I was introduced to "Try to Remember" from the Greek Theater concert album. I was introduced to Belafonte in 1956 with his album simply named "Belafonte" (I still have both albums). Nobody delivers a ballad with quite the sincerity of feeling that Belafonte did in his prime. I still treasure his albums from the '50's & '60's. There is nobody his like on the horizon at the moment.
The way Belafonte sings this song emphasizes the nostalgia that this song is wrapped in. I had a bad marriage. But this song brings back how much in love I was. Something I had forgotten.
