There is a cut out on the drive pulley for locking the crank when setting the engine timing. If you rotate the engine to put that cut out directly in front of that water pump bolt, you can take the water pump off without removing the pulley. Tilt it off and on. Good video.

Hi I have a 2005 745i BMW would my pully come off the same way? And was it easy to put back on?

Thanks great info. You can actually remove the water pump without removing the drive pulley, the bottom screw can be loosened and backed right off then tilt the pump backwards and jiggle it about a bit.

Agreed. I just backed the bolts on the pulley off to get it out.

The video is a great help, but I need your help on one small detail. Do I need to loosen or remove the large nut in the middle or does the pulley just slid past it, once the 7 T-45 screws are removed? I have a '06 750LI. Thanks!

I got a 2003 745li and the car is leaking coolant. When the car engine is on but parked it doesn't leak...but as I start to drive it, it starts to leak alot of coolant. Where do you think the leak is coming from?

You can do it without removing the vibration damper, just remove the belt tensioner, cut 10mm wrench in half, and after you remove it shorten the bolt behind the vibration damper by 3-4mm.

it's not a self bleed system, ,,, the bleeding screw it's on the antifreeze reservoir
