YES YES YES!...that's my pet peeve. Ugly Stiks (years ago) used to be a decent rod for beginners. The newest GX2 is the worst product they have ever put out. I thought I was seeing things at a certain store...so, to be fair, I did this over a few months at 7 different sporting goods stores : I pulled at LEAST a dozen 6-7' GX2's off the shelf at each store, so we're talking over 80 rods. I looked down the barrel at each rod. I found that a good 30+% of these rods were crooked...very poor manufacturing. DON'T BUY EM.
I was thinking, crap, I just got a GX2 a few months ago but hoping I didn't. Sure enough, got one. Still, I have had no problems with them. I am not a pro, I fish out of a kayak, and really, don't need to spend a lot of money on an expensive rod and/or reel. I bought an Abu Garcia Black Max (I believe) reel to go with the GX2 and found it to work quite well.
BD, the only issue I've seen with them was the "crookedness", and I've seen it to such a high degree, that I feel like I should warn people. If it's crooked, then an overhand (overhead) cast will be inaccurate. Other than a high % of them not being straight, everything else seems pretty tough (like the good old Ugly's). So if yours is straight, then you're good to go. Hey, I just started a fishing channel, check it out.
Brian Daub I own a GX2 spinning rod for catfish and it works great. But for bass, it's just not sensitive enough for me. I have a falcon bucoo 7'3 heavy rod for frogging and punching, and I can feel everything with it despite the heaviness. So, the money you spend on a rod can make a difference. Although I have to say, a lot of rods are probably overpriced. I can't fathom paying $400+ for some of the higher end G-Loomis sticks.
Nailed every point...I agree 100%...AND, I own the exact same rod and use it for the same purpose(s). I will NEVER spend more than about a hundred and a half for any rod, I just don't think the extra money gets you the equal quality when you're talking about spending that much...but, what do I know? And yes, many are totally overpriced but at least you get pretty colors and cool logos ;)

Try hooking a big ass couch cushion that was blown In the ocean by a hurricane and fighting the hell out of it for 25 minutes getting everyone’s attention on the peer just to pull up the said cushion 😂 man I swear I thought it was a stingray

I can relate to the last one one time I was fishing and I caught a Walmart strawberry box (because we were Close to a Walmart) and that still the weirdest thing I’ve caught in that pond.

2:02 I literally did this, It was me and 2 other friends of mine. We were trolling and I decided to cast a line out. I casted, my chatterbait hooked onto my friends rod and flew into the water. We were trolling in 50+ foot of water and luckly my lure was hooked onto one of his guides. Unluckily I got a very bad backlash.

The brother catching bigger fish is so relate able. My grandpa, him, and I went to San Luis Pass a week ago on a boat trip. I caught nothing while he got a 7-8 pound spotted sea trout. The fact that I've been fishing this summer 10-20 times and caught nothing while he went once and caught a huge trout made me furious. I just gave up and waited for us to go home.
One of mine is when I think I've got a flounder on but it's just a crab nibbling on my bait lol..like in my last flounder video..makes me so mad haha
In the one were he gets attack by a dog my great great grandfather had pictures of him fishing of of that dock

I can relate to 1:40, I was out, having a grand old time fishing when all of a sudden a wasp comes out of nowhere and stings me in the arm. Then, it comes back and tries to sting me in the leg when I'm trying to leave

I got one that happened to me. When strangers steal your baits when your fishing. Not lying
I was trolling with my uncle and he caught an old spincast rod. That same year I was ice jigging with my dad when he caught an ice rod, which was almost in the same spot as where my uncle caught the spincast rod.
I caught a race number once. Cosught under a rock. Thought it was an 8 pounderee

When you set up like 90 feet away from someone else and they come to your spot take your weights and hooks ect. right from your takclebox claiming they’ll just quickly borrow the item and in the end take your hooks weights ect. as well as your spot. Has sadly happened to me.😢

My dad and brother were fishing on a large lake and my dad always says “keep a spare Rod” which is sound advice... until you brother snags it completely out of the boat and you the older sister almost jump in after it. Yeah, we didn’t get it back... fortunately it was an old rod my dad got in one of 2 auction boxes for 30 bucks... along with over 250 dollars worth of Ratl-R trap lures. Enough to deck out 3 whole tackle boxes and still some really scratched up ones for repainting. Did I mention he only paid 30 dollars?... 😏
