      THIS. WAS. FANTASTIC. The best battle report I’ve seen! Loved how narrative it was. The opening with the script setting the scene was a favorite touch of mine. I know it probably takes a lot of work to get a video like this done and thanks for this. But please make another one I’m really invested now. Like will Felice twitch now be too much of a hindrance for future missions!? Will Ottilie give Claude high praise for his marksmanship!?
      I do have one question, how did you enjoy the solo play of a tabletop game. I’ve been thinking about it more of doing myself & just wanted to get your thoughts.

    • @tabletopalchemy
      @tabletopalchemy  Год назад +1

      I actually really enjoyed the solo gameplay! To be honest, it's pretty difficult for me to find anyone in my area that wants to play something that isn't Warhammer or Warhammer 40k (not that I dislike those games, it just seems to be the only thing being played). And also ... lol, I don't really know that many gamers either, at least that are nearby. But I think the simple monster AI as written in the books works well and all in all, I had a great time both playing the scenario and making the video. Lots of work as you mentioned to make the video, but I'll be doing more battle reports in the future, guaranteed.

    Perfect bat-rep, because you told the story as well as played out and adjusted to the probabilities of RNG's, even when they were not in your favor.
    Bat-reps can often become boring because they only speak to the numbers involved, rather than scenario or story involved, and you avoided that trap.

      @@tabletopalchemy Turnip28 as a game has a delightfully core rule set that has layers of very interesting flavour through exploring cults and special units. But what sets it apart for me is the aesthetic and its miniature agnostic nature, which opens up a lot of opportunities for kitbashing and a lot more freedom than I feel with my Warhammer army. As a result my enjoyment of the game is both from gameplay and the ever growing art project that my units have become.

A balance of the narration and the overhead and the dice box there are a lot of factors to balance and I think you did an amazing job. Well I enjoyed it, for one. Sounds like a fun skirmish system, I would like to get into some skirmish action but no one in my D&D group is interested.

      Well, one, glad you enjoyed it, and two, a lot of skirmish games have solo rules. But as far as getting friends into it, maybe you just set up a game and invite one or two friends over for a demo.

      If you can find them, the ORIGINAL rules for Mordheim set up a warband/narrative system as well, and your fantasy players may be more open to that environment.
      Another really, really cool one is Malifaux if they like a more steampunky, but still warband focussed idea. There is also "Through the breach" which is thier RPG game.
      Even games like Warhammer quest can be played in this style if that's what floats your boat, even solo as well.
      It actually AMAZES me that people who play RPG's via VTT's or who need boards or battlemaps would even hesitate to play skirmish games TBH.

      @@tabletopalchemy Just ordered The Silver Bayonet rulebook and a box of Napoleon's Wars: British Riflemen (Wargames Atlantic). Being a massive fan of Sean Bean's "Sharpe's Rifles" tv series these minis will allow for me to create a detachment of the 95th Rifle Regiment! I will have to go looking for a medic and occultist however "In DuckDuckGo I trust"! Just wanted to take a moment to drill down on your videos. They are incredibly engaging, cleverly thought out and neck n neck with AFK for the top spot out of the 803 channels that I follow! Thank you for all of the work that you put into these and I hope the Hollywood Writer's and SAG strike are resolved quickly!

      Well, this is awesome! Thank you for the kind words as well, much appreciated. I think you're gonna have fun building the 95th and playing some Silver Bayonet. Good luck finding those perfect doctor and occultist minis, lots of cool stuff out there!

    Wow this game is very swingy isn’t it? A +1 bonus for accuracy when the dice give you a 2-20. that’s not much 😇
    Are there rules for escaping? ^^

    • @tabletopalchemy
      @tabletopalchemy  Год назад +1

      This is true lol, but makes for great story! To be honest, I think the only reason the warband was able to escape is because “monsters” in solo scenarios do not have the option to “sprint”, so u always have a chance of outrunning them.

      @@Frederic_S yeah, I like all of Joe's games, they are fundamentally similar in mechanics and I think they're great. Just the swingy-ness isn't really suited to "highly competitive play" I guess lol.

    That was great man, by doing your narration after the fact it was tighter than what I usually see on battler reports, if you do one with another player in the future it will be a good chance to riff and edit a good report. Keep up the great work!
