    Boss Metal Zone MT-2 . Guitar players will understand.
    But your live rig has a pretty nice "wow" effect , never knew cello players geek out on pedals as much as guitar players.

    I'm not musical but I was introduced to it by one of my fave English teachers when I was a 'wee' one. I have quite a few albums and CDs of Cello (mostly Yo-Yo-Ma) but I love the warmth and depth that it creates. So I learned of 2Cellos a few years ago and in that way learned of you. So thank for the education of what goes in to your performances. I'm quite sure you are busy, but hopefully you can make it back to Vancouver

    Zvonimir Tonic ~ You are 100% correct. My choice is BOSS ME-50. That is EVERY SINGLE effect with a complete parameter for EACH Effect, and probably 40 distortion effects, stereo output, which will create a VERY FAT sound if you choose to split outputs. They didn't forget anything. You can drop-kick it and you won't hurt it whatsoever. It has a built in tuner, multiple delays, sampling... the only thing different I would do outside of the effect is add Steve Vai's Bad Horsie "Wah" (the Cry Baby is a good one also) and an excellent Pitch pedal that covers at least 3 separate Octaves ~ (both UP and DOWN)... after that, the only other thing(s) I have are a Joe Walsh Talk Box, which is insanely AWESOME and I have a Theramin, which is super cool if you are into "wowing" a crowd. Just dig back into Jimmy Page and his Theramin and look at what he did. Ironically, he was using a Violin Bow on his guitar at the time and was using the Theramin in combination with a slap-back delay, lighting and bow-hammering. He would then point his bow somewhere in the audience and it created an effect as if he were shooting lighting bolts at them. This was a long time ago, but it would definitely work with Tina's show. Guaranteed!

    • @123jozef
      @123jozef 4 года назад

      The next thing Tina needs to do is have someone build her a double-neck Cello... one that has a tuning that she prefers for a strong rhythm and the other neck set up more for melodies (shredding)... Sample a melodic rhythm off of one neck for about 30 seconds or so, send it to one side (stereo out) and then when the sampling is playing (and it appears you are playing it) you then start playing your melody over the sampling on the other neck. If she used a whammy pedal for "octividing" she could hide what her feet are doing (with monitors or whatever) and then she could appear to be playing two necks at one time and basically... well, she would have absolutely NO restrictions on what she wanted the audience to hear, or what she wants them to see. Freedom to move her body would increase... she could use a variety of bows or pretend any which way but loose on the neck that has the rhythmic output. She would skyrocket into some kind of mystical Cello hero who could create music just by waving her hand in the air..... and just in case people start thinking I'm nuts... I actually have all of these setups (only with guitars and violins) and have performed in this fashion so many times I can't count. You can mesmerize an audience with wind in your hair, even laying an instrument on the ground and waving or raising and lowering your arm in the air when the pitch changes... again, as if you are performing without actually making contact with your instrument......add in a Fernandes Sustainer..... and you will lose your mind.

    Hi Tina. Great video thanks for sharing! The Behringer sounds great with the electric - does it work nicely on your acoustic? I'm looking for something to give my bass pizz'ing a more plump sound. I'm also looking for a pedal which will even out the sound output between pizz'ing and bowing...any ideas? Thanks so much!

  • @SerafimSmig

    Hey Tina! I’m blown away from all the awesome music you’ve been producing! During the pandemic I’ve been exploring amplifying cello and possibly getting few guitar pedals to manipulate the sound. Here is my question: is it a problem for you that most guitar pedal switches are quite tall off the ground? Seems like they are designed for operating them while standing. I know you’ve been performing standing quite a bit but how does it feel to use them seated? There are some lower to the ground option like KMI Softstep but people seem to say it doesn’t register presses that well, especially on the carpet. Curious what solution did you find for best ergonomics? Thanks in advance!

    • @jakemode
      @jakemode 2 года назад +1

      I see Tina standing a lot during her live shows, Mike Block makes a really cool cello strap that even works with electric. In my experience the height of the pedal itself isn't too much of an issue, just gotta pickup my whole leg instead of just the foot. The main issue is when I have a lot of pedals, accessing them can be difficult. Hope that helps :)

    I had no idea that any of what was shown existed. I just thought that Miss Guo was magical at playing the cello and was able to pull of what others only dreamed of. Imagine my disappointment after watching this video! Seriously I did think it was all ability and no electronics involved. However with that said I am very happy that the electronics are available so we can hear you play and attain the high standards that you do. My question is that during a concert how many of the pedals do you use (classical music) and what makes you decide on if you use the electronic machine over the wooden instrument? I know the answer is "it depends" however please use playing in a Hans Zimmer concert as an example.

    • @tinaguo

      I actually don't ever use pedals on the acoustic- I like to keep the 2 instruments and genres separate as I feel that each is better suited for different types of music- however the pedals work exactly the same on acoustic vs electric for the most part!

      Tristan Nava And a ton of other people have managed to do the electric cello using virtual stuff, like you get on GarageBand, because that seems to be way more practical nowadays. I don't have the money to get real life pedalboards, but I've heard good things from the BIAS apps on the App Store, it's 10$ but you get to DIY your sound system. I wonder what it'll do for the electric cello.
