Gomez & Morticia are the definition of couple goals. So much passion and support for each other. Many psychologists cite them as having one of the greatest/healthiest marriages in fiction, and I have to agree.
After Raul Julie, the actor who played Gomez Addams died, people asked will there be a third Tim Burton Addams Family film. Angelica Hudson, the actress who played Morticia Addams said, “Not without my Gomez.”
@mikemckague9506 and Angelica Houston was not Morticia. Daryl Hannah was, so Angelica Houston would not do a reboot without her Gomez. Christopher Llyod was loyal to Raul Julia's as well.
It's quite common to eastern european/west asian traditional dance. The floor length dress covers the feet masking their smaller movements so that they appear almost invisible as they walk.
Raul Julia was so underrecognized for his AMAZING talent, if you go see his clips with Meryl Streep on the stage its insane how he morphs into another person.
Gomez and Morticia are such couple goals. They’re so passionate and supportive of each other with no shame in showing it. It’s as if they never stopped the flirting stage of dating. In a world full of “Incel Alphas,” we need more Gomez Addams. He would never shout at or belittle her, and he would rather cut off his own hand than harm a hair on her head. They’re also the kindest, most accepting people. True ally to the outcast.
When the studio pushed for Christopher Lloyd to play Fester, the director was furious about the misscast. After all, Christopher Lloyd was the tall lanky guy from Back to the Future, but when Lloyd got onto the set, it was like he shrunk two feet and the director knew he was the right guy for the part.
Everyone including me does pretty much declares this as the definitive version of The Addams Family. And, you gotta admit. Everything about this is really great. The dark humor, the style it goes with, even the actors that play The Addams Family plays the family great. You guys have Jenna Ortega as your Wednesday, but Christina Ricci will always be the OG to me.
tbh Jenna Ortega's Wednesday in the new TV series seems to be somewhat contradictory in nature. They tried to make it more like a Harry Potter story, with Wednesday cast as a weird version of Harry Potter. That doesn't really work though.

The model train scene with the little passenger is my favorite in this movie! If you’ve ever seen Charles Addams’ New Yorker cartoons, you’d know. They’re so bizarre. The more you stare at them, the more details you pick out and the weirder they get.
I love the inconsistency of how Fester left in 1966 (the year the original series wss cancelled) and yet Wednesday and Pugsley remember him, despite them being like 10 and hes been gone 25 years. 😂

I always loved how everyone always looked at the family like their the crazy ones when when you think about it the Adam’s are exactly what normal society acts and pretends to be ( nice, family oriented, smart, loving husband who adores his wife and kids, mother who actually pays attention to her kids, etc) and I always say I want a Gomez and morticia type of love cause no the way he’s obsessed with her but in a non toxic way and the way she’s so lady like and grabs your attention as soon as she steps into a room they are legit goals this is my fav version of the Adam’s family
This movie was a love letter to the source material of the Addams Family, aka the newspaper comic and the 60s TV sitcom. There are so many great little moments. For example, you looked confused when Morticia was cutting the roses off and keeping the stems. Every version of Morticia loves her flowers and working on her plants. However, in the TV sitcom, we're told that Gomez is allergic to roses. So she still grows them but only displays the thorny stem to protect Gomez. ❤ I also love the scene where Fester is unpacking and Morticia says to him. "Cyanide? As if we'd ever run out." This joke comes from a comic panel in which Morticia has gone to the neighbor's house to ask if she can borrow a cup of cyanide, much like one would to borrow a cup of sugar. 😅 When Gomez goes to collect the monthly expenses for Tully, you hear a lion roar, and Gomez says, "Down, Kitty!" In the TV sitcom the family has a pet lion named Kitty. 🦁 Speak of which, the book that opens the secret passageway to the vault is titled Greed, but below it also names JP Addams as the author. This is a reference to the banker, JP Morgan, but fans have created lore about the Addams' ancestor on several fan sites. 💰 Any scene you see of the front porch of the Addams' mansion shows signs of where they dumped the tar from the opening scene. So yes, they really did tar those carolers.⚫️ This is my opinion but the scene where Morticia reads to the children and then makes them cry about the poor witch dying I think is akin to the first episode of the TV sitcom in which little Wednesday comes home from her first day of school absolutely heartbroken because her class was read a book in which a knight slayed a dragon. "That poor dragon." Aghast Morticia and Gomez confronted the principal about reading a book about promoting violence towards someone or something simply because they are different or scary. 🐉 It is a long-running gag in all versions of the Addams Family that Fester has a type of electric power or electric current running through him. He often did the light bulb trick on the TV show, and they also showed him using it on the newer Wednesday. You also see a nod to his electric powers during the knife dance at the farewell party. When they scrape the knives together you'll notice that Gomez's knifes spark like you'd expect, but Fester's spark with electricity rather than fire.💡 The Addams Family is based in New Jersey based on the TV sitcom and the house that inspired the one in the comics is also located there. When Thing is searching the classifieds in search of a job he is looking through a newspaper from New Jersey. 📰 This movie and its sequel also set the precedent that Wednesday is older than Pugsley. In the TV sitcom, Pugsley was the older brother and was a character quite known for being a mad scientist/crazy inventor. Wednesday, on the other hand, was a character that liked drama and theater and was very much into learning new things, which suits the Hamlet scene they perform in the movie and a play performed in the sequel. 💀 Also, you asked what they did to get the children to cry in the book reading scene with Morticia. Well, the director told all the children they were there to get measle shots. One of the kid's parents was so furious about him scaring their child that the director had to make a quick escape because they were threatening to kick his butt over the whole thing.💉🤕

I'm convinced that if Christina Ricci hadn't made such an impression with these Addams Family movies (both of them), the public wouldn't view Wednesday Addams as a character worthy of her own show - meaning, they never would've even thought to create the Netflix show all those years later.
I agree I still prefer these 2 movies over the new show though. The show didn't entertain me as much as the classics. These ones will forever be the best
My headcanon is that the Addamses are all immortal - Wednesday killing Pugsley over and over, Wake the Dead. I think the cemetery is just full of sleeping Addamses who have "lost the joie de vivre that makes an Addams an Addams. It explains their wonderfully outlandish look on things, their ability to recover from any injury (even full body destruction except for the hand), and their morbid fascination with the dead and dying. Maybe it's the eleventh toe, but then, I imagine that Margaret would inherit the immortality of things with It work out.
I think it's more like they can't kill each other for some reason. They can definitely be killed as explained by Morticia when she is showing Fester round the family cemetery.
The actual lore from the original comic strip is that the Adams family line are necromancers, and Morticia is from a family of witches going all the way back to Salem.
what many people miss is Morticia is meeting fester for 1st time, she never calls him fraud or anything, her mother's seance proved he was, she knows magic , she knows it's him. Hence her treatment of him. throughout film. She knows how important he is to her hubby

So quick story. When I was 8, I went through the phase of scissors and started cutting my own hair. Ma found me, chewed me out and shaved my whole head. For Halloween, I went as Uncle fester. My mom found at a novelty shop a trick light bulb that when you put a piece of foil in your mouth and connect the light bulb with it, it would light up! I won 3rd place at the Halloween costume party in 1992 😁
Every single Addams Family movie or animation I've watched since this movie has just been awesome. I LOVE every single one of them. It's one of those IP's that has stood the test of time. Raul Julia was a real stand-out for me in this movie. I remember getting so excited that he was also going to be in the Street Fighter movie, but then really disappointed in the movie itself. But yeh all the characters are just fantastic and yeh, you HAVE to embrace the absurdism to enjoy this movie. The absurdism MAKES this movie..... it's so so good. :)
The Addams Family, The Addams Family Values, Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Crow, The Craft, Queen of the Damned, The Matrix, Blade, Bless The Child, The Covenant, The Butterfly Effect are all movies that molded me in to the gothy 35 year old man I am today! All of these are must-watch movies for Halloween
I loved the casting for this movie, every actor fit the part. The script was written well, because as Michael said, it did feel like a longer movie. I would love for the studio to bring back The Addams Family, they are so much fun.
"I feel like I shouldn't be watching this very intimate moment." Gomez and Morticia are in the same room at the same time. There is no other type of moment.
One of the best parts is that the sequel, Addams Family Values, is JUST AS GOOD as this. One of those rare examples of the sequel living up to the lightning in a bottle brilliance of the original.
That sort of comedy started in the `60`s, even here in the U.K. I was watching both The Munsters & The Addams Family Tv Series. Along with Bewitched, I Dream Of Jeannie & My Favorite Martian, an interesting change from the ordinary comedies. It was a great time to grow up, we also had so many different Sci-Fi Tv shows & films, that made you stop & think.
It’s clear everybody agrees that Gomez and Morticia are literally THE standard they are the definition passion, support, and love love 🖤. I truly feel in love with these movies as a kid I loved how completely unhinged and weird they all were but it was their normal and they are a super supportive family no matter what, plus I think every woman would love a man like Gomez.
I love the original Charles Addams one-panel New Yorker comics. When I first saw the film and the carolers were heard I started laughing big time, well aware of the oil boiling cauldron to be seen... Throughout the film there are straight up such comic panels represented, such as the li'l man on the toy train seeing Gomez looming over the mountain, etc.
Given that the Addams were meant to be the opposite of every "normal" couple of the era, it was only natural to have the parents both love AND like one another.
This is such a good movie for real. I am so glad to see you guys watching this movie and really enjoying this movie a lot. And I am so glad to see you two reacting to this movie and also enjoying this movie a lot. The very first time that I saw this movie was when my grandmother took me to see this at the movies and theaters. I was only 14 years old at the time when the Addams Family was first released in theaters. My grandmother and I really enjoyed The Addams Family a lot. To this day I still enjoy this movie a lot and it is a lot of fun too.
Next, Addams Family Values ❤. While I liked Wednesday the show, it pales in comparison with these movies (& the OG show), it had bite in its humor. Perfection. p.s. My head canon is they’ve had other children but they couldn’t survive Wednesday & Pugsley 😂
Angelica Huston is also in John Wick 3. She tears John's ticket. In the original series, Gomez would constantly check the stock market and invest in sketchy stocks. He would always be disappointed because he always made money instead of losing it. I hope you watch the Addams Family Values very soon.
I never realized it but a vulture WOULD be the perfect goth pet. They're loyal and caring, and they love following you around - and very smart! Also, of COURSE Gomez and Morticia are the best couple ever! Goth and Romance goes hand in claw!
As a kid in the 70s, I was a huge Charles Addams fan and went through all collections of his cartoons in the town library. The movie is full of references to them, including the family pouring the boiling oil on the carolers and the tiny man on the train looking out the window to see giant Gomez operating it.
I love Angelica Huston she an amazing actress I first remembered her from a Disney space ride attraction called “captain EO” she played the witch queen……..she was good in that as well but the Adam’s family will always be a classic
Fun fact: John Astin and Carolyn Jones, who played Gomez and Morticia in the original TV show, were in fact madly in love with each other. But they were both married and so could never consummate their love. So appropriately tragic!
The thing about Fester is that his name fits his character.... If he's in an different environment other than the one he's known for... He'll physically and mentally CHANGE to match that environment.
Thanks guys for watching this movie I hope you watched the sequel, It was don't be jealous but true story I did met the cast of the Addams family 2 weeks at LA comic con. It was so awesome and I dreamed of meeting them , I really met the Addam's family
Not counting the cast of Wednesday on Netflix, this is my favorite casting for The Addams Family. Specifically, Anjelica Huston as Morticia is sensational, and Christina Ricci as Wednesday is iconic.
As much as I like Burton, I don't think he would've been able to pull a dark comedy as dynamic and engaging as this one. He's never had this much energy in his movies, not even in Beetlejuice.
Gomez & Morticia are the definition of couple goals. So much passion and support for each other. Many psychologists cite them as having one of the greatest/healthiest marriages in fiction, and I have to agree.
I couldn't agree more. Their relationship is what I espire to.
Find a man like Gomez, and you've found true happiness.
Exactly! They have the kind of spark I dream of when I find the one.
Not only that but the extended family as a whole are considered to be among the healthiest examples of a thriving happy healthy family
Fiction and Psychologists go hand in hand.
Morticia & Gomez are the ultimate relationship goals. Even more in the second movie. RIP Raul Julia
1991 was the 25th anniversary of Fester's disappearance. That would mean he left in 1966. 1966 was when *The Addams Family* was cancelled.

Hopkins is too deadpan on delivery compared to the tv character, Lloyd just kills it especially in the second movie
I won 3rd place at the Halloween costume party in 1992 😁
I remember as a child, my dad and I received a vhs copy of this film from Mcdonald's as a promotion and I've loved this movie ever since.
I remember that promotion. McDonald’s also had, Field of Dreams as another promotional video. I may actually have that video around somewhere…
Achara Kirk: I feel like a nasty surprise is coming.
Robert Muldoon: Clever girl!
42:30 They got the kids to cry by telling them that they all needed to get measles shots right after filming.
Complete relationship goals
Yall got to wacth the next one too. Its just as great !!
The legendary Raul Julia. In both movies, he chewed the scenery like a pack of Orbit and blew bubbles with it!
Gomez and Morticia are such a lovely couple
One of the best parts is that the sequel, Addams Family Values, is JUST AS GOOD as this. One of those rare examples of the sequel living up to the lightning in a bottle brilliance of the original.
That sort of comedy started in the `60`s, even here in the U.K. I was watching both The Munsters & The Addams Family Tv Series. Along with Bewitched, I Dream Of Jeannie & My Favorite Martian, an interesting change from the ordinary comedies. It was a great time to grow up, we also had so many different Sci-Fi Tv shows & films, that made you stop & think.
Nw you need to watch Addams Family Values, amazing!
They are the opposite of an average American family. They like eachother and enjoy eachothers hobbies
Gotta do Addams Family Values next!
Just in time for Thanksgiving
I love the original Charles Addams one-panel New Yorker comics. When I first saw the film and the carolers were heard I started laughing big time, well aware of the oil boiling cauldron to be seen...
Throughout the film there are straight up such comic panels represented, such as the li'l man on the toy train seeing Gomez looming over the mountain, etc.
And the design of the house was done so respectfully to the comic strip.
Turning on my notifications just so I don't miss the sequel! Both are my favorites and never fail to entertain me!
What a cute couple between Gomez and Morticia
The actor who plays Pugsley is the brother of the actress Ariel Winter who plays Alex Dunphy (the genius kid) in Modern Family.
OMG - his profile looks just like hers! My great grandmother was a Winter, from Danzig - wonder if we're related.
Great script, great cast, brilliant art direction, and an inspired first in the director's chair for Barry Sonnenfeld!
I think that was tiny Barry Sonnenfeld in the model railroad car looking at Gomez who was looking at him.
Next, Addams Family Values ❤.
While I liked Wednesday the show, it pales in comparison with these movies (& the OG show), it had bite in its humor. Perfection.
p.s. My head canon is they’ve had other children but they couldn’t survive Wednesday & Pugsley 😂
I grew up watching the old black & white series in reruns in the 70s. This movie (and the amazing sequel) are the perfect movie versions.
I grew up watching it in the 80s.
Raul Julia was taken from us waaaaaaay too soon :c
Thing is not a pet.. he’s family.😅
I was watching this again with my wife just a few minutes ago. Introduced her to it while we were engaged.
Michaels smile is just so pure and contagious lmao
My mom had the VHS when I was young this movie was a tradition
Angelica Huston is also in John Wick 3. She tears John's ticket. In the original series, Gomez would constantly check the stock market and invest in sketchy stocks. He would always be disappointed because he always made money instead of losing it. I hope you watch the Addams Family Values very soon.
I never realized it but a vulture WOULD be the perfect goth pet. They're loyal and caring, and they love following you around - and very smart!
Also, of COURSE Gomez and Morticia are the best couple ever! Goth and Romance goes hand in claw!
Margaret Alford is played by Dana Ivey who also played Sister Agnes in Rush Hour 3
Ashleigh Burton: (See's Achara for the first time) SHE IS SO PRETTY!😍
This and the sequel have twice the character in them than the whole eight hours of the Netflix show.
You really don’t have to put something down to uplift something else dude
Agreed. This film and the sequel are still the best live action iterations of the Adams Family.
Fun fact: John Astin and Carolyn Jones, who played Gomez and Morticia in the original TV show, were in fact madly in love with each other. But they were both married and so could never consummate their love. So appropriately tragic!
I absolutely love the love between Gomez and Morticia! They are the perfect couple.
In a series flashback, morticia had a headless anne boleyn doll. Wednesday has a headless marie Antoinette 😂
🎶🎶🎵"Their house is a museum, You really ought to see 'em🎵🎶🎵 🎶They really are a scream...They are really spooky...the Addams Family"🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵
"That little, black monster."
"PUGSLEY!!"
It's just as funny every time.
I recommend checking out some of the original TV sitcom on RUclips, clips or a full episode. It's a really funny show.
Fun Fact: The little man in the train was the director Barry Sonnenfeld.
only 30 years after the fact do I realize, Gomez and Morticia are perfectly fine.
it's the rest of the world that's gone insane.
The thing about Fester is that his name fits his character.... If he's in an different environment other than the one he's known for... He'll physically and mentally CHANGE to match that environment.
And that makes the name "Fester" fitting how?
Thanks guys for watching this movie I hope you watched the sequel,
It was don't be jealous but true story I did met the cast of the Addams family 2 weeks at LA comic con. It was so awesome and I dreamed of meeting them , I really met the Addam's family
One of my childhood favorites!! Good reaction guys. ⚫️
Not counting the cast of Wednesday on Netflix, this is my favorite casting for The Addams Family. Specifically, Anjelica Huston as Morticia is sensational, and Christina Ricci as Wednesday is iconic.
interesting book, Hurricane Irene pass by PR a few years ago and Raul is from PR. coincidence? lol
it doesn't matter how many more movies they make, Raoul Julia and Angelica Houston were the perfect Gomez and Morticia, they will never be bettered
never settle for less than Gomez and Morticia
Hope you watch the next one, it was my favorite as a kid 😍
Wednesday was such an icon !
According to lore Thing isn't a pet but a failed experiment Wednesday and Pugsley performed.
Christina Ricci crossing her arms to sleep like the dead was her improv. Amazing talent even at a young age.
Halloween is my favorite holiday (From the week of Fall beginning to the week before Thanksgiving)
This movie feels like if tim burton really directed the movie in the 90s
As much as I like Burton, I don't think he would've been able to pull a dark comedy as dynamic and engaging as this one. He's never had this much energy in his movies, not even in Beetlejuice.
This was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid
You two were PERFECT for this reaction!!! I really hope you both do Addams Family Values. It’s just as good, possibly better.
