- This is an Updated workflow that also works. I wanted to show my Ultimatte 12 HD SDI setup and mapping because I had some issues setting up and how to map it out for virtual production a while ago and it was hard to find a video just showing the actual setup.
This isn't for everyone because not everyone will have it but this is for anyone who does need this help. Also, a reminder for myself if I forget. Кино
Thank you for sharing all your knowledge
Thanks for watching.
Thanks!
🙏🏾
Well this is pretty cool 😎
🤘🏾
You not playing that's for Damn sure....Inspiring...Keep up the GREAT work!
😂🙏🏾
Hey Edward thanks for taking the time to make this video, I have been looking everywhere to find out how to connect my ultimatte, I only have the mini version with hdmi connections but I think it will work fine when connected like this. Just need to order an adaptor to hdmi to fit the sdi out on the PCI card
I'm glad I could help. I also was looking everywhere for a video on the Ultimatte setup and couldn't find one. Thanks for watching.
@@GTshortStories I got everything working thanks again. I also I found out if you use 'media capture' in the virtual production tab at the same time you can output from 2 Cameras to separate Unimattes.
@@Josef1cnc That's awesome to hear. I'll keep that in mind for future productions.
Wow !!!! This set up may be more easier but it requires more knowledge and work. Am I right?
Yes, you're right to the initial setup. After a while the workflow is easy.
Awesome! Is composure needed if I am compositing fg and bg in post production and am just using the ultimate for a reference composite on set?
Amazing what’s possible for an individual setup all within your house! Keep inspiring, GT! Side note: with Xsens do they limit how much mocap data you can export a month?
🙏🏾 It’s definitely crazy the amount you can produce in your house. When it comes to the Xsens, there’s no limit on how much mocap data you can export out a month. Which is awesome. Thanks for watching
Thanks for sharing your video on virtual production. Regarding the use of Media Capture and Composure for background imagery, what guided your choice between them, and what objectives were you aiming to achieve with this method? I find your first method with Media Capture to work much better. What advantages of using Composure for BG output?
Both are great ways to achieve the goal. When I was prepping for my GDC demo and trying to learn all the ways to approach virtual production I noticed with this step I had less frame drops when it came to running the vive mars, Genlock, the game engine playing all of my background animations, live streaming Xsens into UE, feeding the live camera into it and making sure it maintained the 24fps. I also was reaching out to HTC Vive Techs and Blackmagic to find out what the best pipeline to utilize everything. I agree with you that the first method works better and it seems easier to get there as far as steps. This method is another way that I used that I didn’t run into any hiccups once achieved. Thanks for watching
It's great to see your dedication to finding the best pipeline and your effort to maintain high-quality production standards. Your videos are informative and beneficial to the community. Please keep sharing your knowledge and experiences; I look forward to learning more from your future videos!@@GTshortStories
very nice thank you. I have a question, how do you get unreal not to crash? because i dont trust its stability during a serious live production.
I don’t probably have the right answer for that but I basically grabbed the most expensive GPU that I could afford when built my computer and I haven’t had any issues with Unreal crashing. I’m running an RTX A6000. But to give you a more realistic answer it would be to check your viewport mode and move it down from cinematic. There’s so many ways to adjust your settings that can potentially help from crashing but also I don’t know your system or see your level map to pinpoint why this could be happening.
@@GTshortStories I have an RTX 4090 with a Ryan’s 7950x and 64gb ddr5 ram.. it seems like it’s a common issue for many people, I have been working in virtual production for many years with other dedicated solutions but I have recently decided to learn and use unreal engine. It’s good when it works but the crashes are annoying… thanks for answering me though. Your tutorial was straight to the point
@@ibrahimmomohYeah, it seems like you have more than enough to handle it. It’s definitely one of those things that I’ve been on forums trying to figure out. The setup that I’m running at the moment haven’t ran into any crashes so far and I just did a presentation at GDC where I used my computer and had it running UE for 10hrs, with a heavy level map, livelink streaming Xsens, Vive Mars and it held without hiccup. But I totally understand the frustration sometimes things can happen and there’s never a direct answer for it. I’m not an expert in UE just passing the info I use to make it work for my setup. Hopefully you find an answer and pass it on to me 😊
@@GTshortStories 😄.. 10 hours thats serious stuff. well ill keep searching. maybe in need to reinstall again
