 mini, but I was always thinking about the 12 pro cameras.... And personally the size of iPhone its a big deal because i have the SE (1º generation) and it's a huge difference between the recent models comparing to mine. Excellent review, now I can say that I will definitely buy the 12 mini.

Got the mini couple weeks ago and haven’t looked back! Glad apple made the perfect size phone and didn’t compromise on any features. Even the battery life is decent if you’re not gaming or heavy editing.

@@anthonygiordano3991 I am not a heavy phone user, I use my iPad at home and at work, so I have absolutely no issues with the batt life. I can easily get a couple days when I forget to charge it at night. Hope that helps. Cheers.
Thinking of trading in my 12 pro for the mini I find the 12 too bulky I'm not into heavy phones I haven't held a mini in hand yet

Thanks for the great comparison. Strange that the allegedly 43% bigger sensor and the sensor stabilization on the Pro Max appears to make no difference in picture/video quality.

Great comparison. Mini is a great choice. I still have my se, fits pocket and one hand very well. The 12 pro screen was set brighter than the other two so maybe 80% battery life left in the end of the test is a bit harsh 😉

Great comparison video Ben. In my opinion, if someone is considering the pro and can live with the size of the pro max, spending the extra $100 USD is a no brainer. It will be interesting to see if the picture quality of the pro max will increase once appleproraw is unleashed.

After a lot of going back and fourth, I will finally return my pro max and get the mini. I love small phones. Now that I know the cameras are pretty much the same I will make the jump. I will miss the telephoto lens but it's not enough for me to hold on to it.

I agree about your gripe regarding the max's display. Everything is just magnified its like they just made it for a huge person. They should add a choice to scale everything down to fit more content. Too much wasted space
A year later and I really love the form factor of the Mini, really hope the battery bump is enough for me in the 13 Mini
Thanks for your honest review. After having the pro max since November, it was too heavy and felt uncomfortable to hold, I bought the mini. I am happy with it. I live the lightness, easy to hold, texting is not a problem, pictures are great. I’m sorry I spent so much money on the pro max.

wael hussien Night mode with the ultra wide sucks at F 2.4 tho, the next Iphones are already rumored to have much better ultra wide cameras at F 1.8 and with 6 element lenses

Going from an iPhone 6s with display failure over to a mini. I’m impressed with your review, and I will be investing in the mini, because I also don’t wanna carry around a flatscreen TV in my pocket. So, thank you much.
finding this video 2 years later after the back market price of the 12 has finally gone low enough for me to order one. I ended up going with a mini, because its small and compact. The only thing I wanted the pro model for was the LiDar sensor, which is good for capturing 3D models on the fly, but its nothing some photogrammetry cant do better. I already have a camera for shooting videos and taking photos, but yah... the 12 mini seemed like the perfect fit for me. at $315 for a 256gb model, I cant complain!

What do you think ? Camera on mini would be better than Sony 6400 + Kit lense ? Now that was one excellent comparison thanks! I'm not into iPhone's (yet LOL) but my wife is so bought her the Pro, she's coming from a 6S Plus so should be a substantial upgrade for sure. If I were to jump ship think I'd opt for the mini too as phone's these days (imo) are getting too big and unwieldy.

The mini doesn't allow for night mode portraits (background blur). Nor the regular 12. Please, consider adding a comment to clarify that and not confuse people.

compared camera 12mini i own to 12pro max and 13, both 12 looks same but 13 is a whole new level in low light, iso capped at 5k on 12s and about 8400 in 13 and better software proc has the edge

Planning to switch to iphone by the end of this year and im torn between iphone 12mini or 12pro. I love mini bec of its size, and the pro bec of the camera. I thought the pro has far more better photo and video quality bec it is expensive and have 3 cameras. Thanks to this vid, now I finally decided to buy the mini. The photos and videos are almost the same! I dont care about battery, i always turn on battery saver btw. All i care is the size. Thanks!
