Thank you for showing that the mounting brackets are interchangeable. I'm looking to swap my AC lite with a 6 lite and didn't want to drill new holes. The old AC lite will be used to expand my coverage elsewhere.
Hi Tony great video, nice to see a real world comparison, regarding the 3dbm increase on the 6 it’s actually quite considerable as db doubles every 3db. Looking at the 10bux difference it’s a no brainer to have the unifi 6. Having said that I’ve just installed two AC lites in my home and they are more than adequate .
Hi Steve, Thanks for tuning in and commenting. The house I just sold had two UAP-AC-Lites and a UAP-AC-Pro installed. Worked great for 3+ years. In the new house, I was first thinking going with the Unifi 6, but as of late been leaning towards the Grandstream APs. Have a great day.
Thank you for this. I was on the fence about the 6 Lite, but this sealed the deal for me. Any idea why the store pages for both APs list significantly different numbers for the 5GHz speed? Is this just the usual industry number inflating? AC Lite Spec sheet = 867 Mbps Store page = 1167 Mbps 6 Lite Spec sheet = 1201 Mbps Store page = 1500 or 1200 Mbps (both are listed)
Thanks Dark Side Cookies for tuning in and commenting. Please subscribe, share, and give the video a like. Those numbers are a bit misleading as they are statistical marketing numbers. They are derived from the "ideal" testing environment. In the real world, do not expect to see those numbers. Have a great day.
Was the tests conducted using 2.4 or 5ghz range? Also, what width did you use? 20, 40 or 80Mhz? It makes a big difference so should be shown which is being used. I’ve just (literally) been tuning a friends AP AC Lite and got a speedtest of 552mbps down over it by using an 80mhz channel.
Hello Clive Flint! Thanks for commenting. I used 5G for testing. My iPhone 11 supports WiFi 6, so when testing the Unifi 6 Lite it was taking advantage of WiFi 6. However, i believe i mentioned in the video that both devices were set to default out of the box states, so Auto for channel and power to show a comparison with little or no tweaking. I agree, tweaking the devices should make a difference in the results. This was just a baseline based on Auto. Have a great day!
@@QuikTechSolutions It’s worth checking that it has used the 5Ghz range. Out of the box it doesn’t steer towards 5Ghz so could be using 2.4 instead. The webpage should show which band is being used as well as allowing you to prefer 5Ghz over 2.4.
in dinamic, the uap lite has a litle advantage to unifi 6 lite...... in general terms the new inifi is better....... the poe conection in uap lite, saving money to you..... almost 20 us...
WiFi 6 is designed to handle more devices. You will see a speed bump if your device (phone, laptop, etc) supports WiFi 6. If your WiFi 5 APs are serving your current needs and you’re not saturating your network with a lot of devices there’s no reason to spend the money. On the other hand, as more & more WiFi 6 devices hit the market, it’s probably a good idea to stay in the upgrade path. There is no one correct answer as each environment differs. Evaluate your needs and go from there. Have a great night.
Excellent review. I bought 2 HUAWEI WiFi AX3 (using as AP) but I'm considering returning it and get Unifi U6-Lite - is it wort the 50€ difference per unit? One important thing: Can I have the 2 Unifi AP's on the same ip range of my ISP router? Thank you
Hi Romeu, thanks for commenting, appreciate your kind words. Since I can’t speak to the Huawei AX3, can’t really comment on the difference in price. When you say the same ip range as your isp router, I assume you mean the same subnet? If so, then yes to your question. Have a great day.
@@QuikTechSolutions I read several online documentation but I remain in doubt. I don't need the Ubiquiti UniFi Cloud Key, right? I can configure the Unifi Ap's through a PC and they will function in a autonomous way, right? Thank you
So you can configure Unifi APs as standalone units using your phone and the Unifi app. However, you will lose many of the power features like vlans etc that you get when using a controller. Now that being said, you can install the Unifi controller on a PC, the software is a free download from ui.com. You don’t need to have a cloudkey to run a controller. This way you’ll get all of the features. And the good thing about doing this is the AP is not reliant upon the controller to be running at all times. Once you configure the device with the controller, you can shut the controller down and the device will still function with a full feature
Do you know if Unifi 6 Lite can be powered up from Edgerouter X SFP using PoE and standard power supply which is included with this Edgerouter (24 V)? It is possible and easy to do with UAP-AC-Lite.
@@QuikTechSolutions 4000 sq ft. I’m thinking one upstairs and one downstairs. Just not sure which ones to take a look at first. Probably will start with one upstairs first and see from that point.
So with WiFi 6 emerging on the scene, I would probably suggest going with the Unifi 6 Lite in each location. From what I’ve scene, it out performs the AC-Lite, AC-Pro, & the Nano HD. You may also want to check the Grandstream APs. I just got a GWN7630 in the lab, its crazy fast. Blows the doors off the Ubiquiti APs.
Thanks for tuning in. Glad you liked it. Be sure to check out this Saturday’s video. I’ll be pitting the Unifi 6 Lite against the Grandstream GWN7630. Have a great day.
would like to see a range test. Would like to know how far away you can get from these both ceiling mount and wall mounted! Great video!

You’re welcome. Thanks for watching.
Would be interesting comparing speed 30ft or so away from the AP and see how different they perform at some range.
Good suggestion!
UAP AC lite long range vs Unifi 6 ac lite comparison would be helpful, because they are priced somewhat close. Great video, was helpful
Well put! This convinced me to upgrade from ac to 6 lite

Great review!! But..What’s the range of the U6 lite? Is it the same as the AC lite?
Thanks. I don’t have exact numbers, but Ubiquiti claims it’s 2X the range of the UAP-AC-Lite.
Well Tony I think I am going to have to consider the new UniFi
Hey Dennis, I am happy with the performance of the Unifi 6 Lite. I’m looking forward to the release of the Unifi 6 LR. Have a great day.
I also understand that WiFi 6 will better manage multiple clients and allow higher upload/download with multiple clients compared to older WiFi
Thanks for commenting. Yep, WiFi is designed to handle more clients efficiently.
However the uap lite comes with a PoE injector and you have to buy that separately on the unify 6 lite.
So its not a 10$ price diff. More like 20$.
Hi Martin, thanks for watching. I suppose you have a point. I was thinking use cases with a PoE switch.

Consider using 5 streams to max it out
Hey short question: why is it that I get the full 200mbits on 5ghz devices but only around 20 on 2,4?
By the nature of 5G vs 2.4G, 5G is faster than 2.4. However, you should be getting better than 20 on 2.4.

There are so many variables that could affect your speeds. Hard fir me to say for sure since i have no knowledge of your network and environment.
