- The plaintiff hired the defendant to move her things to a new home, but the movers damaged lots of her belongings, so she’s suing. The defendant argues the plaintiff saw everything go into the storage unit near her house and she didn’t say a word. He’s countersuing for money he’s owed on the move.

Yes that's very odd to wait that long. Maybe something got broken, not really sure because she lost ALL credibility in my opinion waiting an entire year to say something. She's giving scammer vibes especially trying to get this huge bonanza cash grab trying to have people pay for her flight.
Scammer is such a very strong word, and true scammers are obvious about it, and actual scammers are smart/would usually never show their face on national TV. She's just angry/bitter that her furniture was damaged during the move, and yes waiting a year to complain seems sus, but it dawned on her to file the claim out of spite and right and wrong/the principle etc. Two completely different things.

My aunt is one of them - the idea of getting a payout by any means ignites them, some ppl like the long game. Also a year later no one can recall things clearly. The lady is old but far from naive lol she knew the game she was running. A second set of movers were involved who could have damaged the items when they added the daughter’s stuff. Why in the world would she not sue the second company and the tv stand broken off looks personal & immature.

What was the purpose of the daughter being there if she wasn't gonna inspect everything. A year later and a new set of people moving things 😒 How she gonna pin point him for the damage 🤔 a year later. Hope he listened to the judge about contracts also business and family don't mesh its all business no matter who you doing business with.
Aww he seems so sweet, if she said she noticed it after she looked at it (she said this at the end) in her storage unit and it was there then why wouldn't she sue then? Who doesn't check their property after a moving company moves you??
If I moved from one house to another I would want to pack everything. How would yo know where anything is in the new house if strangers packed all the boxes?

There are certain items I wouldn't want a stranger to handle. I thought it was odd to let movers handle sentimental and fragile items not to mention personal documents. I think she broke her items hoping to get a nice payout to buy new furniture for her new house.
Often you can’t get breakage insurance if they don’t pack it. That said, if you’ll cry if it gets ruined, move it yourself.

I had a pack-move-unpack last November and they did a fabulous job. There were two small scrapes on the side of my fridge and one broken glass, but I don't expect perfection in the people I hire. If you want to be sure about damages to your stuff take photos of you things before they're packed, take photos of moving day, and have things unpacked at the other end. If there's damage take a photo. And get moving insurance and a contract.

The first movers wrap and move her to another state, and she doesn't check her stuff as they unloading it to a storage unit?? Waits a year, then gets people to move it from storage to a house and now it's the first movers fault?? Why? Did she really think that would work. Why would those 2 guys want her clothes or the jewelry drawer to her dresser? What use does it have for them, none.
My guess is she signed a contract with the second movers (or wasn’t convinced that she could get money from them), so poked where she figured a payment would come, IMO.
I’ve bet that I bet that jewelry drawer to her dresser got ruined and so she tried to blame it on the mover so she could get a new one

Never store anything. I used to work for an exterminating company. You don’t want to know the bugs and rodents that are sitting on your furniture. Most of the stuff stored isn’t worth the price of storage. It’s just old depreciated furniture. Get rid of it and buy new.

They’re shocked when they discover that all-wood includes plywood. And all leather includes bonded leather which is almost 100 percent vinyl.

When he moved it to a self storage unit, she had to note any damage at that time. Did she buy coverage for damage? Normally, you have 9 months to file a claim for a move.

Everybody is trying to save money, but if I required movers, I would hire a company that provides a contract and insurance. Also, I would immediately check for damages especially if my stuff was expensive and basically new.
Since the guy was so nice and literally paid her a brand new dryer for 500 bucks, she wanted more money to buy everything new. I think she might have damaged her own stuff just so she can get everything new

They’ll charge u $2500 to move a few blocks, let alone multiple states away. She got a HUGE discount!! Ppl also buy insurance for potential damages. She’s broke, just got a house n is scrambling to get some money to help. So sad that a good business man that tried to help her is having to prove himself.

I use UPACK for moving state to state. Never had any issues . I wouldn’t use a local guy . Only a big company

From new york to South carolina is a long bumpy ride, I can imagine things got damaged in the truck.

This is why I own solid wood vintage pine furniture made in the USA. It doesn’t hurt it if it gets a few little scratches on it. I can move it full and just plastic wrap the drawers shut and slide a dresser down a flight of stairs without it breaking. Her TV stand is garbage particleboard. It doesn’t even surprise me that it got broken. Furniture like that is not made to hold up for more than 6-12 months without being moved.

This is why you should pack yourself. Companies should add to their contracts packing conditions. Also NEVER give a discount. Either they have it, or they don't.
