Who has a old nasty cultured marble vanity that they want Mitch to fix up!?
I do and I just ordered my stone coat
I had these for 20 years in our CA home! I hated them after about 5 years, wish stonecoatcountertops epoxy would have been around then!!
Bingo ✔️
Uh...I have THREE! All of our bathrooms have this type of vanity. When should I expect Mitch to arrive? ;-)
@@Jodi_W yes I wish they could come do my kitchen and 2 baths. That would be a dream come true.
First off great channel!!
My dad died of Covid in April, and I’ve decided to become a more hands on man, and I need to stay busy to try and deal with the trauma of it. Your videos and channel has given me a calm, collected way to approach life and staying busy to keep your mind off things. The craziest part, I haven’t even started my projects yet. I watch all your videos and for months now I think I’m ready to start something, when I can afford to order some of the product from you.
Thanks again for what you do and helping me get through some tough times!
Hey Blake this is Mitch. My condolences on your dad. I lost mine as well a year ago to cancer. I've taken the same approach with grief, work right through it. Some days are better than others. My dad and I worked on some river tables together and doing this work brings me closest and the most joy. I'd like to send you some materials to work with, I hope it helps. Send your shipping address to mitch@stonecoatcountertops.com Hang in there pal, You Got This!
sorry about your loss bro. stay busy is a good way to go. losing Dad is a bummer. I know what you're going through man.
You are a great man Mr Mitch
I can never get enough of your videos.. I have done 3 stonecoat projects now and I love how easy it is to use. Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much! Appreciate you taking the time to let me know you enjoy the videos!
Great feedback! Thanks for stopping by, let me know if you have any questions
Even though you guys show the same basic techniques its proof that you guys are not lying how easy it is using the right products. I always enjoy seeing it being done on different surfaces.
Thanks for the nice feedback! How long have you been watching Stone Coat on RUclips?
@@mitchquist about four to five months
Mitch aced it again. I love the simplicity of this that anyone can do.
💪🔥👍 Thanks for the great comment! No camera tricks, anyone really can do this!
I'm so glad you guys advertise like you do on RUclips. I found you while watching some custom woodworking channels. But I reached out to two other epoxy companies and they told me an epoxy coat on a sink couldn't be done.... you just told them "hold my beer!"
I bet the companies you called do outstanding work. The quality of this top is going to be mediocre at best. You can see the reflection of the backsplash and it has horrible orange peel. You would need to coat just the backsplash multiple times to bury the fleck texture. Then you would need to sand and sand and sand before the top coat. That would be the only way to get a quality mirror finish. No reputable company will spend the multiple days on site to do that. The companies that do will give you a substandard finish and take your money.
Thanks for watching everyone! Let me know if you have any questions, I'd love to help you update your worn out countertop! 👍👌💪
Good job on your video!!!!!
Can this be done to ceramic tile showers?? Still in good condition, hate to tear it up.
Great job!
I just bought my 1st house and it was built 1996. So pink laminate counter tops. I have already painted them white high gloss, Restolum. Do I need to re paint them before stone spraying them and epoxy then or can I keep it high gloss white?
Our central heat and air flows from the floor. Do we still need to turn it off when applying the epoxy?
Wow, what a throwback! A good old vanity restoration! Nice, clean and precise! 👍
The OG!!!!!
Turned out great. Looks brand new… I love the glossy UTC! 👍🏼 will be doing our cultured marble bathroom sinks in the future. Gotta finish our kitchen first 😜 thx Mitch!
You're welcome! thanks for dropping a comment! What colors are you doing on your kitchen?
@@mitchquist I’m leaning towards a stainless type finish or cement look. But everyone else wants marble. Lol
the music was chill to listen to while watching! good vibes
👍💯🚀🔥🤘
Plus Mitch has such a soothing voice too.
Y'all always do absolutely amazing work. Great how to's and just awesome products.
Mitch is my favorite. Thank you for explaining step by step thoroughly. As a first timer, this is so helpful!
He is my favorite too!
Thank you so much for the great comment! I'm sincerely happy I'm helping beginners, that's my number 1 goal each video. This comment made my evening thanks again for letting me know this💪👍🔥❤️
Mitch is 🔥
Great comment, a video helping a first timer is what we are all about! Thanks for letting us know the vid was helpful!
@@StoneCoatCountertops absolutely- these simple color recipes are great for folks just starting out - the Montana Marble sprays that SCC carries are also great for first timers! Really changes up the look and on a dime! Love SCC!
What an awesome tutorial! I’m a painter and in the winter I’m inside doing a lot of bathrooms. People really value a painters opinion on things, so I can’t wait until my next customer wants a counter top done 👍
Отличный пример практичности. Вы молодец!!! Спасибо за идею реставрации!
I was hanging on I was watching everything and paying rapt attention .
I like it when you do average countertops that could be on a budget. That's more realistic, but I love the Big Stone coat jobs you guys do. It's all interesting
Thanks for the great feedback!
What a beautiful makeover!! 👏👏 Even though our home was built in 2002, that is the kind of countertops we have in our bathrooms. They have not aged well(originally cream, now brownish yellow in places) and could use a redo!! I'm glad to see that SCC work well in sink/counter combos. Those spray finishes are awesome. 👍 I enjoyed watching the marble version as well!
Great comment! Pro tip on sink, brush the pooled epoxy back up to the sink rim until the epoxy starts to thicken a little and take time to sand any runs or ridges down between coats if you do more than one. Keeps the vertical part of the sink smooth! Thanks for always taking the time to drop such great comments - Mitch 👍
@@StoneCoatCountertops You're welcome! Great tips!! 👍 Thank you!! 🤗 Those curved surfaces seem like they would be tricky. Backsplash and edges also more challenging than flat surfaces!!
Liked that little plastic trowel. Looks handy for epoxy jobs.
We are going to sell them!
Mitch is a very intelligent guy......he knows and understands that Smart Water is for pouring into top coat to thin out and Lifewater is for human consumption.
This is beautiful and I'll definitely be using this video to renew my old countertop in both of my bathrooms. It'll save me so much money and look great! Thank you.
Nailed it!!!! Great comment, let me know if you have any questions before starting your project!
Clean with TSP

Apply 2 coats of undercoat in your color choice
Apply Stone Spray
Apply Epoxy
Apply Ultimate Top Coat if wanted
COUNTERTOP COMPLETE!
Thank you for showing the products used in prep! So helpful!!
This looks so good! I'm not sure I'm skilled enough to do this but I love it. I have three bathroom vanities like this I'd like to do.
That looks incredible! It looks just like the quartz top on my new vanity. Wow!
Outstanding, step-by-step, detailed instructions and guidance. Well done. Bravo!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Very good from Egypt 🇪🇬
Thanks for stopping by! Do people epoxy their countertops in Egypt?
What a brilliant video, engaging all the way through Mitch, you have a very friendly demeanor, and straight forward steps which are easy to follow, brilliant you guys, much love from uk.
Thank you so much! I'm happy you enjoyed the video! Stone Coat is coming to the UK this year!!!! I may even be out to do some demos! Thanks for watching and taking the time to drop such a great comment
I'm wondering on the ultimate top coat natural/ gloss why there always seems to be an orange peel texture? I know it wouldn't be for everyone but have you guys ever tried using an hvlp gun to lay down the ultimate top coat?
I just need to figure out what colors I want and how much I'll need and then I'll be ordering for sure. If not for all your informative videos I would too afraid to even try it, but your step by step makes it look so doable, so I'm doing this.
Not a problem Donna just give us a call and we can put together the perfect kit for you!
This is the best comment on the video! I'm so happy the video helped make epoxy look doable! It really is, You Got This!!!! Let me know if you have any questions! My biggest goal each and every video is to help other gain the confidence to Do-it-yourself and save big money vs the big box store countertop options!
I believe that if I don’t know the answer to information I need, it seems not be judged as stupid! So here goes (I’m 80 years young)!
What exactly is cultured marble?
And, can this also be applied to a laminate counter top? (It’s in my old kitchen)
@@carolehale-kipling7408
I'm glad you asked! My house was built in '74 and has laminate countertops in the kitchen. It needs a makeover!
I am new to Stone Coat Countertops channel. I love how y’all explain how to use the products and that y’all talk through the video. The project looks great you made me like the color gray with some additional techniques. Thanks you for sharing and changing my dislike toward the color gray.
Great video! Great training Mitch!
Thanks Momma, love you! You've always been my biggest fan!💪🔥❤️❤️❤️
Foi bom aprender a trabalhar com epoxi, mas eu simplesmente lixaria todo este mármore, removendo a camada suja ,fica novinho novamente.😁. Já fiz isto. Muito obrigada por esta aula incrivel!!🙌
I love this guy’s attention to detail and quality!
About to do my 1st bathroom DIY project! Now I know what I'm doing on my countertops!
Please come to north Alabama and do my kitchen and baths. Good southern hospitality and food! I’ve been watching you guys for a couple years trying to get enough courage to do it. Please!
Love the look. 2 questions I have about this.
1) How do you ensure that the back splashes are the same thickness of epoxy as the counter top? Gravity says that it will never be that way without removing them.
2) With the Rustoleum Granite spray, based on the caps, I thought that the color on the can was what came out of the can. I.E. gray cap with flecks vs clear coat with flecks. Didn't know that you had to have an undercoat paint.
my cultured marble vanity top with 1 sink is 55" long by 22" wide and has a built in backsplash on the rear, and an option one on the left. Since the left backsplash is removable I will lay it on it's side, but the rear is another story, I'll let the epoxy run down and connect with the bottom epoxy. It's not a squared off built-in backsplash. It's rounded so it flows down to the horizontal plane at a slight rounded 90 degree angle (it's hard to explain, sorry). So that's what I will try to do, but I'm not sure if it will work. I'm looking for a video that they might have done with one like it.
When I watch your videos I feel like we are best friends, lol. Great video!
Wow this is amazing I have the same countertop in my bathroom I would love to redo. I love the color and everything I wonder how that would look on kitchen counters. Which I have a lot of countertop so I would need eight times as much product as you used and I just wonder what that would cost me?
How big is your vanity? You'll probally only need a 1/2 - 1 gallon of epoxy the stone spray and the ultimate top coat all for under $200 for a brand new countertop! lemme know if you have any questions.
@@mitchquist it's a little bigger than the one in the video it has two sinks but probably only a couple of feet longer than the one in the video.
WHOA😯😯 so I can epoxy my sinks if I want to!
As always you did an amazing job 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you so much!! What colors would you like to see used next?
@@StoneCoatCountertops I would love to see something black and white but not marble . I would also like to see you in my house helping me lol 😂🤣😂 How do I go about doing my already installed granite rounded edges in my kitchen ?
I absolutely loved the video I can't wait to try some stone coat product for myself. I have one question. It looked like am orange peel finish on the finished product. Is that just the way the light was catching or is there a way to buff the orange peel off
Thank you so much for all the details. Excellent tutorial.
Can something besides latex caulking be used? I’m allergic to latex.
Any caulking that isn't silicone. Great question
Just ask for a rubber or Acrylic.
Just watched your video and it looks awesome. Beautiful job.
I was wondering how durable would the epoxy method be and what products would you use or stay away from for daily cleaning of the sink?
Very durable using our Ultimate Top Coat, strongest top coat in the industry. I've been living with it on my dining table and it looks like the day i poured and the table is almost 2 years old
I love this and I think that epoxy is going to be perfect for my bathroom. My question is though, how or even can I do the technique you did for the kitchen where you had to level up the peninsula for them on a bathroom sink with a built in backsplash? I want the white with just a little bit of black veining but I am not sure how to do that with the built in backsplash. Do you have a video of that or can that not be done due to the vertical portion?
Great job! I also apricated how you broke down the steps at the end.
I'm happy that was helpful! Let me know if you have any questions!
Excellent video. Two questions: does this work on ceramic sinks, or does the surface have to be more porous; and what other effects are possible (I see products for marbling, etc.)?
This is exactly what I needed to know for my hall bathroom. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Will you use the same colors or change them up?
@@StoneCoatCountertops I'm still deciding on colors. The entire project would involve a tub-to-shower conversion as well. I plan on reviewing your "construction foam shower" video as well. All of your videos are so informative AND fun. I'm leaning toward a Carrera marble look as the bathroom is small and interior (no natural light). What are your suggestions?
Thanks!
You Got This Mary! Let me know if you have any questions!
I wish that I can get my out dated counter tops to look like that my counter tops looks JUST like that old color and the end results LOOK absolutely amazing
You Got This Sandra!!!! Let me know if you have any questions
I just wish I can do this on a budget
I was told by others who done their counter tops, especially those with lighter color say they absorb stains. I done research online and found videos of people who stated the same thing.
There is quite a bit of orange peel in the final finish. Are you able to get a glass smooth finish or is that just they way it is? Possibly the paint specs, maybe another layer of epoxy.
Yes you can. But you need to sand with a fine grit sand paper. But that will make it the top hazy and you will need to polish it with a buffer or by hand. That is the only way to get a glass like finish I think.
I learn alot watching these projects! Thanknyou so much
Man, that looks AWESOME!
Love this! The gloss😍
I liked the finish on the epoxy cure but not crazy about the orange peel in the UTC. Any suggestions about getting it to lay down more? I was thinking about doing this to my single, which is about identical in size to this one
A year later and crickets from the creator. I came here for the answer. I would assume a flood coat with clear might help 🤷🏻♂️
Really excelent video, it's not an easy job, and things can go wrong, preparation and patience required here
Ты молодец я всегда восхищаюсь людьми которые работают руками и делают чудеса
Awesome job Mitch!
Excellent tutorial, beautiful work, is it necessary to use the torch?
It's a shame in my country they don't sell that complete resin kit!😧
I am so happy I found your Channel. I am about to be watching all your videos and following them step by step😊Thank U Thank U
Great job Bro. 👍 Must be a tough sell asking the customer not to use their bathroom sink for 3+ days.
Not really. If you have 2 bathrooms- start with one of them and use the other bathroom. When that's done, switch. It's what I'm doing in my house now. One bathroom is out of commission while the other gets all fixed up. Easy enough
Great job well done. I learn something new from you.
looks great
I enjoyed watching all video's. Love it!
That's a good step by step video. I have a project question of my own, maybe i could submit pics? i just installed an ikea matte black countertop that i don't like. it shows every water mark. Can i give it a rough sand and then apply the bonding primer and then the white carrerra mable epoxy then the top coat? maybe i don't need the bonding primer?
Email me some pictures, mitch@stonecoatcountertops.com
@@mitchquist Sent you an email with pics.
My vanity is similar but around the faucet there is a huge crack. Does that matter? & if it does how do I fix and prep it before?
You can fill the crack with all purpose bondo then sand back flat now ur ready for bonding primer
@@mitchquist I send an email with pics & questions. I'm worried when I pull the faucet it's going to crack more. It's 6" on 1 side & 4" on the other.
Mitch, I love the “heavy eighth” I thought I was the only one that used the term. Not quite 3/16. Also I like “shakesies”. I love your newest videos. Good showing the distance that you are spraying from too. Nice look!
Is that a new notched trowel that Stonecoat sells? Is 1/8”?
Right on!!!! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! Let me know if you have any questions
yes 1/8'' x 1/8'' square notch
Muito massa mesmo e posso fazer isso em bancada de MDF?
Our cultured marble sink basin is cracked, which I believe is crazing. how do you recommend repairing the basin before applying epoxy?
U can use all purpose bondo, overfill the crack. Sand back smooth and now u r ready for the bonding primer step! Great question
Mitch nailed it, patch it right up with some all purpose bondo, give the area a good clean, apply the mixed bondo. Over fill the crack then sand back flat and now you are ready to apply the bonding primer. Let me know if you have any further questions!
depends on the crack , you should use fiberglass cloth and epoxy, and underneath if you have access so it doesn't crack , bondo is not structural its crap
If the crack is bad, I’d consider removal and going in with new. It’s so easy with MDF. Also then you can get a new style sink.
Is that a NEW ultimate top coat? You now have a gloss finish? Does it lay down flat? Or is it slightly dimpled like the other mat finish? I’m very interested..
Thanks for your efforts 👌
I have a horrible yellow old nasty color. Im in a rent house and wish it could be updated for sure
We would love to see that transformation too!

@@mitchquist i live in Dallas ill show him
Mitch your are the best!!!
Very nice!
Looks great Mitch!
Beautiful job
This Epoxy coating. Can I do it over dining table at the restaurant and wondered it can handle heat and not crack thank you very interesting
This May be a stupid question.... I don't have a torch, will a hot air hair blow dryer do the job?🤔
A heat gun would be a better choice. But if all else fails, you can use a blow dryer but you will need to extend the time removing air bubbles from the mixed epoxy and I would also mix by hand with a paint stick for a good 5 min. This will incorporate less air into the epoxy mixing. Wal-mart sell a heat gun under $20, it would be a good investment
Can you use this for a shower pan? If so do you have an additive for anti slip?
I am personally not a fan of the stone spray, but that is just my personal taste, I'm sure the customer who chose it would not necessarily enjoy every choice in my house; however, I would bet it is fantastic for hiding any minor dirt or imperfections that might come from normal use in the future, so it is probably a great choice. I am enthused to see this application done on a sink like this that is part of the counter. These are super common where I live and this is so much more economical than having to replace everything.
That looked easy and the finish is really nice. Mitch can you tell me if I can do it on my marble countertop and my porcelain sink? I’d like to change the colours. Thanks
You mentioned before adding the ultimate top coat that the counter top could be considered complete. What's the advantage of the ultimate top coat and is it necessary on a dirty pour? My order arrived today I should be giving it a shot in both bathrooms and my kitchen in the next couple of weeks but I didn't purchase the top coat.
Did you need the ultimate top coat?
Does that XIM Primer work great on kitchen cabinets? And how does it compare to the Valspar Primer?
What do you do if the edge of counter top is rolled/rounded and has a hump? Epoxy would lay in dip vs rolling off the sides?
I would love to get my kitchen counter and bathroom done do you know of any company in Florida
Check out our Facebook group Stone Coat insiders, tons of contractors all over the country. Let em know where u r at 👍💯
Very good video... process explained well
This looks great! One question - will this work if there are cracks on the sink? Thank you!
Excelente...!!!
I love this video!!!
We appreciate that! Have you had the chance to use our epoxy on a project yet?
Is there a way to get rid of the orange peel?
Can you do this to cultured marble showers and tub. Love this
man, i wish i had the guts to do this. this stuff looks amazing.
With the help of our videos and wonderful customer support you got this!
Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
I've seen Alliance Epoxy Spray used and it seems to peel in not too long a time. Is the epoxy you rolled on different than the Appliance epoxy?
This one was excellent and I will save this one. Some of the videos you talk too fast or go too fast. This was detailed and perfect instruction. thank you.
What a transformation! I would like it even better if it was a pour to look like marble. It looked better just after cleaning and sanding it.
Beautiful work. I have a question, I need to redo my kitchen counter. How does it react to heat when we put a hot pot on it? Does it leave marks? Thanks
Heat resistant up to 490 degrees! Check out this durability video: ruclips.net/video/_BfgY1BJnD8/видео.html
Let me know if you have any more questions!
Your a true master !!
I'm thinking, being the counter turns out so beautiful, Is this possible to apply to kitchen cabinet doors? If so, do you have a video showing how to do them doors? Thanks.
Will anything bad happen if I skip the bonding primer and just use the epoxy under coat?
What did you wipe the countertop down with after sanding, and before the primer?
If there are check marks in the sink is bondo needed there or does the product fill in the little craze lines?
