Just saw this but so you know, it's actually cheaper to buy it in the 100 round boxes than in the Spam Can in the Monarch brand at Academy. I'm talking price per round.
@@charlesrobison6962 bingo. I have a Chinese can sitting in front of me from 1975. I have not opened it yet, will in next few days, 99.9% certain it will look as good as ammo that was made 2 hours ago
Not a bad first attempt at opening one. MUCH easier to open them on the ground instead of a shaky table surface (harder to film). Barnaul is tier 1 7.62x39 food and you will not be disappointed. Normal cans have 700 rounds in them and are packed much tighter, but the opening procedure is the same.
I could be wrong since its been so long since I've opened one of these but I believe you may have had an easier time if you cut away from yourself instead of draggin the blade towards you with each puncture. I'm not sure if that makes sense...
They have broken these down from the Russian crates that contained two. You are paying more for the price of one. There is a lot of ammo and gun price gouging these days. What a shame!
@@Kpoole35 I get quite a bit of carbon build up with it on my piston. Living so close to salt water I can’t have that or salt will stick to it and eat it from the inside out.

I'm guessing you wish you bought a couple more now 😀 Barnaul has pretty much dried up in stores here in Canada due to sanctions. I bought some barnaul subs today (not that that means anything protecting your hearing with a can is illegal here) but I haven't seen any Russian x39 on shelves other than that.

I kind of don't mind paying extra for it to be sealed in the spam can for long term storage.

Yes, you rock the can opener and it cuts on the upswing away from you.
I need to find a couple more of the 9mm cans.
I believe they put come take it on all the cans. Not just ones in Texas. And they are copper washed...they are a bi metal alloy with a copper wash.
I still carry a spam can opener in my range bag. The openers are never around when you need them lol
Always good to have one.
Good thing you didn’t have to open this while mortar rounds were dropping in around you.
Exactly! I would have been moving much faster. LOL
I never use the tool but if you do just put it on the countertop and not a shaky table. I use a punch and hammer...much faster for me.

You should have gotten a glove or thick rag. Those can openers get rough on your hands.
You're opening the can backwards lol.
I was waiting for the "tss" sound when he punctured the can.

im gonna miss buying ammo from mother russia
It goes back to Leonidas when he fought the Persians
Molon Labe
I feel like a starving child watching a mukbang 💀

You shouldn't have opened it up. The can protects it from the elements and keeps it good.
