By the time you got to the ceiling drop tests, you were dropping phones that were already dropped repeatedly, and in some cases, had also received prior damage. There is something to be said for the inherent durability of a phone that is not ALREADY damaged form prior abuse.
I expect the waist high drop to be the most likely to happen so perhaps a few more on each side would be a good addition to future tests. I’m also curious if the iPad Air is less bendable than the iPad Pro so it might be an idea to do a bend test.

How about trying to start the drop test from high up first to see how they hold up because during the drop test the glass starts to get weak buy the time that you drop the phones from high up.
The test started with scuffs on the glossy sides of the phone, then the back shattering from head height. That was more indicative for me than the rest of the test, and a requirement to put on a case even if it’s to protect from scratches and scuffs.
I’m about to receive my 12 pro max and this just gives me anxiety. Imma keep it as safe as possible like my previous one. Not a scratch on that one for the first time. I’m so glad. 🙏🏻

I’m pretty sure the front & back glass of the 12 pro max are the same & also constantly dropping the same phone over & over at different heights will cause it to crack or smash in some sort of way because it’s constantly being dropped but 1 or 2 drops here & there wouldn’t do much damage depending on surfaces

I just got the mini one and so far it has held up great even without a case! I’ve been broke so I couldn’t buy one but I’ve dropped this phone several times now and no breakage just scratches and a dent in the aluminum lining. ( the should make the next mini have the stainless steel) anyways I just bought a case and I’m just very impressed with this phone

I’m pretty sure the front & back glass of the 12 pro max are the same & also constantly dropping the same phone over & over at different heights will cause it to crack or smash in some sort of way because it’s constantly being dropped but 1 or 2 drops here & there wouldn’t do much damage depending on surfaces

I just got the mini one and so far it has held up great even without a case! I’ve been broke so I couldn’t buy one but I’ve dropped this phone several times now and no breakage just scratches and a dent in the aluminum lining. ( the should make the next mini have the stainless steel) anyways I just bought a case and I’m just very impressed with this phone
